IPhone 3g safari plugins?

In my phone's safari settings there is an option to turn plugins on/off. What plugins does this refer to?

True they do bog down your CPU, but then again you have a choice of what sites you go to. Also, Adobe may be able to counter that by writing a more efficient Flash optimized for the iPhone. One can only hope.
Some people can't differentiate between Flash based sites and non-flash.
Adobe would have to write an optimized version of Flash that limits the resources that it can use. No one wants to have all the resources hogged by 1 plug-in (or script engine... Apple MAKE JavaScript run faster!)

  • Cannot play podcast from .mac website on iPhone's Safari

Published a podcast, using iWeb on our .mac website. Works great on my laptop, however, on the iPhone using Safari, it just shows a QuickTime icon. If you click on the icon it takes you to the quicktime site to download the latest version of quicktime. There isn't a "play" button visible to press instead.
If I subscribe to the podcast, download it into iTunes and then sync my iPhone, it works great. Is it possible to listen to podcasts right through Safari on the iPhone?

It's that way because that's the way Apple designed it.
I just merely wish to listen to them using itunes and my pc headphones while it charges the unit.
You can still connect headphones to the iPhone and listen while your PC changes the iPhone. Until Apple changes things, that's it.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • IPhone 3G, Safari cannot open OWA (Outlook Web Access) to Exchange 2007

Hello, picked up iPhone 3G in hopes of replacing my Windows Mobile 6 phone (AT&T 8525), and first i did was,
    a) Installed the my .pfx certificate, appears successful as the certificate showed up under Settings | General | Profile, as identity certificate (although shows up as "Unsigned", not sure why). Verified the details of the certificate and all looks correctly imported, especially the expiration date is correct.
    b) Setup Safari to NOT block popup, cleared cache, history and cookies
    c) Opened up Safari, and pointed to the following URL,
    http://my.company.com/OWA
And i get the "The page cannot be displayed", with Error Code: 401 Unauthorized.
This same .pfx certificate is used successfully in my Windows machine, and using the same OWA URL, using Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari for Windows.
And my Windows Mobile 6 (AT&T 8525 phone) also using the same .pfx certificate has no problem opening up the login page to the OWA, using the same URL.
Can someone help or verify whether accessing OWA through iPhone 3G Safari using the .pfx certificate is NOT supported at this time?
    Thanks much!

When you created the PCKS#12 did you create with the full chain? My first suspicion is "unsigned" - this indicates that the phone can't validate what signed this certificate. You may have to import the signing root seperately as I don't know if the iPhone cert store handles chained certs or not.
Secondly, Safari browser is echoing back the 401 message indicating that the server did not accept your credentials. Many SSL implementations require the client to send the full chain (to the root that signed everything) - it makes no sense when the server should have the root and be able to validate this, but I have run into this before.
Since this has worked on your WinMO device I would try the following:
From a desktop PC access your OMA/OWA server - hopefully you have the PFX installed on a desktop
Click on the SSL lock icon and view the certificate hierarchy
Export the root and any intermediate into .CER file
Import the root and any intermediate CER files into the iPhone
The first thing that you hopefully will see is that the Profile cert will no longer say unsigned. If it does not, try re-importing it (pfx) AFTER you install the root(s).
I know that some of this seems un-necessary, but I have done a lot of PKI stuff over the years, but there seems to be very different implementations in key management.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to install Safari Plugin?

I downloaded a Safari plugin called XML View Plugin.webplugin and have
no idea where it should be placed to work in Safari 5.
It did not come with an installer and I have not found Safari Plugin folder.

    Hi Meera
safari from 10.7 on doesn't support  webplugin types, if that's what you're using
you might look for a suitable extension
or a more up to date plug-in

  • Does Mozilla's Plugin Checker not read Safari plugins correctly? My Plugins are all up to date and it still says "update."

    Shockwave Flash
    Shockwave Flash 10.3 r181 — from file “Flash Player.plugin”.
    Shockwave for Director
Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.6.0 — from file “DirectorShockwave.plugin”.
I'm wondering if it is how Safari does not list the entire version in it's plugin page, such as 11.6.0 instead of 11.6.0.r.626.
Also I have Looked in the plugins file for Safari and turned on the extension to show invisible extensions and it shows this:
    DirectorShockwave.plugin 11.6.0r626
    Flash Player.plugin 10.3 r181.34
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled just to see if that was the problem.

When you run the plugin check, you should get a column with the full version number (here's Flash, for example, in the attached screen shot).
As for finding Safari plugins, I don't know how it works on MacOS; on Windows, Firefox will scan certain locations outside of its folders to pick up plugins that are not Firefox-specific. The plugin checker then will use the information that Firefox has gathered.

  • Strange behaviour iPhone 4 Safari

While testing my website's mobile version on several devices, I noticed a very strange behaviour.
I have a scrollable content div with overflow: auto, and this works properly on all tested devices, except iPhone 4 on Safari. Other browsers and devices display it correctly, even iPhone 5 Safari.
On iPhone 4 Safari, when you scroll to the end of the content, a lot of extra whitespace appears at the bottom (looks like 100-200% extra height) and the text disappears when scrolling. This doesn't happen on any other devices in Safari, nor does it happen in other browsers on iPhone 4.
Has anyone ever heard of such a phenomenon before? I have absolutely no clue what causes this behaviour or how to fix it.
Since I only have access to a limited amount of devices for testing, I may be overlooking other devices/browsers where this issue also occurs. If you have a mobile device and want to test it as well, the live site is here: Live site. On the mobile homepage, click one of the logo's to expand the content, then try scrolling down.
How it looks on iPhone 5 Safari when scrolled down (no issue): Image
How it looks on iPhone 4 Safari when scrolled down (issue): Image
Is this possibly a device / OS-specific bug?

In case anyone else is having the same issue, you can find a solution here:

  • Safari plugins occupy a lot of CPU

    Hi,
Since I have upgraded to snow leopard, safari plugins (flash) occupy a lot of CPU and the fans work like crazy.
Whenever I have loaded a web page with many graphics, or listen to web-radio, after a while my CPU is maxed out.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers.
    K.

    Turn off flash?

  • I have a movie site app banner ad that I cannot delete from my IPhone 5 Safari page.  I appears every time I open Safari.  Any suggestions.

I have a movie site banner ad that I cannot delete from my IPhone 5 Safari page.  It appears every time I open Safari.  How can I delete it?

You do not have a virus.  Sounds like you are just being bitten by Safari's desire to reopen all windows - and reconnect to all sites that were open in those windows - in Mac OS X 10.7.  I believe that if you hold down option (or is it shift?) while opening Safari that it will not try to reload those pages.
Regarding malware, see my Mac Malware Guide:

  • Dylib and Safari plugin on OS X

    Hello,
I'm building a Cocoa based Safari plugin and need to link against a dylib supplied by a vendor. I am able to successfully link / build the plugin but can not get Safari to find the dylib. I added a copy task to put the dylib into the executable folder but this didn't work.
Is it possible to use a dylib with a plugin? If so, can someone tell me how? How can I get xcode to know about this dylib too?
    Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem of debugging the plugin in xcode. The solution was to add DYLDLIBRARYPATH to the executable environment.
    - Select your executable in xcode in the "Executables" folder
    - "get info"
    - Select the "Arguments" tab.
    - Add the environment variable DYLDLIBRARYPATH to the environment section specifying the path to your dylib.
    - Debug away.

  • Why my iPad or iPhone go safari watch online show can't load

Why my iPad or iPhone go safari watch online show like anime etc it's say need flash player

Flash is not supported on the iPad or iPhone - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites have their own apps in the App Store.

My Iphone lost Safari, please help me restore it

So a Spotlight search on your phone to search for Safari and click the App. Once you verify that it is still on there you'll just have to look for it.
If the App isn't listed, try a restart/reboot of the iPhone holding the home button and sleep/wake switch. If the App still doesn't show itself in the OS or via Spotlight, restore the phone via iTunes.
