Iphone 3G shows Apple logo when starting and stops there.

Hi, I just got an Iphone 3G 16GB yesterday from a person who had it for 10 days and did not like it. Before giving it to me me he did a general reset using the optino in the settings menu. When he gave it to me the Iphone was still doing the reset and it took 2 hours and 40 minutes to end it. At the end of the reset the screen showed the Apple logo and does not go further. All of this was done with the Iphone plugged in a power outlet to avoid interrupting the operation.
I left it on for all the night just hoping it was a very long procedure but with no results (still the Apple logo and nothing else). This morning I tried to turn it off keeping the sleep/wake button pushed for some time but id did not even shut down. The only way I found to shut it down was to to push the Home button and the sleep/wake button together for a few seconds. When I tried to turn it on again pushing the sleep/wake button it showed the Apple logo again and nothing happened.
COuld someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

Just to report that the problem was solved with Apple Support. They asked me to start Itunes, connect the usb cable to the computer, push the home button while connecting the USB connector to the Iphone. This way Itunes recognized the Iphone in recovery mode and restored everything automatically.
Now the Iphone is working perfectly.
Hope this helps.

    Dear all,
I am freaking out right now. I tried to turn on my iMac. It firstly showed the Apple logo on grey screen. Loading logo appeared below and then suddenly my iMac was off. Any idea what happened?
    Wahyu

No, but it sounds like a hardware issue or perhaps a bad hard drive.
If you boot in verbose mode (hold down command-V at boot) do you see some words that indicate where in the process it's failing?

Same here. I tried to update my iPhone 5S and iPad 4 to 7.1 but iTunes wiped out them. This thing already happened for iOS 7.0.6 update. What happened to Apple? I am really curious whether Apple is aware of this problem.

Wait for advice on repairing a damaged filesystem.  Forceshutdown stops processs in mid-stream and leaves some parts not-valid.
Do not proceed until you get that avice.

  • How to eliminate the "Ping" sound when starting and stopping videoing

How to eliminate the "ping" sound when starting and stopping a video on iPhone.  Thanks.

I asked my friends on Facebook and one came up with the answer... I just had to flip the little "ring-silent switch" on the side of the iPhone to cut the "Pinging" sound!  There's probably another way but this works!

  • HT4235 if i reset my iphone3gs then why it shows apple logo on screen and didn't work

i can't open my iphone 3gs because i reset it
but after reset it it shows only apple logo on screen and don't start
    please help me

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Can "cycle" be set to stop at the end, and/or go to the start and stop there?

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place for this feature. I'm used to a daw that provides a method to identify a region (similar to Cycle Mode), but gives the options to do one of several things, rather than only loop that passage endlessly. Sometimes I want playback to stop at the end of the passage...and when I hit return, it will go to the beginning of the passage and stop there. Or..sometimes I want the playhead to go to the beginning of the passage and stop there, instead of continuously loop. I rarely want an endless loop of the section.
Sometimes I don't want a region at all, I simply want to set a memory location and have the playhead go there any time I hit return, instead of go to the beginning of the sequence, or to the beginning of a cycle to start looping.
    thanks

Yeah...I've worked out an alternative, but it would be very nice if there was a feature like what I'm talking about. Basically, a start and end memory location that is multi configurable to whatever you want. It can loop, or just go back to the start location and stop. And every press of rewind takes you to the start.
I've come up with the key command, go to left locator or right locator, and don't enable cycle mode.

  • Recently when clicking on Safari, it refused to open saying there were some components damaged. It was suggested I backup, remove OSX and reinstall. Now all I get is white screen and apple logo when starting. What to do?l

I Have an iMac desktop purchased in 2010 with OS X 6.1.6 and Snow Leapard. Recently after starting up, I was not able to open Safari. I checked for updates and all was well. I tried again and got a message saying Safari could not be opened because some components were damaged. After using Disk utilities to try and repair, it was suggested I uninstall OS X and reinstall from the disk. I did not at the time because I wanted to backup some info to a USB drive. But now when I startup all I get is the white screen and Apple logo and the loading symbol. What happened and How can Imfix it? I am not very tech savvy and don't know where to turn!

    Hi nancy mfromamity harbor,
Welcome to the Support Communities! It sounds like reinstalling the Snow Leopard operating system is your next step.  This should not affect the documents and data that you currently have on your iMac. I'll include the information to show you how below.
Mac OS X 10.6: Reinstalling Mac OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH6606
Under some circumstances, you may need to reinstall Mac OS X. You can reinstall Mac OS X while keeping your files and user settings intact.
Note:To reinstall Mac OS X from another computer on your network, see:
Using another computer’s DVD or CD drive
    To reinstall Mac OS X:
Insert the Mac OS X installation disc and double-click the Install Mac OS X icon.
Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pane where you select a disk, select your current Mac OS X disk (in most cases, it will be the only one available).
If you want to control which parts of Mac OS X are installed, click Customize, and then select the parts you want to install.
To start the installation, click Install.
If you purchased a standalone version of Mac OS X, these installation instructions are in a PDF file located on the Mac OS X installation disc.
If you need to reinstall the version of Mac OS X that was on your computer when you purchased it, or if you need to restore all the software on your computer (including Apple software, third-party applications, and other printer drivers), refer to the documentation that came with your computer.
If you need to reinstall Mac OS X and you’ve been using Time Machine to back up your applications, files, and user settings, you can easily restore this information from your Time Machine backup disk after you’ve reinstalled Mac OS X.

  • My iphone is unlocked I was using it but one day tried to restore and since than its just showing apple logo on screen and phone is dead it does not get verification for serial number and imei from apple

    Hi
My iphone became dead apple not verifying its serial no not the imei so should I throug in dustbin

If it was officially unlocked by the carrier it was originally locked to, then it should have been fine.
If it was hacked in any way to make it function as if it were unlocked, then upon restore the iOS firmware failed to re-install correctly and it is now a brick - so in that case, yup, might as well toss it in the trash.

  • Imac21.5 went to silver screen only and the apple logo when started

Hi apple have fixed this but charged me, even though its only 3 months old. it is a software problem so i am told and that i have pressed a wrong button.
so to try and stop me pressing wrong buttons in the future as they cost £84. does this happen often to mac software or can you enlighten me as to which buttons i should not press.
also do you think that it is right to charge someone for this problem even though the macs only 3 months old and has it happened to anyone else.
    thanks paulw

    hi
I did go to PC world as it was the weekend incase it was something that could be fixed easily.
they went through all the ideas your gray screen link suggested to no avail and said use your Applecare.
I called apple and arranged for a call back from applecare for Monday 1st aug., took Monday morning off work waited until 1pm still no call(I also followed up with another call to them at 9.15am Monday morning) they then emailed their call back department again.
I finally got a callback at 2.05pm in the train station on the way to work, so wasted and lost 1/2 a days pay.
I arranged for the machine to be picked up at PC world as I did not want to wait in from 9am till 3pm for the courier collection on Tuesday. I took the mac to PC world Monday evening. I received no feedback or calls from apple.
so called Friday to see what was happening their answer you'll get a call back said call back did not arrive.
apple called today at 1pm said sorry software problem not covered under Applecare £70 + vat please we will deliver it back Tuesday.
To say I am very disappointed is an understatement as I was intending to change my work PC and laptop to Macs as I was of the understanding that the service was 2nd to none, the Macs were robust and better than the other main PCs in the market but if their are software problems all the time. also if someone presses this so called wrong button and each time I have to pay because its not included in Applecare then I do not think Macs are for me. to say I pressed a wrong button or turned the mac on wrong just does not cut the mustard.
I feel like I now have a 3 month old machine at home that I should just box up and not use. ( when I get it back)
I hope this clarify's my post and you can understand my frustrations.
This is why I am trying to find out if this is a regular fault and experiance of Mac users.
    Paul
