Iphone (3G) switching from 3G to E randomly

Ok, here's my story. My iPhone is a little over a year old. I have restored, restarted, done anything possible to try and get this phone to work. I live in Boston. My phone for the past month has been acting funny. I would be in full 3G service one minute, and the next would be in E network. I have tried switching off 3G and turning it back on, and while it is temporary (a few minutes max) it is annoying to to have to switch back and forth. Is there anything I can do?
I went to the apple store and the diagnostic said nothing. I went to the AT&T store and got a new sim card. The new sim card worked for 3 minutes (I counted, no lying). I don't know what to do.

Anyone have any solution?

  • IPhone switches from play to pause randomly

When playing music on the iPhone it will randomly switch from play to pause then back to play again on its own. It behaves like this randomly and the time before it switches back to play is equally random from 2 sec to 15 sec. This is annoying. Anyone else experience this or have any idea as to the cause? I have version 2.0.1. TIA

One thing that might help out.
When you notice the iphone going from play to pause, is it when you are using the earbuds that came with the iphone or are you using a different pair.
The reason for this questions is if the earbuds become disconnected from the iphone it is supposed to pause. Or, is you squeeze the mic part way down the earbud cable it is supposed to pause.
Try wiggling the headphone jack in the iphone to see if you can produce this issue.
Also, try wiggling the cable around the mic on the cable to see if you can produce this issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 3G: Switching from a PC to a Mac, Contacts?

Hey guys, switched from pc to mac some months back, but ive kept syncing my iphone on my PC, now i want to sync it with my mac, because im abroad and want to put some new music on it...
im just insecure with my contacts, if i sync it with my mac, whats gonna happen with all my contacts?is there gonna be any problem? i even walked in to a local mac store here to ask, he couldnt insure me that they would still be there
after the switch to mac, can i save my contacts in my adress book on my mac book?
sorry if these might seem easy quesiton, but i live off my iphone during the days and loosing the contacts would be horribly
    thanks

Before you sync your phone with the mac, make sure you've authorized the computer in itunes. Next put at least one contact in address book, it can be a fake contact, doesn't matter. Do the same thing with ical, if you have appointments you want to save. Next, connect your phone to itunes, cancel any popups that appear. Go up to file, transfer purchases made on this ipod to this computer. All of the purchased music/apps will then be transferred. Music you ripped on your own will not be transferred, you'll have to restore that from your backup. You can now sync, when the popup appears about merging contacts, click yes. You will not lose your contacts or appointments.

  • Im a long time Android user switching to the iphone 6 plus. What is the experience of the first time iphone users switching from Android

I had the Gal note 3 then was given a SGS5 for a replace because the Note3 had issues.
Couldnt stand the screen size so I had to go back to the larger screen.
I decided to go with the iphone 6 plus.
So for those who have made the switch from android to apple for the first time what
    has you experience been like.
I am an ipad user but want to know peoples opinions that have switched phones.
One thing I dislike and I know you can change it; it seems like google want to
force you to use chrome which I cannot stand

        Hi zharvey85,
I truly apologize for your experience at the store. However, we provided the pre order as a way to avoid needing to go to store as inventory availability are subject to change without notice. The pre order secures the device and the other email was for the shipping information. Perhaps you can re order the device online to get the ball rolling for you to get your iPhone 6 plus as desired as opposed to going to the store of which inventory can change depending on the availability.
    Thank you!

  • IPhone SDK: switching from UIVeiw to UIWebVeiw

Hey, im trying to develop an app that has mail on it. It's a tab bar application, and has a tab named mail. on the tab i have 4 buttons, yahoo, gmail, hotmail, and other. i want it so when someone clicks the yahoo button for example, it goes to yahoo mail sign in. there are tutorials of this online, but only explaining switching from 1 veiw to another, not 1 veiw to one webveiw. If someone could please help, i would really appreciate it!
    Thanks, j0egas

Hi, and welcome to the Dev Forum!
I'm not sure I understand your requirements yet. I take it you want to log into a web mail server directly from a web view without using the onboard mail app. If that's the case, is there some reason you can't just make 4 view controllers, each with its own web view? Or are you trying to reset the same web view to a different url each time a different tab is touched? Separate web views would allow the user to have more than one active mail screen, but if you see some advantage in using the tab bar to reset the same page, I guess that could be done one way or another, though I think a tool bar might be a better choice in that case.
A tab view is designed to switch between view controllers. I don't see how that's inconsistent with what you described. But if it is, there are lots of other good ways to implement the kind of switch you want.

  • 6.1.2 - Switching from LTE to 4G randomly! ??

I have 6.1.2 installed on my Iphone 5.  Basically here's whats going on.
-LTE will randomly turn off and 4G will be enabled.  Even when you go to Cellular, LTE is switched on... but it's not on.
-Wifi is a disaster for me.  The signal drops in the same room as the router. I don't know how to explain the problem other than a CRAZY WEAK WIFI signal.  I don't really know what to do about this.  I've literally had 6 iphone replacements with 6 different issues that came with them.  They refuse to exchange anymore.  I don't recall this wifi being an issue on any of them prior to this one.  I'm hoping it's not hardware but, signs are pointing toward it being so.
-Battery seems better than in September when it would just die in standby.
While, I appreciate some things being fixed, I don't appreciate a company who basically gets fed up with helping somebody with their purchase.  Why did I have to get 6 iphone replacements?? Oh, that's right - because they are making these phones like garbage!  Scratches, Buttons improprly built that cause malfunction, wifi problems, camera problems, BAD BATTERIES.  But when it's all said and done, they refused to just keep on exchanging until I got what I paid for.  I think that's crazy.  The fact that I was loyal enough to say, Okay, let's try it again - instead of saying THIS IS PEICE OF GARBAGE PRODUCT (Which, i'm sorry, it is) speaks levels of my loyality.  I was dismissed from their care and I think that's ridiculous!  Sept 21st purchase, it's now Feb 23.  I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN WHAT I PAID FOR! Thats the truth.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
This should address the LTE to 4G switching, assuming the issue is not the LTE coverage in your area.  It should also help with the Wi-Fi connectivity.

  • HT4137 I purchased the iPhone 5 switched from iPhone 4S, how come if I delete a contact or add on my old iPhone it shows it on my new iPhone? How can I make it stop I'm planning on someone else using my old device

I transferred from an iPhone 4S to an iPhone 5, everything switched but it seems to be synced to my old phone. Info I delete or add a contact or music it will then do the same on my new phone. A family member will be using my old phone , how do I get it to stop syncing what I do?

If you have everything that you need on your iPhone 5 then do this to the iphone 4.
Go to settings - general - reset - erase all contents and settings - this will wipe your phone clean.
Then you can give it to your family member for use.

  • TS1398 why does iphone 3gs switch from wifi to 3g while still in wifi range?

I have an iphone 3gs and recently updated to ios 5.1.1.Now I'm having trouble with my wifi switching back to 3g,while still in wifi range.Didn't have this problem before i updated to ios 5.1.1 software. How do I resolve this issue?

I said WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), not WAP (Wireless Access Point)
If you have wi-fi you already have an Access Point, either as a separate box or (more likely) as part of your router.  Go into your router's administration to see what kind of security you're using.  If you're using WEP, which is an older technology that is not very secure, your router may very likely provide WPA2 as an option.  If so, try using that along with a new passcode for the network.  You'll likely have to "forget the network" on your device and then re-connect and re-enter your new passcode.

  • IMESSAGE PROBLEM. Switching from android to iphone

I'm having problems with my iPhone 4s . my carrier is tmobile. I can't receive messages from other iPhones and I'm looking for any suggestions out there to fix this problem for me. I tried resetting the network settings. I switched from android gs3 to this iPhone 4s. I just took out my sim card from the gs3 to the iPhone 4s. I shut off my imessage. I went to verify my account to the macbook t. See if I can plug it into to that imessage and it will start connecting but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

  • Personal Hotspot switches from LTE and gets stuck in 3G. Won't switch back

    Hi There,
My Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 6 switches from LTE and gets stuck in 3G service. The hotspot stays in the 3G service even when I'm back in an LTE zone. The only reason I know I'm back in an LTE service zone is because if I disable hotspot, put my phone in airplane mode, and turn it back on I get LTE service. Please note that if I wasnt using personal hotspot the phone seems to find LTE, go to 3G, and then back to LTE just fine.
This happens while I'm commuting to work on the train and consistently pass between multiple cell phone towers.
    Any help?
    Thanks!!!

To recreate this...First make sure WiFi is off and that you have 3G turned on (go to Settings-->General-->Network) and that you're in a real 3G area (you'll see a "3G" symbol in the upper left of the screen
Then turn off 3G (go to Settings-->General-->Network and turn off 3G.) Wait a few seconds for the phone to switch to EDGE (you'll see the "E" indicator in the upper left of the iPhone screen once it's on EDGE). Then simply go back and turn 3G back on in Settings->General->Network. The phone SHOULD automatically reselect 3G and you'd see the "3G" again in the upper left part of the screen but instead you'll just see the same "E" in the upper left because it's not switching. To force the switchback to 3G after performing the above example, turn on Airplane mode and then turn it back off after a few seconds. For me, this always resets the radios such that 3G will again appear in the upper left of the screen and the phone will run on 3G. Otherwise it will just sit on EDGE even though I've turned 3G on. Strange but consistent.
I just tried this and my IP4 switched to 3G after turning back on the 3G and accessing a web site. It took about 5 seconds, but it did switch on its own. It did not happen just sitting there, I had to make it do some work (by loading data).

  • I switched from an iPhone to a Droid and can't receive texts from iPhones now, help?

I switched from my iPhone 4s to a Droid and I do not have that phone anymore. I can not recieve texts from anyone with an iPhone and can not get in contact with my girlfriend or siblings now. I think their phones are trying to send their texts as iMessages to my phone that does not recieve iMessages. How can I just delete my Apple account and recieve texts again?

Sounds like you didn't turn of iMessage on your iPhone before making the switch.  If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it.  Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

  • I switched from an iPhone to a Galaxy s4.  Everything seems ok except text messaging with people who have an iPhone.  I can send them a text, they can see it, but I cannot see what they text back.  What can I do please?

I just switched from an iPhone to a Galaxy 4S and I like it except for text messaging.  I can text, they can see it, but I cannot see their response if they are using an iPhone.  Can you help me with this?  What do I do please?

Congratulations on your new phone kathdogg! Now let's get your messaging working correctly. If you still have your old device, turn it on, go to settings, and turn off iMessaging.
If you are no longer in possession of your old device, you will need to remove your phone number from your Apple Support Profile. This can be done here: http://bit.ly/1cst2SC
Please keep us posted, and let us know if this resolves your issue!
