IPhone 3G touch screen unresponsive

Hi, so my iPhone 3G has been working greets until this evening when the row of icons above the dock wouldn't respond to my touches. The area is completely un responsive in the home screen but when i go to the notes key board only the J and N won't respond. Additionally in my settings menu i cant click on anything in that same area but when i go into photos or calendar the area is responsive. I tried apples touch screen diagnostic by going into the calculator and found that 4,5,6 and + are partially unresponsive. I'm not sure if this is a software or hardware issue so any input would be great.

Have you tried the basics from the manual?
Restart.
Reset.
Restore.

  • IOS 8.1.3 - iPhone 6 touch screen unresponsive

I updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1.3 last night. Seemed to work fine last night and early this morning.
Now my touch screen is unresponsive. I can swipe up to reveal Control Center and swipe down to reveal Notifications - but can't interact with them.
I can't shut off my phone (can't swipe across after holding down the Sleep/Wake button). Is it worth doing a hard reset? Anybody else having this problem with an iPhone 6?

I did a hard reset. Seems to be working...for now...

  • Upper right hand corner of iPhone 4 touch screen unresponsive - Is there anyway to turn on cellular data?

A small portion (upper right hand corner) of my iPhone 4's touch screen is unresponsive. Now, I cannot change some of the settings since it won't respond. I am on an out of the country trip and I really need to turn on Cellular data.
Is there anyway I can change the phone settings from my macbook? Or maybe rotate the settings page so that it would show as landscape and I can turn on cellular data since the other areas of the touchscreen is working.
    Thank you very much!

    Here's my suggestion:
On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Cellular (where you would turn on cellular data if you could).
You can actually scroll that menu down a bit so the "Cellular Data" button is not necessarily in the far upper right corner of the screen.  Hopefully you can scroll it down far enough that you can successfully set it.

  • IPhone 5 Touch Screen Unresponsive?

Hello, today while I was at school, my iPhone just became unresponsive. I can't clearly remember whether I was using it or not. I came to notice the screen on my iPhone 5 was opened (slightly lifted on the corner) so I pushed it in and it snapped right back, however it refused to work. The home and power button however still does work.
I have been unable to back up my iPhone 5 since iTunes wouldn't let me backup unless my phone was unlocked which I currently can't do. My friend are telling me that there is a chance that something got disconnected when the screen came up?
My dad said he'd take me to the Service Center here in Korea tomorrow, but I was wondering if replacing the screen will do any harm or damage to my data?! The last time I backed up was over 40 days ago since I got a new computer and never set my iPhone 5 up with this one.
If at all helps, I am currently using iOS 7 Beta 6.

Then you should be posting in the Developers forum, iOS 7 is not released to the general public. This is a general public support community.

  • My iphone 4 touch screen is unresponsive

My iphone 4 touch screen is unresponsive and I can not slide the arrow to unlock the screen or to poweroff the phone. I have reinstalled from my backup several times and still no change. I even rebooted the phone by holding the power switch and the hom ebutton, but still no changes.
I'm wondering if i need to do a clean reinstall of the software to fix the problem or replace the phone (since it's still under warranty).
    Any suggestions

sounds like you really didn't fix it correctly, doesn't it?  Since you did the work yourself, Apple won't even touch your phone now.  You'll need to bring it into a 3rd party repair shop.

  • My iPhone 4S touch screen is unresponsive and my Sleep/Wake button is also unworking.

Hi. I have been having this bro;em yesterday and also today when i woke up. My Verizon iPhone 4S touch screen is un responsive sometimes then it workes other times. My Sleep/WAke button also doesnt work. My phone thinks that my sleep button is always being pushed so if my touch sreen is working i can do anything becuase my phone puts it self to sleep when i unlock it. I was on IOS 5.0.1 and then updated to IOS 5.1.1 thinking that this would help me but i didnt. I really need some help. Thanks in advance.

A Restore is more thorough than an update. Try to Restore with iTunes on computer. If still problem, all iPhone 4S have full warranty, make Genius Appointment and return to Apple for resolution.

  • Touch Screen unresponsive after iOS 8 update

My 1 year old 64GB iPhone 5 touch screen started to become unresponsive after iOS 8 update
It's not consistent. Touch screen functionality will seize whilst phone is being used for either answering calls, typing messges, surfing, gaming etc and won't become responsive until it is turned off and on again (via power button). Home button is functioning with no problems.
As the phone is now out of its warranty period I want to verify if it's the OS that's causing this or do I actually have a hardware issue.

I have the same issue. iPhone 5, 1 year-old, not even a scratch.
Sometimes my touch screen works, sometimes not. When it works, it is just for some seconds, then some phantom touches start to happen all over the screen, but specially, when i'm typing, it types z or m, when I try to type something in, and it receives it, it will act as z or m again....
If I switch off my screen and switch on again... sometimes it will work, sometimes it wont... veeery unstable.
I considered downgrading to 7.1.2 but since I heard it is ilegal I decided to wait for a new iOS release.... any suggestions? (already wiped it and the issue continued...)
Is it really not recommended to downgrade it and have my phone funcionalities back?

  • IOS 7 making touch screen unresponsive

Since updating to iOS 7 my iPhone 5 touch screen has become intermittently unresponsive. It was fine and normal in iOS 6 and was refurbished less than a month ago (my lock screen wasn't working and I got the phone replaced). How do i solve this problem? The phone will often times not respond to any sort of touch making swiping, typing, and holding something down impossible. It has been like this since updating to iOS 7 when it came out more than a week ago.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
    - Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear.  (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
    - Relaunch the App and try again.
    - Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    - Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
    - Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
    - Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
    - Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
    - Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

  • Iphone 6+ touch screen issue erratic behavior

iphone 6+ touch screen erratic behavior.  the main issue started this week, it comes and goes, and  starts with inability to even swipe the unlock slider, and which mimics that of trying to use phone with a wet hand. when tying who knows what will actually happen, app in use closes, opens, you end up on a different message while trying to respond to someones text.  clearly my inputs are not at all related to what the phone thinks is being pushed.  have done partial, settings, and a full restore and issues came back 2 days later.  deleted flesky and any apps installed in the last 30 days and the issues persist.  case on or off, factory charger and cables, zero moisture exposure all irrelevant to this issue manifesting itself.
at this point i am thinking hardware and only because behavior of touch screen has been marginally flakey the last 6-8 weeks prior, i thought it might be certain apps, but certain areas of the touch screen seemed unresponsive especially near the center.  those issues too intermittent,  and because they were minor, i wrote them off to the apps themselves, or perhaps some bug in iOS8 that would be fixed in an update.
so it seems likely the earlier issues were real and related to the phone and not too specific apps.  whatever it is it needs to be addressed immediately by apple as it is clear my issues are not isolated.  i do not have hours to spend at some genius bar trying to prove an intermittent issue exists.
    apple, what is your response?
    james

Having the same issues with my 6+.  I've also seen these vertical stripes around the upper right of the screen periodically as well. I did some searches here and tried resetting the phone and a full restore from backup.  It seemed to resolve it for a little while then the erratic behavior came back.
Today, I took it to the Genius Bar today and they are replacing the LCD screen under warranty.  When I get it back, I'll do another full restore and hope that fixes the issue.
What's most frustrating is I've been an iPhone owner since the 3G and never experienced issues with the touchscreen like this.

  • Is anyone with a Macbook experiencing interference with their iPhone's touch screen?

At first I thought my iPhone's touch screen was broken so I contacted apple. Before we could finish our chat, my internet crashed and we couldnt finish. Tonight I'm on my MacBook air wathcing Netflix and trying to use my iphone to text. The interference is so bad that when i hold my thumb on the screen in one spot, the phone will scroll for itself and typing is practically impossible. Is anyone else expierencing this problem? This problem didn't exist with my 4, But when I use my computer, my 5S is practically impossible to use near my Mac.

    Nope.

  • My iphone 5 touch screen seems to have a mind of its own. Please help

My iphone 5 touch screen seems to have a mind of it's own. Whilst I am trying to type a text message it will quite often whilst i'm tapping on letters, typr different letters, or open up the edit messages to select and delete messages.
The screen can quite often take up to 5 attempts to use the home button when the phone it locked to bring up the swipe to unlock, and even then sometimes it will take 4 or more attempts to swpie to unlock.
Most recently I was on FB chatting and whilst typing, the letters were all coming out completely wrong, and then it was taking me into completely different screens, screens that whilst i'm tapping letters at the bottom on the screen, i'd have to ne touching a button at the top of the screem to actualy get into - yet my phone is doing it on it's own.
It has even whilst sittig next to me on the bed, scrolled from my "home page" to the next page over ???
i have spoken to Telstra who suggested a network restore, this did nothing. They suggested doing a back up, the a complete restore, which I am hesistant in doing as I have a fear of losing everything on my phone esxpecially my contacts, despite having done a back up.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Restart your iPhone...
Hold down the sleep / wake button until you see the red slider then swipe to power off. Then hold down the sleep / wake button until you see the Apple logo.
Try the keyboard. If that doesn't help, try force quitting the app you are using when the keyboard becomes unusable.
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then press and hold the Home button until the app quits.

ok my iphone 3g touch screen is not responding, i can recieve calls and it can charge and connect to itunes, but i cannot go any further than using the home button or the power button, it is only the slide feature and touch feature that has become non existent.  Also, i have a f'ew cracks in my screen for a while now and it was running smoothly up until saturday when i sat on it applying large amounts of pressure to the phone screen.  Is there a way i can fix this myself without having to recover my phone to factory settings or wasting 50 bucks to get it fixed??

  • HP 8620 Touch Screen Unresponsive - Firmware Software Bug?

Hello, I have the latest "firmware update" on the HP 8620. Can someone please confirm this bug? I don't know if it is just for the HP 8620 or if it applies to all HP touchscreens. Basically if you go into any setting option, then hit the "home" icon and right after you swipe either left or right, it ends up rendering your touch screen unresponsive to swiping left or right. Is this bug already a known issue? The only way to correct the touchscreen so it is responsive again is hit the question mark, or an icon on the bottom and hit the home button (without swiping left/right right after the home button).

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that you're experiencing issues with your touchscreen on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you. Please confirm you have the latest Firmware Version: FDP1CN1502AR. If you do not, please go to HP's download page by clicking here. As far as I know, this is not a known issue with the printer or with the printer's Firmware Update. This could be a glitch in the touchscreen, which a Reset should resolve. Let's start by performing a Hard Reset.Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds. Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power bar or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. If you're still experiencing issues, we may need to perform a Semi-Full Reset. I can send you that information in a private message. In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck!

  • IPad 4 touch screen unresponsive

Touch screen unresponsive, cannot unlock device. Replaced touch screen, now I get nothing from LCD display. Triple checked ribbon connectors. Where should I begin looking for solutions: battery, logic board, LCD display? Tries to connect to iTunes, but without display working, I cannot enter passcode.

I'm sorry, but if you took your own device apart there's nothing anyone here can do to help you. Your issues are a level of technical support that's beyond what's covered here.
Maybe an unofficial forum would serve your needs better.
