IPhone 3G wi-fi - no longer connects to wi-fi

For the last few weeks my phone has not connected to my wi-fi or other wi-fis. It will sometimes see them but has trouble connecting or simply wont see the wi-fi. It works fine for other devices so i know it is not the wi-fi. The phone is now 2 months out of warranty, will apple do anything to help or will it cost me?

If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the iPhone's backup, more than likely there is a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else.
If you live near an Apple store, make an appointment to have your iPhone tested. Apple has iPhone diagnostic equipment at the store to determine if the wireless card has failed. If so, Apple doesn't have a menu of repair services except for replacing the battery with an iPhone no longer under warranty. Apple has an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail sales price. The cost is $199 plus tax which includes a 90 day warranty and doesn't require signing a new contract with AT&T. If out of warranty, there may be a 3rd party repair service that will replace what needs to be replaced only, which may not be much less expensive to do just that.

    As I mentioned earlier, when I clicked on the App Store or iTunes Store, the message reads "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" or "Cannot connect to App Store" depending on which I clicked.
    I did check iTunes & App Store, it used to show my Apple ID there, but somehow it shows empty there. I then manually typed in my Apple ID, it just won't work. I know for sure that my Apple ID works as I tried logging online using that ID fine, but my iPhone and iPA

  • Since iOS8 update on 2 iPhones and iPad, they no longer connect wirelessly to OSX iTunes

    Prior to updating my 2 iPhone 5 and iPad2 to iOS 8, they no longer appear wirelessly in iTunes on my Mac - they used to do this, which enabled the shifting of music etc so much easier.  They do show in the sidebar as devices if connected by cable but this is a pain.
    They are all backing up by WiFi.
    Have I missed something or has this option been removed?
    I'd be grateful for any advice.

    WiFi sync does not work in iOS 8. I've filed a bug report with Apple.
    My devices will show up in iTunes immediately after a device reboot, but within 24 hours, WiFi syncing is broken again and they no longer show up.

  • IPhone and iPad can no longer connect to iTunes Libary via Remote

    Up until a couple of hours ago, I had no problems controlling iTunes on my MacBook Pro via my iPhone or iPad. Now, on both devices, I get an error saying it can't connect to my Library.
    All devices are connected to the same network. I get the error whether my firewall is on or off. I have tried re-adding the Library. When I do so the relevant device shows up in iTunes and the pairing process SEEMS to work. It tells me that my iPhone can now control my library, but it still can't connect.
    I've tried rebooting the router.
    All devices show the same ip address for the router and all are on the same subnet.
    I've just upgraded iTunes to 10.2.1 and everything on the iPhone and iPad has the latest upgrades.
    Also when I go to the iPod app on my iPhone and go to More -> Shared -> and then my library, I get an error saying "Cannot Connect to Media Libary"
    I've seen this advice, "You must also have the iTunes preference "Look for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad Remotes" enabled. " I cannot find this preference anywhere. It's not something I've ever looked for before so possibly the name of it has changed in a recent iTunes release. Can anyone tell me if I'm looking for the right thing and where I might find it?
    Any other ideas?

    Hi Everyone, I found a solution to this problem with no "Look for iPod..." option.
    Check "Allow iTunes Audio Control from Speakers"
    Then, RESTART iTunes.

  • Purchased iPhone 5 and can no longer connect interface to my seat Ibiza.

    Bought an iPhone 5 with this lightning adapter thing expecting to be able to simply connect this adapter to my previous interface for my Seat Ibiza which worked, and still does work with my iPhone 4. Now with the iPhone 5 it only charges the phone and does not play the music, it works through an audio jack (3.5mm) but this is annoying as with the interface it allows you to be able to select playlists, songs etc. through the buttons on the car stereo and steering wheel. Through the audio jack it does not. Can anyone help with this? I have 10 days for an answer to this, otherwise i'm sending the bloody thing back!

  • IPhone 4S and 4 no longer connect to Airport Express after 7.6.1

    My network has experienced some issues, but only with the iPhones in our house connecting.  Here's my set-up:
    Airport Extreme
    Two Airport Express that are extending off the Extreme.
    All are on the newest firmware 7.6.1 and I have updated the Airport Utility on the iMac.  They are all green and I've reset and reconfigured them each with no results.
    The iPad and Macbook Air in the house both connect fine to the Airport Express stations.  It's just the two iPhones.  One is a Verizon 4S, the other is an AT&T 4.  I have got neither to connect to either Airport Express.  I've put them in Airplane mode and left them 5 feet from the Airport Express, but they continue to pick the weak signal of the Extreme (even though the iPad right next to it picks up the strong signal of the Express).
    Should I look into downgrading just to salvage iPhone connectivity?

    It sounds like i had the same issue (Airport Extreme with an Express extending the network and my iPhone's wouldnt connect to the Express anymore).  I went into the Airport Extreme through the Airport Utility and then changed the wireless settings (Wireless Tab / Wireless Options) and created a 5GHz name (radio mode set to automatic).  Now my iPhones can connect to the express and everyhing seems to be back to normal after the firmware update debacle. 
    After i upgraded my firmware to 7.6.1 i noticed my airport express was transmitting only on the 5GHz band (channel 161 or whatever), now after i changed this, it's transmitting on channel 11.

    I took my iPhone 5 off charge yesterday and now when trying to reconnect the lightening connector it doesn't fit! It won't go in all the way and fails to connect by a few mm. There's nothing inn iPhone slot blocking the connector. Any ideas????

    iPhone warranty is provided by Apple, not AT&T.  If you're beyond the intitial 2 week return for refund, you need to go to Apple.

  • Can I use the same app on 2 iPhones if one is no longer connected to ATT?

    I have a iPhone 3G. I want to eventually get a new one (when the next gen ones are available). I want to keep the old one so one of my kids can use it as a "touch". Can I sync the same apps to each phone? I know you can share the same app on an iPhone and iPad, but not sure if this can be done with 2 phones.

    You can sync as many devices as you want to the same itunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. Itunes will keep everything straight, by device, on subsequent syncs.

  • Iphone 4s Bluetooth will no longer connect?

    Hi All,
    For months my Bluetooth has worked fine on my phone and has been connected to my Parrot system in my car. Now all of a sudden it has stopped working? It is 100% the phone as my wife can connect her phone to the parrot system. When I go to settings - bluetooth it just constantly says searching. It will not pick anything up?
    Has anyone come across this before and can anyone help? I have tried turning it on and off and have reset network setting and had no luck?

  • IOS 8.1.1 can no longer connect to corporate wifi

    After updating a couple of corporate iPhone 5s' they now no longer connect to the corporate wifi. This happens whether updating OTA or a complete wipe and reload in iTunes. Wifi worked fine before the 8.1.1 update

    We have 2 separate discussions going on here. You jumped into a thread about a problem connecting to a corporate WiFi network with a post about a different WiFi problem. You have been answering questions asked of the original poster, which kind of confuses the issue. Look at who a post is in response to before answering.
    For your problem, does the phone fail to connect to all WiFi networks, or only one (e.g., your home network)? Do you see WiFi networks when you tap Settings/WiFi?

    About three days ago the ability to connect came and went and the connection never lasted more than 10-15 minutes; it has not been able to connect since last night. I do not think it's my wifi router as non-mac lap top has no issues. I have seem many similar questions posted.

    Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds. Also, if your router still has its default SSID (such as LINKSYS, DLINK, NETGEAR, etc) change the SSID to something unique. Note that all other devices on your network will have to be reconnected if you change the name, but if the name is still the default that is most likely your problem.
    If the SSID is not the default then the reboot should fix it.

    I have just upgraded my itunes to 10.3 64 bit but since the upgrade my itunes no longer connects to my phone, its fine with my ipod classic, I;m using the iphone 3gs 32 g.     It's possible that the iTunes software didn't update properly.   Try the specific steps below for the iPhone first:

    If the issue is not resolved, you may need to uninstall iTunes and all of it's components, and reinstall the latest version as explained in this article:

    If I understand correctly it sounds like your phone hasnt been recognized in iTunes on your PC since the last couple of updates. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article which will walk you through the steps one by one.

    No, it is not a known issue. It is a known non-issue. Try resetting your IMAP login ID and password. Both the incoming and outgoing. If that fails delete the account reboot the phone, and add it back.
