IPhone 3G WiFi disconnects and reconnects every few seconds

hey guys
i just updated my phone to 4.0.1 and lately (before the update as well) my iphone has been playing up on me
Like the wifi works and all but when i go to the appstore for example...it disconnects and reconnects constantly and stops downloads cause it stops like 1-2 secs it begins.
i tried everything resetting network settings, turning phone on/off, DFU mode, taking off WPA and broadcasting the modem, it just doesnt want to work.
Mind you this was working for around a month and just like 2 days ago this happens and i cant fix it. I even tried the McDonalds free wifi and that works but its very slow couldnt download anything but it didnt disconnect/reconnect
Also the router is working on both the Wii and PS3 without a prob, just these 2 days on my iPhone
any suggestions?

I upgraded my 3G to 4.0.1 and had the same issue - could not connect to my secure wireless network. It DID, however, connect to my neighbor's unsecured network. I tried resetting Network Settings, resetting All Settings, rebooting my iPhone, rebooting my router, multiple times, all without luck.
I had to do a FULL RESTORE from iTunes, install as a NEW PHONE and now I can connect to my wireless network. But even after the full restore, I don't see any improvement in phone performance. Still slow, still laggy, still crashes (requiring a reboot) with some apps. And now I have a phone set back to factory default. Grr.

I am using FF 19.0.2. I have multiple gmail accounts. One of them continually disconnects and reconnects every 5 to 10 seconds. It only happens with the one account. It only happens in Firefox. I am using Windows 7 64 bit.

  • Time Capsule disk disconnect and reconnect every 5 minutes

This problem began with Airport Firmware 7.6, and has continued to perist with every subsequent firmware version.  Reverting to firmware version 7.5.2 eliminates the problem.  Running with the latest firmware version 7.6.3, on OS X 10.8.2, the Time Capsule disk is disconnected and reconnected every 5 minutes, and this is seen in the console log:

Has anyone found a solution to this, other than reverting to Airport Firmware 7.5.2?

Welcome to the club.. there is a very long thread.. here.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3526741?tstart=0
There seems to be any number of factors.. where the solutions are little silly things..
Start from the end of the thread and work backwards as this has been ongoing for a long time.. and experience has improved.
What you are seeing btw is the change apple made in Lion and 7.6 to higher security version of AFP.. but it is a mess IMHO.. and has not worked at all well.

  • EA4500 Internet Port Cycles On and Off Every Few Second

I bought a EA4500 to replace my old WRT54G earlier this year.  At first the router worked fine.  After the automatic firmware upgrade to Cisco Connect Cloud, I was never able to get the Connect Cloud stuff to work, constant 500 Internal Server errors when trying to access the router with the Internet cable attached.  So I downgraded back to the old firmware and all was well again.  Then I started having problems a few months ago, when I would wake up in the morning, the router would be cycling the Internet port on and off.  I could usually reboot everything and it would work the rest of the day.  I lived with it like this a while, and support couldn't seem to find anything wrong.  Eventually it started getting worse, until the point I could hardly ever get it to stay connected.  I got Cisco to RA the old router and I figured problem solved.   Now while the EA4500 was gone, I used my WRT54G again, and everything worked fine for nearly two weeks while I was waiting on the replacement EA4500.
So today the new EA4500 showed up, I connected and configured it, and it worked for a short time.  Then suddenly I lost Internet, looked up at the modem and the LAN light was going on and off every few seconds.  So I'm back in the same boat as before.
I've tried changing cables, same setup works fine with the WRT54G.  Modem works fine with WRT54G and connected directly to the computer, zero problems.  I tried lowering the MTU, turning on MAC address cloning, and various other things.
My modem is a HughesNet HN9000.
Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly apprecaited.
    David

OK, the setup as is works fine with the WRT54G, just the EA4500 has the issue.  It started working again last night, and was working this morning.  It continued to work until about 3:15 PM today, and out of the blue, my computer came up and said the Ethernet connection went off, then it came back on, it did this several times...at the same time, I looked up at the modem, and the LAN light was going on and off on it also.  So the router was cycling both the Internet and Port 1 on and off.
My HN9000 has a static public IP, and the IP it's DHCP server gives out is one digit different than it's own IP.
My router is set this way, and this is what it gets if I switch the Internet to Automatic (DHCP):
    IPv4 Address: 97.xxx.xxx.194
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252
    Default Gateway:  97.xxx.xxx.193
Then there are two DNS server addresses.  I've tried the router setup as Static IP or Automatic (DHCP) and the problem occurs either way.
The HN9000 seems to pass all incoming traffic straight to the router.
One the LAN side, the router is configured to give out IP's in the 192.168.1.x range, and I have some static leases set.  The router is 192.168.1.1.
Everything works with the computer connected directly to the modem, and with the WRT54G in place of the EA4500.
As far as calling Hughes, they won't support the router.  If it works without the router, and with another router, they will say it's a problem with the router, which I think it is, just not sure what.  Also, just to be clear, I do loose Internet access on my computer when the router acts up, but the HughesNet modem remains connected to the Internet.

  • Internet connection off and on, off and on, every few seconds

This problem started on my new MacBook Pro - Internet connection was cycling off/on, off/on, every few seconds.  Sometimes restarting the machine brought back a steady connection.  Then I was using Teamviewer to transfer files from Mac Mini to MacBook Pro and had good connection for hours.  Then suddenly - off/on off/on every few seconds, exactly like the MacBook Pro.
Tried all the usual things but here's the clue that the problem is likely in Mavericks 10.9.2 or peculiar to the Mac in some other way: I have a PC on the same network and right now, as we speak, connection is steady, so it seems clear the problem isn't my modem (though I did try resetting it) or ISP, while the two Macs both are cycling WiFi off/on off/on every few seconds, .
    Anyone got a clue?

Clinton, from various posts in forums about the Motorola SBG6580, an integrated router/modem, and seeing several posts about exactly the problem I am experiencing, it appears pretty likely that  a firmware update is needed.  Goiing into my modem admin panel, I do see that the firmware version is a much earlier number than the version recommended by various users.  It also appears I am not able to do this myself and must call my ISP, which I can't do until tomorrow.
Sounds like I know what I'm doing, doesn't it?  Ha.
If it turns out this doesn't solve things, I'll come back and try to answer your questions.

  • Macbook pro Display freezes and darkens every few seconds

    Hey ,
I just bought my Macbook pro 15 inch late 2013 few months ago , I'm new to Apple products ,
My screen started freezing and darkening every 4 seconds , starting from when I power it , until I shut it down even If I don'tt run any programs
I can't move the cursor while it's freezing or do anything , but for example If I write any text , the text will show up when it unfreezes , and If I'm listening to music the sound doesn't freeze . I tried the safe mode , and reseting the PRAM and NVRAM , running disk utility in single user mode and said that everything is fine , I checked my hardware using apple hardware test and also said that everything is fine , I removed the flash player thinking that it may be the problem but nothing changed . I don't know what I'm doing because as I said I'm new to all of this but I tried random things and nothing seems to work , I would really appreciate any help .
PS. when I tried taking a screenshot of the screen when it freezes and darkens a little , it appeared normal in the screenshot .

After the PRAM reset did you reboot the MBP and the projector?
If not, connect and power up the projector, the power up MBP.
The monitor itself could be on the way out, is there another monitor you can check it on.
Another thing you can try is a VGA cable with the DVI adapter and see if that performs better.
You can also try a different cable, since it worked fine in the past, I'm just trying to help you.

  • Why is firefox lagging and pausing every few seconds on mac os x

I have a brand new iMac running Snow Leopard with 8GBs of RAM. I've been using Firefox 3.6 for a few days and its acting up. Every few seconds it will pause , nothing will move. For example when I'm scrolling, typing, clicking on something. A few seconds will go by until it finally will respond to my input.
I read somewhere else that if you go the the firefox profiles folder and delete sessionstore.js should solve the problem. So I quit firefox and delete that file. And it will be normal for several hour or a day. After a lot of use the same problem happens.
Please anyone, if you know what the problem could be, please help. It's super annoying.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you, tklaus!
This issue has been driving me nuts for months, ever since I upgraded from 3.* (I don't update very often). Thinking it was just a bug in the latest version, I updated all the way to the current 'latest version', with absolutely no change in this behaviour (if anything it got worse). Tried disabling all addons, it was a *bit* better but still noticeable and irritating, and besides, what use is FF without addons?
Adjusting the session save interval to once an hour (3600000) seems to have reduced or eliminated *most* of the hang-ups, making FF much more usable again! Thank you for giving me my browser back!
(FYI, FF 5.0 running on XP - told you I don't update very often! :)

  • MacBook Pro won't boot - stays on black screen and beeps every few seconds

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro has been having issues - when powered on wont boot past the white screen and more recently will just stay on black screen and beeps every 5 seconds. I had someone look at it and it seems apparently the motherboard is the problem
and either needs fixing or replacing. As I am traveling in Nicaragua the closest apple store is in Managua (capital). Would I be able to get the motherboard looked at and replaced if need be at this apple store? Also, does anyone know the approximate price for the motherboard to be replaced? Up until a few days ago the laptop was still turning on and working every now and then but now stays on black screen and beeps.
Any advice would be very helpful!
    Thanks

It means that your Mac's memory is damaged > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2538?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
First, replace the memory modules. You can buy more memory at OWC or Crucial. It can also be replace by a reseller.
If it doesn't work, the RAM slots are damaged, so your logic board has to be replaced. It costs more than a half of the price of your MacBook

  • Disconnecting and Reconnecting ever 7 seconds?

Why do both of me iOS devices (iPad 3 and iPhone 4) not stay connected to my Time Capsule? They will both only stay connected for about seven seconds then disconnect only to reconnect 7 more seconds later. Any one else having this issue? I am not having any issues with my MacBook Pro so I have kind of ruled out the Time Capsule as being the issue.

Do other devices disconnect as well?

my new mac air is only a week old - it was working perfectly til yesterday now it won't hold a wireless connection.  won't even hold with an ethernet connection to mobile phone.

I regret to learn of the issues, funeralguy77! Lets figure it out together. Can you try to connect another device to the same WiFi connection. Does it connect? Have you tried to delete/forget the connection and trying again?

  • Airport Connection Disappears and Reappears every few seconds?!

    Hi,
I'm a big mac user for 15 and never really had any serious problems that some google couldnt handle, and right now i'm pulling out my hair in fustration with my router.
Anyway, I'm using a wireless ADSL router modem called 'SWART2-54125' which is an updated firmware version of its actual model 'SWAMR-54125' and its only in the room next door connected to my dads imac G5. Its been fine for ages but recently I've had to update its firmware because it couldnt connect to itself anymore (don't ask.) and now that i've finally just got it all set up, my macbooks airport keeps blinking on and off with the connection.
Is there something in my routers settings that could make it a stable connection? its got pretty much the same advanced settings as other routers just in a different interface so feel free to tell me to change something.
Thanks alot, would appreciate the help.
P.S I'm 100% certain its the router and not either of the macs. and just so you know my dads using the first version of the G5 with tiger and i'm using the newest macbook running leopard

I would download KisMac and check for other access points and what channel they are on. If there is an access point on the same channel and it's too close you can have all sorts of problems.
You can also look to see what the noise of the signal for your access point is. If is pretty bad, that can also be your problem.
Finally, some cordless phones can cause major problems with wireless signals. If you have a 2.4Ghz phone you might play with the channel of your access point and see if you can find one that doesn't interfere as much. Or if you know for sure it's the phone you could replace it with a 900Mhz or 5.4Ghz phone.

  • Wifi is going on & off every few seconds, how to repair this?

I took my MacPro Mid 2009 model running Lion Safari  6.0.2 to the Apple Store Thursday of last week to the Apple Store located in Tampa @ the Interconential Mall, left it overnight with an Apple Genius Technician & picked it up the following evening. My Wifi upon arriving home was on the top of the list as the APPLE Location, I last used my computer. I changed that & dragged my Wifi from home to the top. I did this becasue my Wifi is turning off every few seconds, which makes downloading & surfing the web a big pain!  What can I do to keep the wifi to stay on? My Mac everytime I open it, occasionally makes a sound like a disc is in it and there isn't one. I know there is no way they could hear it at the Apple store due to the noise & so many people there.
I had a technician come to my home to check out what my internet speed was, he corrected that he said & told me I needed a Time Capsule to connect to my router. If I am not correct, please correct me but doesn't a Time Machine work as a router & a backup?

Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessage at. If your iPhone number is listed in there, select it and unselect your email address to use for Messages. If your phone number disappeared or never was in there, you will probably have to turn off/sign out of Messages on your iPhone and on your iPad and then start all over again by signing into Messages on the phone first, then on the iPad. Your phone number should be available to use for Messages in the setting that I described after that.

  • ARD crashes every few seconds

I have recently noticed that I have an 11GB crash log for ARDAgent on a Panther server. When try to access the server over ARD I get a message saying that it is reconnecting every few seconds. ARD states the version as 3.1 and gives information about the server but it's status is VNC On. Which is strange because VNC access is switched off!
I'm now deleting the crash log daily and ARD access is pretty unusable. I have all ARD options enabled except VNC, and there are no firewalls switched on between client and server.
Other Macs on the network continue to work with ARD just fine.
    Any ideas?
    Chris.

Now reolved, following the guidance from Brian Nesse in the thread "ARD Agent continually crashing".

  • Bluetooth Audio sound cuts every few seconds

    Hi,
The title pretty much expains all. Everything else works with my BT headset. Pairing is okay and I can hear the  sound from headset but ithe audio cuts on and off every few seconds. So the bluetooth audio is useless.
I have  upgraded several times the driver. I even changed the BT adapter (the HW), but still same.
    Laptop is Elitebook 2350p
    OS is Win 7

Your notebook is an Enterprise/Business model. I would recommend posting this in the HP Enterprise Support Forums for better coverage.
You can access the enterprise support forums at the following link.
    http://h30499.www3.hp.com/
However, my own personal opinion is there might be an issue with the headset, not the hardware/software on the notebook. You mentioned even changing the bluetooth hardware and the issue remained, which leads me to believe it might have to do with the headset and Windows 7. Have you tried another headset on this notebook to see if the issue was the same?
