Do you seriously think that Apple engineers/programmers write the update code, decide it is good, and then push it out for use and there is NO testing done?
The problem is, especially once 3rd party apps were allowed, there is no possible way to test every possible permutation/combination of iPhone that exists. If you did try this there never would be a new model or any new firmware.
As to your statement, "as obviously there was a fault somewhere...", since mine is working correctly as is most of the people I know, isn't it "obvious" that there is nothing wrong with the update?
But neither statement is correct. As with every update (on every device, on every piece of software, etc), some people with a particular combination of hardware/software/firmware will have a problem. Then the task becomes doing homework, tracking down and fixing the problem. Sometimes this does result in new firmware (3.1.3 anyone?), but then you have to be careful not to "break" the vast majority of iPhones that are working with the "fix".
Not an easy task all the way around.

When you say it "can not scan any wifi network" do you mean it is not detecting Wi-Fi networks?
Is Wi-Fi turned on in Settings > General > Wi-Fi?
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
Is it just the home network that the device will not connect to? or any network?

I would instead say you have a problem since nearly all IPs work as advertised.  IF you do have a bad phone, take it into an Apple store and get a replacement.  Hope you didn't jailbreak your phone though as Apple probably will tell you, you broke it, you fix it.

    Hey Xxx_Dank_xxX,
Have you ever been able to sync your iPod shuffle to iTunes on your computer, or has something recently occurred?  Are you working with a Mac or a PC?   Without knowing what has been recommended to you, I'm going to start here with the basics troubleshooting for this issue.

  • I have tried many times to reset my apple pw, it says email sent but I am not receiving it.  Any ideas where to go from here?

I have tried many times to reset my apple pw, it says email sent but I don't receive it.
Where do I go from here.

    Hey Sharon,
ive been trying to reset one of our employees' acccounts since last thursday,
after several failed attempts.  My case was escalated.
I've since been told (today) directly by itunes/account/apple id - support, that they can't reset our password,
    due to a system update.

  • My home wifi won't connect to my iPhone 4S (only) I've tried everything from troubleshooting Please Help!

MY home wifi won't connect to my iPhone 4S. It connects to every other device besides my phone! I've tried everything from troubleshooting! It can't find the wifi and when I reset network connections it now won't even let me turn it on! Pleaseeeee someone help this Is driving me crazy!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

Try erasing your network preferences again from settings-about-reset and erase or something like this and try reconnecting if the problem persists try changing the name and password of your router and if you it keeps not connecting you will have to try restoring your iphone through itunes on your PC.
    Hope this helped.

  • Itunes/Iphone/Ipod device driver issues - tried everything. Still not working.

After hours and hours of research, I'm completely stuck. Here's the basic problem.
When I plug in my Iphone to my laptop, windows pulls up a little window that says installing device driver software. After several minutes, the process fails and a message comes up that says windows found drivers for my device, but encountered an error and wasn't able to install them. In the device manager, the iphone is listed as an "other device" with a yellow triangle/exclamation point. Itunes never recognizes the device.
When I plug in my ipod nano 4th generation, the exact same thing happens, except it's listed in the device manager as an ipod. (same yellow triangle though.)
Up until today, both of these devices have been working properly, syncing without trouble. The iphone synced wirelessly and the ipod every time I plugged it in. I can't figure out what on earth happened to my laptop today that messed things up.
It's also worth noting that I have another older ipod nano... second generation, I think, that plugs in and is recognized immediately, works perfectly.
Here is what I've done so far:
    1. I worked through every single troubleshooting guide that Apple has to offer. No change.
    2. I did a complete clean install of itunes and all additional components, rebooted and reinstalled. No change.
    3. I uninstalled/re-installed usb controllers in the device manager. No change.
    4. reset both the phone and the ipod. No change.
    5. I've tried various cables. No change.
    6. I've run system checks and repair utilities for windows vista.
    7. I've used selective start up to see if another program is interfering. I've stood on my head and counted to one hundred. I've only said seventeen swear words.
At this point I've done so much searching and troubleshooting, I can't imagine how anything is going to fix this issue. So this is my last hope. Please oh please be smart enough to tell me what to do...

Not sure if this is significant, but in a weird turn of events, when I tried plugging the ipod in this morning, the little message that pops up to install device driver software actually told me the drivers were installed successfully. However, in the device manager, it still says the drivers are NOT installed properly, the little yellow triangle is still there and the ipod still isn't registering in itunes, or my computer. So. Not really any improvement, but a different symptom none the less?
    I'm desperate, guys. Someone help?

  • IPhone not recognized by iTunes - tried everything

I need some serious help. Was trying to install the 1.1.4 update on my iPhone, and got the 1602 error. Searched the net for solutions. Tried a different port, as someone suggested. Didn't work. Then I did something (don't remember exactly - maybe switched back to the original port, or perhaps uninstalled & reinstalled iTunes), and now iTunes does not detect my iPhone. Have tried everything recommended in an Apple support article. Removed all Apple software - iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Service - and reinstalled. Still, iTunes does not detect the phone. Have all latest versions installed.
Can someone help? I have been without a cell phone for 2 days now. Really missing it.

    Problem solved.
I always started iTunes and then connected the phone. This time, I left the phone connected, exited iTunes and started it again. And it detected the iPhone, which was in recovery mode. Did a restore and successfully installed 1.1.4. And good that Apple got it right this time and had backed up my addresses data, so I still have it. On the 1.1.1 & 1.1.2 updates, I had lost all my stored addresses. No music, though, but I can get that by syncing it with iTunes.
One complaint I have - a couple of songs that I bought from iTunes via my phone are lost forever. Was not able to figure out how to put a song from the phone into iTunes. Syncing only gets the music in my iTunes library on to the phone. What about songs that I have on my phone that are not in the iTunes library? If I can't put them on the computer, they are going to be lost in the next restore. And I paid good money for them, too.

  • IPhone 4 will not restore - TRIED EVERYTHING

So I have a multitude of issues with my iPhone 4 and after trying a multitude of fixes that I could find, no change.
Here are the issues I'm currently facing:
    - iPhone will not turn on whlie NOT connected to power source
    - When connected to computer, iPhone will display apple logo then switch off then back again continuously
    - I can put the phone into recovery mode (with itunes logo and cable display on screen) but am unable to put into dfu mode (I've tried everything)
    - when put into recovery mode, iTunes will recognize a general iPhone 4 connection and prompts to initiate a recovery
    - iPhone only registers with iTunes not with computer
    - Recovery yields either error 21 or error 3194
    I have tried:
    - Tinyumbrella: iPhone shows up under "Recovery Devices" with a question mark and a series of random numbers
    - altering host file
    - all manner of restore in iTunes
Is there ANYTHING else I can do to fix this **** thing?

What I would do is run an anti spyware scan / anti virus scan with the iPhone connected to the computer. This way all of your files from both an be checked. It sounds like you have a Trojan that often causes computers of any type to force a shutdown and go into a reboot mode. My guess is you might have had this occur recently on a computer you linked to. If not it may have come from a shareware program or a download you've recently installed. You can down load all of your iPhone files to your computer, run the scans, disconnect your iPhone before file deletion sir scrubs , reset to company settings/ default mode then plug it back in so you can re download your files once they've been scrubbed. If this doesn't work try to disable the location off mode and redo everything again. This way your privacy settings might block or scramble the malware or virus that's tracing your device through your computer. This is the best advice I have. Web root Spysweeper will destroy anything and use a full based line antivirus program. If you connect your device to a work computer chances are it came through an email while it was connected. At any rate good luck and this is the best home remedy I can come up with. iPhones aren't supposed to be inflicted because they don't run on most active x programs, but if a file you're using does that may be your intersection point.

  • My ITunes keeps cancelling my sync to my IPhone 5s and I have tried everything!

I recently got a new IPhone 5s for christmas and before that I was using an IPod touch 5th generation. Obviously I wanted to get all my old data from my IPod to my new IPhone and the only problem it seems I have now is that when I try and sync my music from my ITunes to my IPhone it always cancels the sync. the music left on my iphone has a red circle with a dot which means it's downloading but it's not and ITunes says all my music is already on my iphone but clearly not.  I recently updated my ITunes to 11.1.3 and I have an IOS 7.0.4 version on my IPhone. I've read that this problem is happening a lot and mainly due to the new IOS/ITunes updates? I have literally tried everything from rebooting my entire IPhone, backing it up via Mac AND ICloud, deleting and re-syncing all my songs and nothings working. I feel so lost with out my music please help!!

The same thing is happening to me now and it's just been since the  update before last, it seems. And the strange thing is that it's only doing it to songs that are demo-versions (I'm a musician) that have no metadata or ISRC codes or anything. Songs in this format have been transferred in the past without any problems, but that's changed; they show up as ghost songs on my iPad mini (which is fully updated) and any playlist that has one of those ghost songs in it will not play, even if the rest of the songs are fine.
I think Apple needs to address this fast because I'm sure I'm not the only one receiving non-commercial Mp3s or .wav files and needs to use them in various forms on our devices!
