IPhone 3G will not send email with Wi-Fi turned on?

With the iPhone 3G Wi-Fi turned on I can not send an email. With the Wi-Fi turned off I can send email. Anyone have an answer?

Who is your email service provider?
Does the issue occur on all Wi-Fi networks?
If you are using an AT&T outgoing email server like CWMX.com, the iPhone will only be able to send emails when connecting to the Internet over AT&T's 3G or EDGE networks.

Generally you can avoid send mail issues by switching to a Yahoo!, Gmail, AOL, or MobileMe account.

Outlook 2003 will not send emails with itunes running

Has anyone been subject to this issue? While running itunes, I can not send emails. I have to shut itunes down and then the email can be sent. I run XP Pro and have Outlook 2003. Itunes is updated whenever an upgrade is avaialable.

I'm seeing that same problem on my computer. I've tried looking all over for solutions, but so far I haven't found anything. The only workaround I've found is to hit Alt-s to send the message instead of pressing the send button.

Thank you Modular 747! I rang my SMTP server and yes the problem was with the server information, my server xtra has recently become part of YAHOO and where I had xtra as my SMTP it should have been YAHOO! (including the ! mark)... so now I am able to reply and send by wireless.
I know where to go now for any other problems, although my STMP helper said if I have any trouble again with anything regarding sending receiving I should delete account and ADD again to see if that rectifys the problem.

Check Settings>Messages>MMS Messaging to see if it's set to "On". Check with your carrier to see that your account is properly provision. Check to see if your carrier is a supported iPhone carrier. Not all features work or work properly on unsupported carriers.

TBird will receive gmail but will not send emails with TBird wants new password..

I can send and receive gmail online OK. I have a problem now that used to work. When I want to email a link to a page or send an email directly from TBird I get and error message. I tried retyping the gmail password but I get the same error message. I tried following some of the instructions on other pages, but I got all tangled up in all the words and examples not matching what is on my TBird

have you configured two factor authentication on Google (they send you a text usually with a password)

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

All of a sudden, my iphone will not send email to AOL. It says user name [email protected] is incorrect. I have rebooted, reinstalled and changed password that works fine on aol, still receives mail but will not send.

It looks like your SMTP server setting for AOL is wrong. I think it should be smtp.aol.com.

If you are only able to use your email account while connected to your home network, this may be a limitation put in place by your email service provider. For further support, please contact your email service provider directly.

After accepting the carrier update yesterday my iPhone 5s will not receive emails via my work Exchange system.

After accepting the carrier update yesterday my iPhone 5s will not receive emails via my work Exchange system. I can send emails, but can not receive. I deleted my account and added it back with the directed provided by our Corporate IT, but I still can't receive emails. I've hard booted and soft booted my phone several times to no avail. What else can I do to help remedy this situation?

I don't have any other email accounts on my phone and I don't get any type of error message. It just says "Checking for Mail" and I receive nothing, so I know that it is accessing my work email system. I haven't made any changes to my account. I only accepted the message to update my carrier system.....I do have an appointment with the local Verizon store to see if they can help.
Just FYI, my Exchange email account still works on my iPad, so I'm pretty sure the settings are correct.

When you set them up, did you set up both the incoming and outgoing email servers separately, and did you enter the correct SMTP server name, and enter your userid and password even though it says "optional"?
Something else to try, if you haven't, is delete the accounts, connect the iPhone to iTunes, on the Info tab check the box to sync mail server settings, then sync. This should duplicate the settings from your computer to your iPhone.

I've been an AT&T customer since they were under different names in the 90s and have never heard/seen that. I would check with them. I'd really like to see that error. To get a screenshot on the phone, press the home button and sleep/wake button together quickly and release. You will see the screen flash slightly and hear the camera shutter noise.

When you said you went to Settings and everything seems good. Does that mean the MMS was turned on? If so, and this is only being experienced when dealing with SMS/MMS, then you should contact your carrier to have them check to make sure your account is provisioned for MMS, and that everything is alright with your account. SMS/MMS is a carrier function.
