IPhone 3G with 3.0 software stuck in Recovery...
my iphone problem is this...
My phone was displaying this message...
Even if i had nothing connected to it.
Then, it would jump back to the springboard, and not let me do anything really. then it stayed stuck in the SMS app. Finally it asked me to connect to itunes, and i had to restore. now it keeps telling me to restore even after i've wiped it and "restored" it. Battery didnt charge anymore either
I took it to apple and the 'genius' at the one of the local apple stores said i need to purchase a new one. Said there was water damage to the phone, but the water damage sensors that proves water damage is unchanged/unaffected. Also said there was 'rust' on the dock connector. There was some kind of grime...but no rust. He then proceeded to use some tools to "wipe" the contacts of the dock port. as well as an xacto knife.
so all in all the verdict is that i NEED to buy a new phone. no free replacements for me. The guy wasnt even really helpful. cut me off whenever i tried to explain a symptom.
What can i do? Apple wants me to buy a new phone from them. But i'm a poor college kid...what can i do?

PLUG your iPhone to PC and go here on your PC...Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers. under unspecified you will see apple iPhone......right click on it and remove device. unplug your iPhone and replug it to your pc and iTunes should open and will see your phone. -
It will not update. Just sits in my App Store and freezes . I have a iPhone 4S with the latest software.
If it's freezing when you try to update apps, try force-closing the App Store app. From your home screen, double-tap the home button, locate App Store in the list on the bottom, tap an hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again. Try updating again...any difference?

My iPhone 4 with iOS 5, is stuck in the Facebook app and not able to do any operation.. Im not even able to go to Home. I connected to iTunes in my PC, it was not able to sync. I tried calling my number from other phone, but it went to voice mail.
Hold the Lock & Home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until the phone restarts and you see the Apple logo. You will not lose any data.

Updating iphone 4 with ios 7 software. Made it thru download and am now setting up security questions and it says optional rescue Email. However I do not have the option to skip this page. I even submitted a rescue email and registered it with my apple id on this website but cannot progress in set up. Am I missing a step? Phone is now in emergency mode only! Not sure what to do next.... Any suggestios?
Forgot to add that I want to power my phone off but cannot due to broken button... Any other way to power this phone off to help fix original problem!!

Just got my iPhone 4 and have tried to update it to the new iOS 5 software that has been released. I plugged it in, pushed update and restore and everything that your supposed to do normally.
But now instead of working, it is now stuck in recovery mode and cannot seem to get it out of there! I have tried many methods but cannot seem to find one that actually works!
Any help is greatly appreciated as I really want my phone up and running again!!!

Max.try to put your phone in recovery mode. plug into itunes and hold down the home button and top button until apple logo appears and then let go of the top button only. the phone should display plug into itunes.let go of the home button when this happens. disconnect iphone and plug it back in itunes should recognize it is in recovery mode. hit the restore button on summary page.

My Iphone4S wifi setting was grayed off and could not set wifi on even after I have reset network setting and also restore software from Itune.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.

Syncing iPhone 3 with old op software to more than 1 computer
My husband has an iPhone 3GS and it is currently synced to an old Mac. He can no longer update his phone op software because his Mac is too old. I want to sync his phone to my Windows computer running windows 7 so I can update his phone. Can I do this without copying the 8 gb of music onto my computer? I am sure once I do this, he won't be able to sync with his old Mac any longer. I read about changing the I'd files but I am not sure this would work in this case. Any suggestions? I know once he gets the phone updated, he won't really need to actually plug into a computer cease he can back up to the cloud. I just don't want to erase all of his music and photos.
Just be sure when syncing with other computer to not check the boxes on the music, video, etc tabs.
If other computer does hose your contacts, when you get back to the other one, before you sync (be sure to have auto sync off in preferences) go to contacts tab in iTunes and scroll down and there is option to force contacts on phone to be wiped and all replaced with what is on computer thus resetting it back to only what is on that computer. So be sure to have it up to date before going to other computer. -
after updating software on my iphone 4 to iOS it is unresponsive to touch & I cannot power it off in order to restore to factory settings. does anyone have any suggestions? thanks!! i'm desperate!
Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

To say that I am livid would be the greatest understatement EVER made in the ENTIRE history of the planet. Last night my iPhone 5 decided it would go into Recovery Mode. (That is.....a Black screen showing the iTunes logo, a white 'up' arrow and with the white cable/plug at the bottom of the screen).
(Hold onto your Samsung Galaxys people - do NOT throw/give them away when you 'update (yeh right) to an iPhone).
So I turned it off and left it off all of last night. I arrived at work this morning to 'sync/restore' it with my computer where it asked me to install the latest version of 'whatever it is the latest version of.' HOWEVER, as I do not have the administrative rights to do such things on my work computer, I was unable to do so and now I have been riding the 'Apple Merry-Go-Round' since 0630hrs (WAST). It comes up with the following message in a window on the screen:-
'The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (14).'
Gee - thanks for that - I'd never have known unless I saw that little window!!!! The fact that my screen has frozen and I am unable to install, sync or restore anything kind of gives it away!!!
'Just go to the nearest Apple Store' I hear you say. That is a 'tad' hard as I work in The Pilbara Region of North West, Western Australia (for 4+ weeks at any one time) and won't be back in 'civilisation' until next Monday week (10th of Feb, 2014)........Talk about being held to ransom by technology!! I have asked other people at work (who ALL have iPhones) and when I showed them the screen (& the whole ridiculous process) they screwed their faces up as they had never seen such a thing. Some people NEVER get asked to update/install anything on their phones.....So, I have to wonder why mine 'asks me'.......constantly.
I fear that my 'Apple' is not an apple but that it is actually a 'Lemon.'

Oh yeh - the opening hours actually say Sun 10:00am til 4:00pm or even 6:00pm in some places.......how convenient - when you call (them on their landline FROM a landline) you get the engaged signal!Thanks for that 'sberman' - because my iPhone is backed-up to my work computer (only at this stage) I have had to call our IT Department in Adleaide. (4 times this morning). The last guy managed to get the phone into 'DFU Mode' - no more recovery mode screen - (kind of 'asleep' perhaps) from my understanding of same. I am awaiting a call again from IT so they can get my computer to actually recognise my iPhone on the C Drive. This also happened to one of my colleagues in Newman (WA). She got so frustrated with the whole process that she bought another phone the next time she was in 'civilisation.' She hasn't had any problems since. (Cross fingers).

Double check the version of iTunes on your computer. You must have iTunes 11.1 or later.

IMac won't import photos from iPhone 6 with new Yosemite software
I have recently gotten a new iPhone 6 and have also upgraded my iPhoto and software to Yosemite. When I plugged my iPhone into my iMac, it said my phone wasn't recognized and to choose "Trust" on my phone, however, there was no place to "choose Trust." iPhoto was recognizing my iPhone and it said "locked" but now the iPhone isn't even showing up on the left side and it's not giving me any options whatsoever. I've researched this some and Apple says photo stream may be pulling pics in from my phone already but that's not the case. Help! I have lots of photos I need to upload.

I had the same problem on my iPhone 5, I read that it's an iPhoto update issue, turn off sync photos on iTunes on your computer and it will sync fine (except photos). Apparently this has happened before with an iPhoto update...
