IPhone 3G won't display own number

I have upgraded from the iPhone to the new iPhone 3G. My old iPhone would always display my own number at the top of the contacts page. This doesn't appear on my new iPhone 3G. I have taken the SIM out of the phone and put it into another to check if my own number is set ok on the sim card and it looks fine. Any way of getting this working?

I agree. Mine does this also. I think what is confusing is that when tap the top of the list, it goes to the search field. You need to "pull" the screen down a little to see the number. So it's still there, but it doesn't jump to the top to show you the number like it used to on the older software.

My iPhone 5 won't display smart text. It did when I initially downloaded the new OS, now those options don't appear at all. Did I click something to make them disappear?
I went into Settings to see if there was a component of it within Messages. I don't see anything.

Awwww......that's it....the dash! I tapped it. Tried to drag it up/down and it didn't move. Now I swiped and it's back!

Are you guys on N80 or other nokia phone. I just sold my Orange SPV M600. It was good for satnav due to its big screen, but got laugh at alot when i took it out with me.
I didnt even think about the N80 when i got my SPV M600 but think its more practical for me good phone cant wait to get a butchers at the N95.
Oh and lastly iive been trying to upgrade my phone to the V4 firmware and theh nokia software keeps crashing on WINXP and on Vista it seems to be update software itself anyway if you know info that can sort this out let me know and thanks again

My iPhone 3G won't display or connect to my home wifi network

I have an old iPhone 3G that my dad gave me a long time ago. It had some problems, but I figured that's just 'cause it's old. But now I really don't know. One of its biggest (and only) problems is that it refuses to connect to my home wifi network. In fact, when I go to Settings > WiFi, it won't even display my network (it did once, but failed to actually connect), or any network, actually. I found once that in Settings > General > About > Network (Not Available), it tells me "SIM not provisioned". I've heard that you don't need a SIM card at all to use wifi on an iPhone, so what's going on here (in case I didn't make it clear, I do have a SIM card in the phone, and this problem occurs whether it's in or not)? Do I need to activate my SIM card (and if so will it cost me anything)? Or is my iPhone just whack?

IPhone 5 won't show new number after porting

Verizon finished porting in a phone number into my already activated iPhone 5. Now the phone won't show the new number. It still shows my old number and I can't make or receive any calls. I have cycled on and off. I have also wiped the phone twice and gone through the activation process. I have reset network settings as well. Verizon shows all is well on their side. I even tried switching iMessage off and on as instructed on discussion boards but the phone stays on activating......
So far it makes a great looking paper weight. Any suggestions?

ok, I finally got a hold of a technical support rep that knew what she was doing. She performed an "authentication update" on her system and had me dial #2539. Problem Solved.

Iphone notes won't display attached pdf

I can create a note with an attached PDF (dragged from a Finder window) on my Mac laptop (10.9.4). The note is synced through iClound and the attachment can be seen and opened on a second Mac laptop (10.9.4). On my iPad Air (IOS7) a paperclip symbol appears in the note. On my iPhone 4S (IOS8) PDF document symbol appears in the note. However, the attachment cannot be opened on either the phone or the tablet. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I don't believe a PDF can be displayed within the Notes app on iOS devices...probably because you can't attach a PDF to a note using iOS in the first place.

Merge field won't display if number is 0.00

When the value 0.00 is brought into the word document via merge field, nothing displays. If the value is greater than 0.00, it displays that value. Is there way to display the 0.00?

To control number & currency formatting in Word, add a numeric picture switch to the mergefield. To
do this:
• select the field (e.g. «MyData»);
• press Shift-F9 to reveal the field coding. It should look something like {MERGEFIELD MyData};
• edit the field so that you get {MERGEFIELD MyData \# $,0.00} (or whatever other numeric format you prefer - see below);
• position the cursor anywhere in this field and press F9 to update it;
• run your mailmerge.
Note1: The '\# $,0.00' in the field is referred to as a numeric picture switch. Other possibilities include:
• \# 0 for rounded whole numbers
• \# ,0 for rounded whole numbers with a thousands separator
• \# ,0.00 for numbers accurate to two decimal places, with a thousands
separator
• \# $,0 for rounded whole dollars with a thousands separator
• \# "$,0.00;($,0.00);'-'" for currency, with brackets around negative numbers and a hyphen for 0 values.
The precision of the displayed value is controlled by the '0.00'. You can use anything from '0' to '0.000000000000000'.
If you use a final ';' in the formatting switch with nothing following, (eg \# "$,0.00;($,0.00);") zero values will be suppressed. Note that this suppresses 0s resulting from empty fields and from fields containing 0s.
If the above doesn't resolve your issue, it may be that the expected zeros are actually empty fields. In that case, you should be able to get the desired output by embedding the MERGEFIELD in a formula field, thus:
• select the field (e.g. «MyData»);
• press Ctrl-F9 to embed the field in another field, thus { «MyData» };
• edit the field code so you get {=«MyData» \# $,0.00} (or whatever other numeric format you prefer);
• position the cursor anywhere in this field and press F9 to update it;
• run your mailmerge.

Display does not go into landscape mode
Remember that photos, webpages, and applications will not change viewing-orientation modes when iPhone is lying flat. Hold iPhone vertically to switch between portrait and landscape modes or vice versa.
Verify that rotation lock is not on.
To test, open the Calculator application while holding the iPhone vertically (portrait mode). The standard calculator should appear. Then rotate the iPhone to a horizontal position (landscape mode), and the scientific calculator should appear.
Note: Certain apps and features may support only one mode, landscape or portrait. For example, the Videos app plays video in landscape mode, and Reminders uses only portrait mode. Not all applications on iPhone use landscape mode.

IPhone Messages won't display pictures after clicking on thumbnail.

On iOS6 either sending or recieving a picture in messages will yield a thumbnail in the thread view, but if you click on it instead of the full image being displayed it says "Loading..." then never shows the image.

Just do a hard reset. Hold your power button and home button at the same time until you see the Apple symbol. Then let go and let iOS reboot. It should be fixed after that.

IPhone library won't display in iTunes

I just plugged my iPhone into my computer and for some reason, when I try to open the music/movies/TV shows libraries on my phone, nothing appears. This is the first time I've seen this problem, so not sure if I altered a setting somewhere. I just got back from a vacation so I transferred purchases first, which all appear in my main iTunes library.
What can I do to view the libraries on my phone again? I know the stuff is there, I can see it on my phone, just not in iTunes.

Sorry, you can't, as it was a change made by Apple with iOS 7.1. There are no settings to change it.

My 3rd gen iPad & iPhone 4S won't display jpgs correctly

I have created these jpgs myself from photoshop, they are from illustrator files and i was toying with the idea of making some backgrounds available on my website.

As you can see it shows up fine until it enlarges. I tried it as a tiff and that worked fine but tiffs are just huge files so would prefer a smaller alternative if possible. Is there a way around this or maybe a better file to use, the images are saved in photoshop at the same dimensions and ppi as on the ipad page on apple.com.

Turns out, after poking around in my settings, I discovered my iCloud backup was still downloading even though there was nothing left to download. I cancelled it and PRESTO! Wifi downloading worked.

ITunes U artwork won't display in iPhone

Obviously, the iTunes U list should display like the audiobooks list.
_Long version:_
This is a really annoying issue and I have tried a lot of fixes. Basically everything works normal in every other circumstance, but when I view my itunes U list in the iPhone, every single thumbnail that is supposed to display next to the album/course name appears instead as the default blank music note.
Artwork images display fine when I'm viewing the list of music albums, audiobooks and anything else. I have assigned an image to every individual episode of iTunes U content...and when that specific episode is playing, the artwork is shown like normal. So the ID3 tag is there...and even the phone can recognize the image...
It's only when viewing the list of iTunes U courses that the artwork doesn't display (and frankly this is the most important, as it helps identify which course/lesson I'm about to choose).
Attempted solutions:
I have tried everything I can think of. I read that some MP3 audio files, "have known issues displaying track Artwork information" and that Apple recommends either converting the files to MP3 files tagged as ID3 version 2.4 or converting the files to the AAC file type format (.m4a). I tried both of those things.
I removed all iTunes U content from my phone, used iTunes ver 10.0.1.22 to convert the ID3 tag of one episode in one course, and to convert one episode from another course from mp3 to m4a. I deleted the images tied to those, and then reassigned new images. I then synced the phone...same story.
I tried using smaller images. I tried using different image formats (jpg, png).
The only thing that (kind of) worked is downloading directly from the iphone in the itunes app. The weird part there is though, the thumbnail image that displays is actually a completely different image from what is on the ID tag...when I sync the phone with itunes on the computer and the episode that was downloaded straight to the phone shows up on the computer...the image is completely different. And if I sync the phone again...the iTunes U list in the phone is devoid of artwork again.
ANY NEW IDEAS?

The chapter artwork displays just fine on my iPhone, but won't display in iTunes 9, yet I can click on the Chapters menu and see small thumbnails of the chapter artwork.
How do I get the chapter artwork to display in the main window during playback of the podcast.

Movie artwork won't display in home share on iPhone

I just finished encoding a bunch of my movies and using MetaX to quickly add all the meta tags (most specifically the artwork). I imported these movies to iTunes and everything has been great. Again, most importantly, the art work was showing on my iPhone (via home sharing) and Apple TV.
I had to restart my computer soon after importing the movies and now the art work won't show up for any of the movies on my iPhone (Apple TV is fine). I just get a still shot as the picture so I have no idea which video is which unless I tap the still shot and it'll have the title. Oddly enough, the art work shows up in this same place (above the title) but it won't show up at the main page which shows all my videos.
I just checked my wife's iPad and it's working fine there. I tried rebooting the phone, closing all apps and rebooting the computer again. Any other suggestions?
