IPhone 3G & Yahoo At&t email account

I recently just purchased an iPhone 3G. I hooked it up to iTunes & it went through the sync process. It transferred my contacts & email settings from Outlook to the iPhone. The iPhone now has 2 email accounts (from Outlook). The email account for Yahoo At&t allows me to receive messages, so the POP3 settings, userid & password are correct, but when I try to send an email message, the iPhone gives me an error message "Cannot Send Mail" - "The sender address was invalid". I double checked the SMTP settings & they seem to be correct. Currently set to smtp.att.yahoo.com, port 995, Auth required (password).
My 2nd email account on the iPhone from Astound sends/receives via POP3/SMTP just fine.
Has anybody else experienced this issue?
Any ideas?

Envision99, that worked perfectly.
I deleted the account, then created a new one. All I needed was my email address/password. It automatically figured out all the pop/smtp port, ssl, auth settings.
I appreciate the help!

Ok, so I'm having some difficulties setting up my yahoo.co.jp email account on my Aust delivered iPhone. Absolutely no issues with using my yahoo.com.au account...
SSL is turned on for both incoming and outgoing mail.
Incoming mail is "pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp" Incoming server port is 995
Outgoing mail host "smtp.mail.yahoo.co.jp". Outgoing server port 465 (previously tried 587). Optus server is off.
Password authentication is required on both incoming and outgoing mail. User name and password are correct, natch.
"Cannot get mail: The user name or password for "pop.mail.yahoo.co.jp" is incorrect."
If someone could help I'd be really grateful.

I had the same problem accessing my yahoo.co.jp account and after your directions i managed to installed in in Mail.
The problem now is that most of my emails in the account come out in strange configuration. Its impossible to read them. Do you have any idea how I can solve this??????

It's my understanding that an iPhone can only sync with one computer. You need to choose one computer. Sounds like it syncs at work, but not at home. If you want to just sync it at home, then you have to make sure the home computer has all the info that you want on it, like music etc. Then you have to deauthorize the work computer for it to sync at home. When you connect it will ask if you want to set up as a new iPhone or restore from backup. If you don't have a backup on the home computer then either way you will be wiped clean. So any photos, contacts, notes etc you have will be erased. You would need to backup or copy your photos from your iPhone. When you connect it to your home computer, it will give you that popup message to open your iPhone files. Then you can copy those photos and save them onto your computer and sync them back in through iTunes.
For your contacts, do you use any type of address book? If so you'll want to back that up and then transfer to your home computer. For notes, you can just email those to yourself and then save that email. I use MobileMe so the contacts issue is easily resolved.

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>your account>Outgoing mail Server SMTP>Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name + Password under Outgoing Mail Server.

How do I setup iphone to access my business email account on Outlook 2003?

I imagine this has been asked many times but I could not readily find the info in a clear manner. I would like to set up my iphone so it can access my company email, which is Outlook 2003. They use an MS Exchange server. Any specific instructions would be very much appreciated. (I do not know much about email servers, etc.)

FYI - although Outlook 2003 also includes calendar and address book functions, this is called an email client which is used to access an email account or multiple email accounts.
The only way to access an Exchange account with the iPhone is as what is called an IMAP account and the Exchange Server administrator must enable IMAP account access on the Exchange Server.
So you need to contact whoever at your company is responsible for this and ask if IMAP account access is enabled on the server and if not, are they able to do so. If so, you get the required account setup information from this person also such as the incoming and outgoing mail server information in order to access the account as an IMAP account with the iPhone's email client or with any non-Microsoft email client.

How do I set up to interact between Mail and my Yahoo.co.uk email accounts?

I have now tried several times to set up accounts in mail, so that I can send emails via Mail into my Yahoo email accounts.
I dont have any other email account at present. Just two with Yahoo.co.uk.
I have used all the relevant settings set out in yahoo. For some reason Mail just does not recognise the yahoo accounts. Can anyone advise??

Iphone 3G - cannot get POP3 email accounts from verizon to work

I have tried everything I know to do. I am unable to get my 2 verizon pop3 accounts to connect. Any suggestions? I am somewhat dismayed at the apparent Apple attitude that it's our problem, not theirs. In the past I've always been able at Verizon to talk to someone and resolve a problem. Not here it seems. Maybe I've made a mistake.

I have SUCCESSFULLY gotten my 2 Verizon POP accounts to work on my iPhone 3G. It took some trial and error but I haven't read this solution anywhere but it worked for me. I can send and receive from the iPhone from anywhere.
Prerequisite:
You need to set this up from your home or wherever your Verizon access is and you need WiFi there.
First:
Delete any Verizon accounts you set up that don't currently work.
Second:
Turn on and log into your home base WiFi.
Third:
Go to mail set up and add account/other.
Fourth:
Fill in the four fields using your exact Verizon mail account information. I say exact because I use a forwarding service to alias my email. Not now, that comes later and works too.
Fifth:
You will get an error (in due time, not quickly) that will ask if you should try again with SSL turned OFF. Answer YES.
Sixth:
Repeat; that error will come a second time. Answer YES again to turn SSL off. If you are lucky you should get four quick check marks on the settings and the account will be created.
Seventh:
Now send a test message (WiFI still running) to an outside email you can get to, like GMAIL or Yahoo etc. It may be slow to go, the first time. Hopefully it worked and you can reply and receive it back. You may need to refresh your mailbox. It gets faster/normal later.
Eighth: (Optional)
If it worked and you have an alias, change the appropriate fields now and test again and check the resulting email on the outside service.
Ninth:
and hopefully last. If all is well to this point. Turn off WiFi and test with AT&T native services. It should work. Make sure your Fetch options are turned on as Verizon isn't push.

One bad thing, since we set up this account manually it can't impost your folder structure and I can't see how to add any in iPhone OS.
I'm not sure exactly why this worked but my educated guess is by using the WiFi we're inside the Verizon firewall and the servers greet you as a known entity. Then when it works and you come from AT&T it recognizes you and welcomes you in. A handshake of some sort. It's not perfect and sometimes the fetch doesn't work, you may need to kick it along. But, you'll get your mail until Apple & Verizon, and maybe other services make nice.

Since updating to ios7 i keep getting requests to enter my password for yahoo mail, my email account, and the itunes account details too. The email is connected though and i have no problem receiving new emails. Any ideas ?

It sounds as if your account has been compromised. I would recommend logging into those accounts from your computer and their websites and changing your password.

Yahoo and Hotmail email accounts

After working fine for months, I can no longer access my yahoo or hotmail accounts. I get logon failed error messages when I refresh, and can not longer get my emails from either?

Talk to the IT administrator in your company. Quite often they have installed security settings to prevent access from any unauthorized mobile device or computer.
They should be able to tell you how to set the iPhone up to get access to your work email.

When I try to open links from my Yahoo! e-mail or even Google mail, the links will not open. I get a message saying "Safari can't open the page". This happens repeatedly! Any other websites open are fine and working.
I know this is another subject, so you don't have o answer if you don't want to. Can you tell me where the Screen Caption button is or how I can take a screen pic?

I have an iphone 4S with my primary email account as Yahoo (when I tap on the email icon at the bottom the screen, it brings me directly to yahoo). I also have a hotmail account. I want to know if I can have the hotmail account directly accessed from my phone (without having to go through Safari every time) by placing an icon on the desktop. If I can, how do I do this?

I'm nearly positive you can set up your hotmail as another account in the Mail app (as opposed to accessing it through Safari).
That won't do exactly what you're asking, as the same mail app would get both Yahoo and hotmail. But it should be an improvement.
