IPhone 3GS/4 using iOS 5, experience so far?

Hey fellow community members,
It has been a couple of months since iOS 5's release. I currently own a iPhone 3GS which is running on iOS 5.0.1. It used to be running smoothly, and still is, although I notice a few crashes here and there due to low memory. I have deleted iCloud, and regularly clear out my apps from the multitasking tray, and perform at least one hard reboot daily. Doing these things make my experience with the phone a little better.
So, I was wondering, how are you guys doing with your iPhone 3GS's? I am inviting all 3GS owners, and iPhone 4 owners to share their experiences concerning performance/bugs/positives with the new firmware, and overall experience, whether positive or negative compared to iOS 4.

I also have the 3GS with IOS 5. When I first installed it, i noticed a very slight slowdown. It wasn't enough to be a problem but now it has become so sluggish that it is an issue.
Like you, I clear the system tray regularly and reset often but the performance is awful. I also have apps such as comcast mobile (for personal email) that I have had to delete and reinstall multiple times because it simply stops working.
Very frustrating.

Just use the phone the way it is, forget the apps.

And whenever I try Backing up to iTunes or to iCloud via either a pc or a Mac, I get the message: "Itunes could not backup the iPhone because an error occured". I tried turning off all apps for backup, but that did not help. I tried deleting all the photos and that did not help either. I tried the backup trobelshooting and I have tried using different computers. I'm completely stomped.

Restore your iPhone 5 as new before you restore it from the backup. That will get rid of the old iOS and install a new one. Then you'll be able to restore from the backup.
Bear in mind that if the backup is larger than the capacity of the device then you will not be able to restore from that backup. In other words:
If you had a 32gb iPhone 3GS and you bought a 16gb iPhone 5, and your backup for your 3GS was 18gb then you would not be able to restore using this backup.

Is the device officially unlocked from the carrier? Was it purchased unlocked?
If not... it cannot be used with any other carriers SIM until it is unlocked.
Not all carriers offer unlocking.

A SIM is required for activation. If problems continue, the two most common activation issues are the result of a hacked or jailbroken device.

When I select the Edit button to do so, I'm only given the 2 options of "Share" and "Add To". My Camera Roll does everything the way I wish my Photo Library would. Can anyone help?

Only photos in the Camera Roll can be deleted. The rest of the photos got there by synching to your computer. You get them off the same way.

iPhone 3GS after updating Ios 6.1.3 cannot be activated. When I connected my iPhone to iTunes on PC, iTunes said that there was no SIM card on iPhone. I also took out the SIM Card and took in the SIM Card, but it wasn't working. I activated iPhone through WIFI but it said that the server was temporarily not available. I tried again more and more times but nothing's changed. Please help me.

iOS 6.1.4 is for the iPhone 5 only. It fixed a hardware specific issue. Your phone is properly up to date.
