IPhone 3GS battery spoilt, firmware problems.

Hey Forum,
I am using iphone 3gs and i recently found out that my iphone battery is faulty, i want to ask u guys if under these circumstances, is it faulty?
Problems:
-Fully charged in around 3 hours from 20% to 100%.
-Recently found out battery decreasing quite quickly(i think so, not 101% sure)
, btw, i restored my iphone software for around 3 times in a row due to some problems and around 7 times in total. I am a kinda paranoid person and sometimes when something happen to my possessions i juz can't sleep because I kept thinking of it, so I just want to hear from you guys if something is wrong from restoring firmware and that it can cause harm to my phone.
And would be really grateful if you guys can help me out, thank you so much, i really need to put my mine at peace.
Thank you.
Regards
ALa.

There are other threads out here with things to try...Look for those. If you try all these other suggestions and are still having drain issues, restore as a new phone, and don't add anything back yet. Just browse web, youtube, maps, txt, etc for a while, as well as standby...Let it go for as long as possible, and see how your battery holds up. If it's not ok at this point, then do a DFU mode restore. If that still doesn't fix it, then I'd say it's a trip to the Apple store for you...If this fixes the issue, then add back ONLY 1 thing at a time. Mail first usually, and watch for a while to see if it drains again. If not, proceed to next item(apps 1 at a time). After each added item, watch for a while to see if it drains ok. Should be able to narrow it down to the culprit. I know this takes quite a while to accomplish, so patience is needed, but as has been previously stated, it's usually bad or corrupted data in a backup that causes this...I had posted in another thread of same issues here. I was fine after the 4.2.1 update for quite a while(enjoying almost 3.1.3 battery life), then for reasons yet to be determined, mine started draining. I went into Settings where the Tethering item is located, and it was constantly clocking on that. Usually it clocks for a few seconds, then says Setup Tethering. Well mine was stuck there, so i think it was constantly using something. A hard reset cleared it, but I still have to try and figure out why it did that. I just don't have the time right now. I will most likely try as restore as new phone at some point. Apple did something though, because like I said, I'm enjoying almost 3.1.3 battery life now. I think it may have to do with cell radio, as I've seen something about NCFD being supported now in 4.2.

    Hi everybody,
I am using my iphone 3gs since 2 years. I have a problem, my phone turns off randomly when the battery level is at %20 or % 30. I dont know exactly when it is started. I thought my original battery is dead and i replaced it by new battery. But the problem still is here. My phone still turns off. Is there anyone who found a solution for this issue?
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Good day

    pls help,iphone 3gs no modem firmware,bluetoot,carrier

I finally bit the bullet this morning and set up my iPad as a new one after backing up. It didn't wipe out my stuff like I thought it would, but I did have to re-set all of my synch settings including apps which took a while to set up. My apps were still on the iPad with the 'sync apps' tab unchecked so I checked it and matched up all of my apps on the iPad screen using iTunes before I hit apply. Once that was done, there were a few apps that moved over to the second window, but was easily fixed. Everything's back to normal - assuming all of the videos and music you had on the iPad are in your iTunes so you don't loose anything. It kept my music, but deleted my videos. Other data was still in-tact. I never had to re-enter any passwords for Facebook or Netflix, but my email was all gone (not missing it since it's all online anyway). Hope that helps.

  • My iphone 3gs battery drains very fast

my iphone 3gs battery drains very fast it won't last for whole day
i just uses mail application and  facebook for some time
can u tell why the problem is or need to change battery

I'm having the same problem with my 3Gs.  In my case it is not the apps int he background or the brightness, or wifi or email push.  The folks at the apple stroe tell me that there is some software glitch that shows up every few months.
I can only get rid of it by restoring my phone as a new device.  In which case I lose all of my contacts, settings and all data.  VERY frustrating. I had recived two new phones (before applecare ran out) and have done the resotre several times.  No one can tell me what is in that creates this probelm.  I've tried differenet chargers one by one in case they are the probelm.  one int he car, one in a kitchen outlet, one at my home computer (sync) and on at my office computer (non-sync).
Problem just showed up again randomly two days ago,  no new apps or hardware.  battery drains from full to 0 in two hours.
    Apple, please fix.

    Update of the firmware?
    Thanks
That is NOT what you said previously. You said: "I try to close all the app, close all tab of safari, roaming is off for the data" We are NOT psychic. Your original statement does NOT indicate that you have 3g off.
If the phone is unable to lock onto the preferred  provider you set in manual mode, it will be constantly searching for the carrier signal. This will drastically reduce battery life. If you are out of range of the carrier you want to use, put the phone in airplane mode.

If you're still experiencing No Service, contact your carrier to check for any network or account issues that could cause these problem.

  • My iPhone 3GS battery loses at least 30% charge when off for at least an hour

My iPhone 3GS battery loses at least 30% charge when off for at least an hour, I took it in to an apple retail store at the end of 2010 and they told me it was fine but advised I restore and set up as a new iPhone which I did, it got better for about a month then went back to normal losing battery. I have no hardware coverage left and my specs are: iPhone 3GS 16gb  IOS 4.3.3 white. I have had it since December 2009.

I'm afraid I don't. I don't know if the phone is still within warranty. I don't know which country you are in. I don't know what third party repair companies charge where you are.
Hang on - I do know one thing: if your phone is still covered by warranty - it's free!

  • My iPhone 3GS battery

My iPhone 3GS battery is very weak it can not stand more than 12 hours after a full charge

same here.. . do i need to replace the battery for a new one?

  • My iphone 3GS battery exploded, and made the whole phone bloated.

My iphone 3GS battery exploded, and made the whole phone bloated.  I contact my local apple support and they said it is a normal case when battery is used for more than one year.  Where else can I can some reasonable explanations and solution from apple about my phone.  My phone cannot be used, and I have lost alot of valuable data and photos.  Can I recover them?  What can I do now?

If you've been using your phone as recommended, you've been syncing your data to your computer frequently, and importing any photos taken by the iPhone to your computer (or using photostream).  If you  havent' been doing this, then you've no one to blame for any data loss and any phone, which can be damaged, dropped, stolen or otherwixe become inoperable was NEVER meant to be a storage device.
As far as your battery is concern, is is NOT normal for the battery to "explode" after a year.  Contact an authorized Apple service provider or Apple itself to see what your replacement options are.

  • IPhone 3GS and Nike+ Remote problems

I've been using my Nike+ Sensor and Nike+ Remote watch with the iPhone 3GS and have noted problem. (I also have an 4th Gen Nano which works flawlessly with this kit)
The fast forward and reverse buttons work to "skip" to the next song or podcast, but have lost the functionality to hold them down a FF through the song or podcast.
    Anyone else have these problems?

The spoken feedback problem must be a bug. It happens to me sometimes and it can be fixed by either turning the phone off and back on or resetting it.

Since the last update to iPhone 3GS, battery usage has been extremely quick!  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!!

  • Iphone 3GS battery expanded

My iphone 3GS battery has expanded. I just updated to IOS 5.0.1. This means the Lithium ion battery charger never terminated or the battery float voltage was exceeded. I am an electrical engineer and have designed several Li+ chargers this failure is very severe and should never happen. There are multiple redundant safety mechanisms that must fail for this to happen. This can result in fire like that associated with the Sony laptop fires a few years ago. Has anyone else had this failure?

    Hi gdgmacguy,
As I stated in my question, I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if so if it also occurred after updating to IOS 5.0.1.
Since a fire in you pocket or your home has the the potential to cause personal injury and property damage I believe the fellow users should be aware of the dangers associated with this type of catastrophic failure.
This same issue with Nokia in 2007 resulted in the recall of 46 million Li+ batteries.

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, set it up as new device: Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
If still no luck, get it checked by an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple:
