IPhone 3gs cant connect to internet after OS4

Ever since i updated to OS4, i cant connect to the internet except at wi-fi hotspots. i reset all settings, restored the iphone, tried airplane mode on and off and nothing has worked. any suggestions?

I had the same problem that AT&T couldn't solve after my iOS4 Upgrade on my 3gs.
An Apple Tech double checked that airplane mode was off and then went to settings, restore network settings thru the phone's menu. It reset and suddenly all my 3g cellular connection was restored and everything worked again. But V E R Y S L O W L Y!
I am still getting 4-5 bars of connectivity, my all my speed tests show my 3g data connect at about 60-120 kbps or even slower. I don't know of it's an iOS4 bug or AT&T just overwhelmed by al the new Iphones added to it's network. I'm paying for "Unlimited Data" that now comes in so slowly, some of my apps "freeze" and time out when they can't connect.
And I have no official way of downgrading to 3.1.3 without hacking my phone...which can't be discussed here and may not even really work!

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

IPhone 3GS keeps shutting off randomly after OS4 Update

Right after updating my iPhone 3GS to the OS4, my iPhone randomly shuts off by itself. It will randomly shut down during a call, while downloading an app or typing an e-mail.
After it shuts off, I usually have to restart it and it will freeze frame at the loading (silver apple icon usually indicating it turning on) with many lines going accross the screen and red and yellow colors on the display. I have to re-shut it down to turn it back on and it doesn't even garantee that it will turn on properly.
The phone is brand new (I've had it less than 6 months) and it NEVER crashed before. I tried restoring to new, nothing changed. The phone has not been jailbroken either.
Has anyone been experiencing this as well? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem, i upgraded my Fiances iPhone two days ago and ever since then we have had nothing but problems. We have restored factory setting a few times, Uninstalled all the itunes software and done all the other bit the websites tell you to but nothing seems to be working. I am desperate, can anyone help.

My friend has an iPhone 3gs all up to date not jailbroken etc, shows a wifi connection, shows 3g connections, all settings appear fine.
However, will not connect to internet through any apps, safari, app store, facebook, you name it if it uses the internet it doesnt work!
As I say it shows its connected to wifi , shows full signal, shows 3g connection on Orange, once again shows good signal. But just doesnt work!
Have tried reseting, rebooting, restoring etc etc
Any ideas anyone?

hi everyone my internet isnt working on my iphone 3gs. i have the latest software etc and connected to a perfectly good wifi but cannot get on the internet and it comes up that server has stopped responding or that im not connectd to the internet. ive rebooted, restored reset the settings, turned it on and off and nothing still not able to connect can anyone help.

Hi everyone. I recently upgraded my Iphone 4S fromOS ver 5. to ver 6.0.1
Now if i connect to the internet via cellular data it does not work.
Before with the ver 5 everything was fine but with this upgrade things seem to be going wrong.
However the wi-fi connection is working very fine.

i recently installed intunes 9 and after that i cant get onto the store... i can get onto the internet but just not on itunes. i have done everything that the help thingy said to do.....please help me!

If you get it "frequently" that tells me that it does connect for you some time. Maybe one of these things will help. I have had the issue a few times and the thing that works for me is signing in and out of my account. YMMV.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.

Ipad 2 apps cant connect to internet after 7.0.6 update

Hi there can anyone help.
Im using an IPad 2 with wi-fi only and ever since the 7.0.6 update was available, none of my apps seem to connect to the internet (it has been like this as soon as the update became available, both before and after installing).
The browsers seem to work fine, but apps such as facebook, amazon and even the appstore come back with "cannot connect" or "network error"
Anyone have a fix for this?

I just did this network settings reset, but my problem is persistent. My iPhone 5 connected to my Airport Extreme perfectly for a long time, then starting about 3 or 4 weeks ago it will not connect. I have several other iPhone, iPads, Apple TVs and Macs in the household which all connect fine, but for some reason my phone will no longer connect, using all the same settings and login credentials.
When I enter the wireless network password, it seems to accept the password, but never actually connects. The little windmill icon just runs and runs, never resolving. It has been this way for weeks now, but only at home, I have no trouble connecting at the coffee shop, airport, or friend's houses. What's even more strange is that the iphone appears to be receiving an IP address from the router, it just will not communicate internet data.
If anyone has had any luck resolving this problem, your help would be much appreciated.

After taking the latest security dowload for Panther my airport extreme can't reach the internet. I had a similar problem a while ago when an airport update seemed to discriminate against my 'X-Modem'. Is there a conflict in this latest security update.

Does your Airport Status show you are connected to an Airport Menu ?
Are you able to connect to the X-Modem administration interface on http://10.0.0.2 and run the diagnostics ?

Cant connect to internet after Link installation

During install I get a box appear with Printers on the top and "could not complete installation" in the box. then installation finishes and said successful. I can back up my device at this point, but when I open my browser I can not bring up any page. I have had the same result with every version of link, including the new release today. I have uninstalled my old bb desktop software with revo uninstaller pro and still no luck. Laptop is running windows XP sp3, connected via wifi. I am thinking it is doing something that is telling my laptop to connect with the ethernet cable which is why it is failing. The minute I unistall Link, I can connect my browser to the internet again. Anyone have an idea what might be the issue. An update missing for some portion of windows?

Hi there. I have the same sort of problem with my MacBook. To get the internet working again I have to restart the system. Sometimes the same sort of thing (shows I'm connected but doesn't really connect) happens when I'm in the middle of using the internet. I've posted a topic ("Problem with AirPort?") about this also and I've gotten a few responses already. Maybe one of them can help you out (no luck for me so far though).

N97 cant connect to internet after firmware update

Let me start by saying that I've always been a loyal nokia supporter until the n97.
from the first day out of the box it has given me nothing but trouble!!! and i think that Nokia made a lot of mistakes with this "flagship phone"
But on to a more recent problem I've been having. i updated my firmware (via computer) to firmware v20.0.0.19 unfortunately I've completly lost the ability to go online through any form (3g /wifi) I've done everything i could think of (soft reset, hard reset) but nothing helps. I've read many threads who appear to have the same problem, only nobody has found a full prove solution (as far as i can see)
please prove me wrong. I'm at the point where it annoys me so much that i want to trow the phone out of a 5 story window

hi, sorry you're having problems, it may seem obvious but have you tried deleting all your internet access points, and then adding new access point ? May help, also I'm sure I saw another post with a similar issue also on 3, maybe worth contacting them as they are renound for tightly controling there branded phones and may be able to send you some new settings.
Hope you get it sorted it's a great phone once it's running right, and mine is on V2.1.

Your iPhone was "unofficially" unlocked by some means to work with a different carrier. Now that you have updated it has relocked to the original carrier. If you do not know who the original carrier was you will need to call AppleCare and give them the model and serial number of your iPhone. Then you will need to contact that carrier to see if they have a process to unlock the phone and if you qualify.

Have you tried:
