IPhone 3GS display connector?

Hi guys i have big problem with iPhone 3GS display,so i need your help here,i was  changing battery on my  device and the when i wanted to put back display i saw that connector 1 is hard to put on on connector on motherboard so i saw that conncetor  one don't havetwo pins ,i know that i need new cable or new display can you please tell me can  just replacew another ribbon cable because my LCD display is not broken,if you didm't understad this is the problem,so can i do anything or i need to buy new LCD display.

Your question is a little difficult for me to understand. If you think the LCD Display connector on the Ribbon Cable #1 is damaged, the fix is to purchase a new LCD Display. The Ribbon itself is not truly a replaceable part that I know of.
When working on an iPhone 3GS the iPhone must be OFF, or you risk damaging the LCD Display or the Logic Board components that control the LCD Display.
I do not understand how you know “don’t have two pins”? I have never heard of this problem? If you really know that two pins are out, then also examine the #1 connector on the Logic Board to be certain is has not sustained damage too.

  • What do you do if your iphone 3gs displays a tether picture to itunes and won't change? After going throught the manual i came up with a error message1002

What do you do if your iphone 3gs displays a thether picture to itunes? It won't change and after going to the manual and following directions, I find it is an error 1002. What does this mean?

Error 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with a known-good 30-pin Dock Connector cable, computer, and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value (00 499901 064000 0) can also confirm a hardware issue.

  • My IPhone 3GS Display is backwards all my writing is backwards way around so are my apps (Like a mirror image)

Hi Hope sombody can help me please..
My IPhone 3GS Display is backwards all my writing is backwards way around so are my apps
(It's like a mirror image) When I put my phone near a mirror everything is displayed fine.
I now have to leave my phone on all the time cos if I press my top button it will display backwards again and then I after keep pressing it loads of times. I have got the latest updates and I have re-booted my phone from scratch I'm running out of ideas. I have phoned Apple up and they have just told me to press my home button down with the other one to re-start it. No Joys :-(
This phone is not jailbroken,I'm on 02 pay as you go it was bought from new 2 years ago from the 02 shop.

Sounds like it's dying.  Bring your phone into Apple for an out of warranty exchange for $149 or find a 3rd party repair shop near you.

  • My iPhone 3GS displayed a message that it was overheated, now it wont turn on except for the Apple logo, and iTunes doesn't recognize it!

My iPhone 3GS displayed a message saying it was over heating and to turn it off.
I turned it off and the next day that I turned it back on, it wont go passed the main Apple screen.
It had a message to re-connect to iTunes, then that the IMEI and SIM were unknown.
Now it wont turn on at all!!

The terms of service of the Apple Support Communities prevent us from helping anyone with a jailbroken phone.
You're on your own.  Good luck.

  • Faulty iPhone 3GS Display

I recently replaced my cracked iphone 3GS display (with a full front panel assembly) and it worked perfectky for a while, but then the display went and all I can see is the backlight. It goes on when I press the home or lock button and goes off when i repeat. I have tried putting the original panel back (the display still worked on it) and the same problem occured. Please help

There was probably some damage to the logic board that occurred when you cracked the screen. It has gotten much worse.

  • Iphone 3gs displaying no service message

I replaced my old iphone 3gs by a new iphone 4s. After 2 weeks the new iphone was stolen but, when i tried to go back to my old iphone 3gs (with a new sim card), it kept displaying a "no service" message after I updated it to ios 5.1. I got back all the information stored in iCloud and iTunes and all the applications work fine, except for the telephone service. I tried changing different sim cards (including different telephone lines) but the problem remains. The phone worked perfectly well before this incident started. Help!

I forgot to say that I tried restoring the device many times, but couldnt fix it. Any ideas? Searching the apple site,
I saw an article explaining something about "udating carrier settings" http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4148
I dont have such option in my general settings

  • Iphone 3gs displaying NO SERVICE

i have a iphone 3gs and recently damaged the lcd and digitizer so had them replaced..not through apple. when i picked up the phone all was in good working order. by the time i got home the phone was saying NO SERVICE. and hasnt picked up any since?? ive tried loads of trouble shooting techniques i.e turning airplane mode on n off...removing sim whilst doing this...completley restoring the phone through itunes...updadting software...reseting all and network setting on the phone itself. i have also turned phone off then back on and it will search for networks then 'waiting for activation' is displayed. i really am at a loss as how to fix this problem!! can anyone please help?? (network-orange)

I would take it back to the place that repaired it and have them address the issue. They may not have connected everything properly.

  • IPhone 3GS display

I am using iPhone 3GS but display is not fitting properly to the screen. perhaps It is like this only but I have noticed it today.. a very thin black border is around the display so is it normal or display has been displaced???

Turns out that Apple moved the prox sensors in the 3G and 3G S. On the 2G there are two sensors just above the ear hole speaker thing. On the 3G and 3G S they are over to the side of the ear hole (left side phone facing up), and I think there are three of them. As you found out old cases don't work on the newer phones, unless you modify them. You can see the sensors by if you look carefully. I discovered this when I went for a 2G to a 3G. I explained the problem to an Apple phone tech, but they were stumped. Took off my case to take the phone back, it rang, problems solved.

  • IPhone 3GS  - Display Photos on TV via component cable

The original Apple Component Cable I bought does not permit mi iPhone 3GS to tranfer images to a TV screen.
I can hear the iPod music, but I can not see both Videos (selected from the iPod mode) and Photos (selected from the iPhone menu).
Even if I select the play button on the picture I can not see anything on TV screen. The slideshow starts on my iPhone only and only the music is tranferred to the TV.
    Thanks for your help!

    Got wrong cable from Apple.

  • Iphone 3gs displays no service and cannot activate

I cannot afford a smartphone, so my friend has given me his old iPhone 3GS when he upgraded to a newer model.
the phone has obviously been wiped so that it's as if it just came out the factory.
I enter the language, WiFi network info, etc. have also tried multiple WiFi hotspots, including my home Netgear/AOL, parents Huawei/TalkTalk and a pub's technicolor/plusnet.
whenever i try to activate it, the top bar says "Searching..." and then eventually "no service", and i get a message saying the activation server is unavailable, and have tried again and again to no avail. have tried powering off, removing and re-inserting the SIM, then powering up - same errors. the SIM pins appear all present and not broken/bent etc when I look into the device.
All I can say about the make/model is that it's an iPhone A1303, so it's a 3GS (Identify your iPhone model - Apple Support) . 16GB capacity.
I have no way of knowing the iOS version, IMEI or baseband revision (unless there's a mac/iTunes way of getting it?)
my friend is certain that he has never jailbroken the device, and that it has always been on O2 (the same network as me).
my SIM works in my old Nokia, receives texts/calls etc. my Nokia gets all 4 bars of signal.
I have also been in to visit an O2 shop, and had my tariff upgraded to one for a smartphone. They're certain it's not an O2 problem. I've probably had this SIM at least 8 years.
Have tried activating it by itself, and via iTunes 10.6.3(25) on Mac 10.6.8. iTunes says there is no SIM installed.
is the phone somehow blocked? how would i find out if it was? is it possible that it has been hacked to support O2 instead of another network (by a shop) - and that by scrubbing the data, it has wiped out the hack (in which case, how do i get the phone's ios/baseband/IMEI/original network)? is this a really silly thing like having to deactivate my old phone or having to register the iPhone with O2? is this a problem with the SIM, the phone hardware, the firmware or iOS? what if i got his old SIM - would that activate the phone, and is the phone just not accepting a different SIM than the original one?

    Here's what you do
1.Make sure your phone is not plugged into the computer.
    2. Put the iPhone into recovery mode (this is NOT DFU mode). Do this by
a). Hold down both the power/sleep button and the home button until the screen turns black/off
b). As soon as this happens release the power button but NOT the home button
c). If done correctly then the Apple logo will appear, KEEP HOLDING THE HOME BUTTON and eventually a connect to itunes graphic will appear. You can release the home button
    3. With the connect to itunes graphic on the screen, plug your phone into the computer. iTunes will start up if it is not already on, and then will say the phone needs restoring. Ignore this and COMPLETELY quit iTunes.
    4. With iTunes off and the graphic still on the phone screen, hold down both the power/sleep and the home button again for 9 seconds (count 100, 200, 300...) or until the screen goes black
    5. When the screen goes black release the home button straight away.
    6. It will start up with the iPhone activation screen ignore this. iTunes should have started up, if not do so. Go to the iPhone tab and either resotre from backup or set up as a new phone.
    You're welcome

  • Iphone 3GS displaying icons very largely.......

I am facing a very strange problem, my iphone model 3GS is displaying icons on the screen very large in size, than the usal format.
I tried to solve the problem by switching on/off, tried the settings options.
But did not go for restoring the factory settings, because of the doubt i may lose all the contacts saved in the phone.
Please advise any solution and clear the doubt of losing the saved contacts if i apply the factory resetting option.

If you select erase all content and settings on your iPhone, this does exactly as provided - it will erase all content and settings - everything but the firmware/included software.
If you restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, the same applies.
Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. With Windoze, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with syncing calendar events, or with Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only - the address book used by Windows Mail with Vista.
If you aren't currently using a supported application on your computer for contacts - the address book is empty, before syncing contacts with the application enter one contact in the application on your computer. Make this contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. Contacts between the two will be kept synchronized with following syncs. Syncing contacts with a supported application on your computer is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. You can do this before restoring your iPhone with iTunes which will also give you access to your contacts on your computer.

  • IPhone 3Gs Display Woes

I've noticed on quite a huge number of times that whenever I try to 'wake' the phone up from sleep - the screen is hardly visible. I can barely make anything out on the screen. When I press the power button once and then try to wake it - it comes on normal brightness.
Yes, i've checked all the display settings and everything is normal.
I want to know whether this is across the board or just mines?
    Cheers

  • After trying to update the iOS this morning,  iPhone 3GS displays the usb cable needing to connect to itunes

I followed these directions posted by Pilates-Contrology. His/her tips seemed to work for everyone else.
    Any ideas?
Did you try this? Found this in several places and it works for me
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click "Command Prompt" -> "Run as Administrator")
    3. Once in the command prompt, type "netsh winsock reset" and hit ENTER.
    4. Reboot your machine.
    5. Restart iTunes.

Oddly, I've now fiddled with it a bit more, and I can manage to get the Apple logo up for a short time, but if I let go of the hold button it cuts out again.
If I continue to hold it, the logo turns into connect to iTunes. I do this, no response from iTunes.

  • White screen of death iPhone 3GS 16gb

My iPhone 3GS displayed the White screen of death and was told to restore my phone but iTunes said there was a problem and now my iPhone won't turn on at all.

That happened to me once and the only was is to fix it is to use recovery mode.
    1. Connect your USB cable to your computer but NOT your iPhone.
    2. Turn your phone off.
    3. When your phone is off, press the home button and connect your iPhone to your computer.
    4. Your iPhone will turn on and keep pressing to the home button. iTunes logo will appear on your screen.
    5. You can start your restoration progress.
Hope this helps. Thats is how I saved my phone. It also seems to me that the phone you are using right now may had been jailbroken and stopped working.

  • IPhone 3gs No Service with 3G - works ok on 2G??

    Hello,
My iPhone 3GS displays the 'No Service' symbol when on 3G, but works fine with 2G.
I have swapped the sim, same thing. My sim works fine in another phone.
I have restarted, restored, reset network, everything. It all points down to a fault with the handset but the Apple store want £119 to exchange it!
Has anyone got any ideas what the fault could be and how to rectify it?
It has not been unlocked or jailbraked.
    Thanks

I'm assuming that you were patient when you turned on 3G. I have a 3GS and when I first turned on 3G (Setting/General/Network Enable 3G) the display read no service for about 2 minutes before showing a signal.
Also, and I'm not sure about this, it might be necessary to have a Wi-Fi link when you 1st enable 3G as it might be the case that the phone needs to update the carrier settings.
Also, in Settings/Carrier, I think that Automatic should be ON.
