Iphone 3gs email questions

Hi all,
I have an an iphone 3gs on Orange. My Internet provider is TalkTalk and I have a purchased private email address via names.co.uk
I have set up the email address successfully I believe. But it appears that I can only send and receive emails at home?
I can receive emails via mobile networks but not send ???
Is this because of talk talk ... and do I need to configure an additional outgoing mail server.
ALso ... I ve come via blackberry so fond of push email. I bought my wife an iphone3gs. She has configured a hotmail email, and for some reason, it seems that she gets alerted every time she has an email. where as I have to manually press the mail icon before I can check to see if I have mail. How I can I change this? or is this because I am using a purchased email address name???

You can put your 3G S sim card in another ATT phone and it will automatically become your present number. Therefore, you can sell your present phone anytime you want. For the present, I'm keeping my unlimited plan, but over the last 6 months, I'm only averaging about 1.5GB monthly. And that's mostly because I steam the Sirius App about 45-60 minutes daily while I'm walking. I would lean toward going with the 2GB plan IF ATT would kick up the monthly limit to say 5GB for tethering. I don't see myself doing a lot of tethering, but the 2GB would not cut the mustard for me unless I were to give up my Sirius App.

Iphone 3GS Email issue

I just purchased an Iphone 3GS (previous owner of 3G)
Had email setup through Push with my works Exchange server with out any problems.
Now, every so often I try to send an email with an attachment(or forward it)it gets stuck in my out box and won't send.
I have full signal!
Error: "Cannot Send Mail" An Error occurred while delivering your this message.
Ever since I have upgraded to 3GS I have been having issues sending email.
There are a few other people in the office experiencing the same problem with their 3gs, and all of the people with 3g are still not having any problems.
None of the settings at my job have changed at all.
Any help would be nice.

At times for Larger Files over 500 KB, I have, had to go into other
folders, and back out and into Sent, I did receive the error again
repeated steps above and it went.

This iPhone 3GS Email was Sent (Put in the Outbox at 3:53 PM.
To confirm the ability to still send email I sent another email at 4:44 PM, no attachment went through and was confirmed received by the recipient at 4:44 PM. Email continues to send, and receive bypassing the stuck larger email in the Outbox.
This Photo is 2.25 MB, all the while when asked to Fetch you will receive the Error on your iPhone saying Cannot Send Mail An error occurred while delivering this message. Though this documentation event is regarding a 2.25 MB file this happens as low as 81 KB, and I believe even smaller sizes. There have still been times when sending files up to 200 + KB that have gone through with little or no delay.
I tested this during an Apple iCare Support session and naturally the email with attachment happened to go through during the Support Phone call.
Checking the size of the attachments they probably weren't the best examples to test with, 55 KB, and 220 KB.
Going into Sent Box...Seems to be an accelerator for the Checking Mail...It also seems to have a positive impact on the sending of EMails with Attachments...I just discovered this but hope this will be valid.

IPhone 3gs Email accounts duplicated on my iPhone

I just joined iCloud and have 2 iPhone 3gs users sharing the same iTunes and iCloud account. Inexplicably the 3 Yahoo! email accounts I had set up on my iPhone prior to joining iCloud are now showing up twice on my phone (so if I have 3 emails in one account it actually shows 6 emails unread). How do I fix this without screwing up my email accounts?
P.S. - If someone could respond in layman's terms it would help tremendously.

I have the same problem with all of my email accounts on my iphone 4S. But it's not the phone, it's something to do with iCloud. I hope someone can answer this question because it's really annoying. I've already removed one of my accounts from the iphone and look online. I'm considering doing the same with my other email addresses.

Iphone 3gs emails send but won't receive

I have an iphone 3gs. The tech guy at work gave me the settings to set my email up on a pop server. It sent my test email but it does not receive any emails. The error on my desktop computer email was:
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
...............com on 1/22/2010 3:55 PM
No route was found for the recipient server. Please contact your system administrator.
The settings are the same for incoming and outgoing mail and I double checked it all. Any ideas?

IPhone 3GS Upgrade Questions

Hello,
Please forgive me if this specific question has been asked before; I haven't seen any exactly like mine. I believe I am not eligible to upgrade (I bought my iPhone 3GS on launch date last year) but I cannot check until I visit a apple retail store because I don't have an access code to see my account information on the mywireless section of the ATT website. I would like to purchase the iPhone 4 and keep my 30$ a month unlimited data plan. So, this is what I would like to know:
What options do I have if I want the new iPhone 4 with the $30/m Unlimited Data Plan I have now without switching to the new data plan(s) and I am not eligible to upgrade? Thanks in advance.

IPhone 3GS email notification

So I have an iPhone 3GS that I got about a month or so ago. I have a mobile me account for my email, which updates to the iphone automatically. Everything used to work fine, but ever since the iphone software update to the 4.0, Ive been having the problem that I will get a notification of new mail (the sound and icon on the main iphone screen) but no mail will show up at that time in my inbox.
Sometimes, when I go into the mail app, there will be the indication of new mail, both next to the inbox label and also when I go into the inbox at the top, but the actual mail will not show up, sometimes for a few hours and sometimes for a day. the mobil me also updates to my imac at home.
The iPhone update to 4.01 didnt help at all.

Hi there. I have had this exact problems during the whole day. My mail app crashes after 3-5 seconds. I have tried resetting, force quit, restarting etc. with no luck. But I have now solved my iPhone´s behaviour. I have Mobile Me mail and I got a "non dilevery report" in my inbox this morning. After manually deleting that specific mail from my iMac, the iPhone now work as it should. Mail app work fine. To check this; I put the "non delivery" mail back from thrash folder into inbox (from iMac). Then iPhone mailapp starts to crash again, and when I again deleted the mail from my iMac then iPhone mail stopped crashing and now works great. I have no idea why, but it solved my problem. Hope this help!
I have pushmail enabled by the way.

Hi yall! I was wondering if anyone knew if Apple was gonna come out with a new iphone..something newer than the Iphone 4. The reason i ask is because im eligable for an upgrade now but when i bought my 3gs last year a month later they came out with the Iphone 4 but i couldn't upgrade to it. So this time i thought id check before i got the iphone 4 incase they were coming out with something new!
2. is there a way to like color coordinate your calendar. everything is just a black dot and was wondering if there was a way to make things more personalized.

I don't know for certain, but I venture to say Apple will come out with a new iPhone at some point.

The original iPhone was release in the summer of 2007.
The iPhone 3G was released in the summer of 2008.
The iPhone 3GS was released in the summer of 2009.
The iPhone 4 was released in the summer of 2010.
Based on this, it would be a fairly safe assumption that the next generation iPhone will be released this summer, but there is no way to know for certain until Apple makes an announcement.

Which supported calendar app on your computer are you syncing calendars and calendar events with?
With iCal on my Mac, I have two calendars - one personal and one business along with a US Holidays subscribed calendar. I have each calendar colored differently. The dot for a calendar event with each calendar matches the color for the calendar.

Iphone gmail/email question

Hello there,
I was wondering if someone could answer a question for me. I have two email accounts set up on my 3G iphone. The Gmail account is set up and works fine. I was wondering if there was a way to avoid my emails (sent, inbox or otherwise) to NOT be deleted from my account......but only deleted from my phone....if that makes sense? If I delete anything to do with Gmail on the phone, it also is deleted from the entire account. Is there a way around this?
When I use my standard pop3 account, I can delete all the emails on the phone when read or dealt with but they still come down on to my mac as normal. It's just the Gmail I was trying to figure out.
So: When deleted from the phone......I can still access them when at home online.

For me,I need to delete emails from the phone, but leave them on my server; I set it up as POP, but then all the emails I sent were also downloaded to the phone, and I send out about 100 emails a day, so that doesn't work for me. I deleted that and set it up as IMAP, but now, like you, when I delete a message from my iPhone, it no longer appears in my gmail inbox on my computer, it's in All Mail.
I don't have time to check different places for my mail--I had a Blackberry before the iPhone and it seemed so simple, so I need to figure out how to streamline it on the iPhone too!

Upgrading original iPhone to iPhone 3GS - Some Questions:

I've been using the original iPhone for nearly two years now and I've finally bit the bullet and ordered a shiny new 3GS. I'm a bit apprehensive, though.. so thought I'd ask a few questions and see if anyone can help me out.
First, how easy is the transition? Will I need to remove the SIM card on my old phone? I'm concerned about syncing to iTunes properly and keeping all my apps, contacts, calendars, etc.. in tact. I can always re-sync the calendard and contacts, but I do NOT want to have to re-purchase any apps. I've invested enough already!
Secondly, my old iPhone: after the transition and my new phone takes over the number and service, can I just keep using the old model like an iPod Touch? I assume this would require reformatting it, etc. How easy is this to do?
And of course, any suggestions on cool apps or games that really show off how cool the new iPhones are would be nice. I'm excited to see how much nicer my games and apps will run, and I won't cry over losing Edge!

Use the SIM card that comes with the new phone. Sync your current iPhone, then when you connect the new one to iTunes, you will have the option to set it up using the backup of your existing phone. Choose that option, and all your content and settings will transfer over (except for the WiFi netowrk passwords, which is a security precaution when restoring to a different device).

Part two of iphone 4 email question

was going to add to my last question...my wife is able to get and send emails because she has a hotmail account and was not prompted to set up her incoming and outgoing email server...i am using my local provider and it is prompting me to enter that info...but to no avail

Mac book, iphone, and email question...

Hi all, I am about to buy my first mac book and hopefully in the near future (after current service contract up... although I'm not 100% sold on AT&T) buy an iphone. I am also beginning to search for a new email provider since embarq will no longer be using earthlink. Knowing I'm moving to mac book and will likely soon have an iphone, I'm seeking suggestions for a new email service that will work best with those. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

I may be wrong, since it's been so long since I did this, but I believe if you sign into iCloud on your iPhone with the same account you signed into on your iPad, it should set up an @me.com email.

IPhone 4s email question

As of about a year ago, there was no way to set an email "rule" to create an alert on the iPhone by sender, subject line, etc. Anyone know of any new developments, apps, etc. that would make this possible?

Iphone POP email question

I have 3 emails on my phone that use POP as the IMAP has never worked with my Domain dervice. One of my emails was giving me trouble in Outlook 2007 on my PC and I finally got it resolved. But immediately after fixing that, my phone decided not to receive emails sent to the same email address. My Domain company says its an apple issue.
Interestingly enough, when I get an email in Outlook on my PC, I immediately go to my phone to see if it downloads. I can see the blue bar at the bottom downloading the email but it then disappears with no emails in that particular addresses inbox. Anyone experienced this?

Is there a setting within outlook that can leave the message in lace so that it has time to show up on the phone? (Ie. Email Settings; Advanced ; "Leave a copyu of messages on the server"
