IPhone 3GS error code 26

Hi all, since I updated my iPhone 3GS 32g to iOS 5 it is dead, error code 26. I presented it at a local retailer where I bought it almost 2 years ago. After 2 weeks of waiting SBE company simply mailed me they won't repair it since it has a minor crack at the dock connector (iPhone still in guarantee). They suggest me to swap it for 339 euro for an 8 gig. Mine is 32 gig and was solid before the update! Is there anything I can do? Is error 26 unrepairable?
Thanks for your advise!

1. Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including a different USB port directly on the computer.
2. Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer, or eliminate the hub if using one.
3. Try a different USB 30-pin dock connector cable.
4. Eliminate third-party security software conflicts by disabling all anti-virus & firewalls.
5. There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your Registry. If your default packet size is set incorrectly it can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance.
6. Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
7. Try to restore from another known-good computer and network

  • Iphone 3GS Error code 14 after trying to update to ios4

So i tried to upgrade my iPhone 3GS, which I just got back from apple, to iOS4.
After downloading iOS 4 via iTunes it started installing and then crashed right when it began installing. Bam Error Code 14.

    Use an other USB Port
    Use an other cable
Create new user on Mac and reinstall iTunes
    Redownload ios 4 via iTunes
Redownload ios 4 via the Internet
    Try in DFU Mode
Even tried downgrading to Os 3.1.3./3.1.2
Of course also tried an other pc and an other mac.
    nothing works for me!
Kinda annoyed cauz I really need my Phone!!!
    Anyone got an idea?

  • Apple iphone restore 3GS error code (-1)

    Hi,
I have an Iphone 3gs on contract with network 3.  I passed my phone to a friend as he said he will update it and install some apps for me, now he has given it to me back and said it isn't working.
I dont know exactly what he has done but I have read up on google about entering DFU mode and doing a factory restore, but when it gets to the very end I get error code (-1) unknown error?
Can anyone help me out and put a guess/finger on what he has possibly done and what I could do to resolve the matter???
    Thanks

So are you telling me the phone is now useless?  and by modifying I presume you mean jailbreak?
i have only had the phone for 3 months on a 24month contract! I think serious words are in order
I respect the fact thats this is an official messageboard and that terms and conditions apply etc but any pointers would be appreciated? at least to get the phone back to factory settings maybe?  I have read somehwere about being able to restore the phone if its to the latest legit IOS version?
is this true? if so I know I can continue a search to sort it, but dont want to waste precious hours on a waste journey
Thanks for your reply btw Ingo2711

  • Transfer purchases from iPhone 3gs error

My wife and I both have an iPhone 3gs. We've created separate users on our iMac to manage iPhones/iTunes. We both have admin privileges. It's worked brilliantly until today. I recently synced/updated to OS 5.1.1 (last week)...no problems on my end. My wife tried today, but unfortunately gets an error message at the end of the transfer purchases/syncing process:  "Attempting to copy to disk "Macintosh HD" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
    Any ideas?

I too had this issue on my Vista 64 machine--I have since upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit. The solution I found was to open TCP Port 3689 on the computer as well as the Multicast DNS for Bonjour: UDP 5353. You might need to reboot and should be all set after that. My Apple TV worked for almost a year without these settings. I suddenly started having these issues around a month ago. All is now well.

    Any help will be appreciated

If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

  • IPhone 3GS error - very strange

Something really awkward happened with my iPhone 3GS today.
As I wanted to transfer a song to my iPhone, I connected it to the iTunes and have been through the classic procedure of synchronization. However, certain errors occured already during that time. The loading bar, situated on the top of the iTunes window, showed that the synchronization was complete to about 95% - and it stopped there. I shut iTunes completely 20 minutes later, but the mobile screen showed that the iPhone was still being synchronized. Then I ended the synchronization manually on the iPhone by swiping my finger on the cancel toolbar, and then I shut it down, just to be safe.
The problem is that the iPhone has been shutting itself down for three hours now. I see nothing but a blank screen with the round loading symbol. The iPhone hasn't freezed - it just won't turn off. I tried everything - I connected it to the iTunes, but iTunes says that it cannot connect with the iPhone due to an "unknown problem". I pressed all the buttons on the phone, but it just doesn't bring me anywhere. The phone keeps shutting itself down, but it doesn't switch off completely.
    What am I to do?

Hold HOME and SLEEP at the same time for 10-15 seconds, until an Apple logo appears. If the phone does not restart see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Before doing this, however, disable your firewall/antivirus and connect the phone only to a USB port directly on the computer, not to a hub.

  • HT1222 restoring iphone 3GS - error message 'unknown error -1' occurred.

when restoring my iphone 3gs itunes attempts to restore then come back with error message 'unknown error -1' occurred. what to do now?

    Hey Lawrence,
A big THANK YOU!! to you! Your suggestions worked!
Before I changed USB ports (more on that in a sec...), I employed one of your suggestions that you gave to someone else with the same problem...and that was to clean the connector on the bottom of the phone with a soft dry tooth brush. I couldn't believe the amount of lint that came out! Especially what was found in either end...had to do some very careful picking. (Almost enough lint to knit a small sweater!!)
Changing the USB port was the second and final step required for a successful backup. My computer is a laptop, and I did have a USB Bluetooth adapter (for another device) installed. I removed  the adapter, plugged the iPhone into that USB port, crossed my fingers...and it worked!!!
Now if I can figure out the rest of this darn program, I might upgrade to a new iPhone!
Again, thank you very much Lawrence!

  • Iphone 3GS error when trying to restore and update

I took my old Iphone 3GS and tried to run an update on a new Itunes acct so I could use like a ipod since my other acct is tied to my current phone. Itunes did a restore and then errored when it tried to update with the latest software. Now it is only showing the image of a USB cord to be plugged into Itunes and my Itunes is not seeing the phone anymore.
Please help if there is a way...I did the troubleshoot on the device before and updated drivers. They were current before the restore and my computer still sees the iphone under upspecified - Apple Mobile USB Device Driver.
Thank you very much for any advice you can offer.

Thank you for the quick response and I went throught the step shown but iTunes is still not seeing my device in itunes menu when i do this action. The phone is also still showing the connect to itunes screen and no pop-up to restore has happened. I tried the steps 3 times.
Also, I tried to troubleshoot the device and see if that would correct the computer seeing as it did before but it says there is no problem with the device.
    any other thoughts?

  • IPhone 3Gs - Error 1603

I tried to update my iPhone 3Gs to iOS4. I downloaded the update from iTunes rather quickly, and it was preparing my iPhone for the update, when I got an error message 1603. I got the more details log for the message if anyone is interested in seeing it.
Now my iPhone is stuck on the opening black screen with the white apple. Has anyone experienced this error and if so what did they do?
    Thanks,

I went through a backup of the 3gs, although I didn't wish to sync everything. I just synced my apps. let it wipe my Video/Podcasts, but I synced my Photos. Then I started the Update. iTunes downloaded ios4. After the download the upgrade started. It ran for about 10 minutes, and threw the 1603 error. The phone was displaying the Apple logo, and a spinning wheel. I did a hard restart of the phone at this point (home and sleep). Then I restarted the phone. The phone display then showed the connect to iTunes screen. I went through a reboot of the computer, the new user idea, the re-install of iTunes, the removal of the sim, and finally trying it on another (actually 2) computers. No luck. The phone would show up in iTunes when plugged in, then iTunes would display the "this phone is in a recovery mode, you must restore it..., I'd hit the restore button and after ten minutes it would go to the same Apple logo and spinning wheel, then throw the 1603 error.
I downloaded 3.13, and held the alt key then pressed RESTORE in iTunes, selected the 3.13 firmware and after a couple minutes, I got the "software not approved on this phone" message from Apple.
Then, after some research, I found that the "recovery mode" message may mean that I was in a recovery mode loop. I tried some troubleshooting, and nothing seemed to work. Mostly holding and releasing buttons on the phone while plugging the phone into the usb port.
Then I found a shareware program to get the phone in and out of recovery mode. I downloaded it, and executed it, and the phone went back to 3.13, out of the recovery mode. I think I'm going to wait for my iPhone4, and leave the 3gs where it is. I'm just glad to get it back.

  • TS3694 failure in restoring firmware of my iphone and error code is 1015

I have a failure in restoring the firmware of my iphone and it gives me an error code of 1015 even though I am connected to the internet.

This may not help your situation byt it explains the error code
Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.
