Iphone 3Gs headphones

I just got the new 32G Iphone 3GS and it's great. However when using the headphones to call on the phone I hear great but the person on the other end complains of a really bad echo. Am I doing something wrong? Can the echo be avoided?

You can try a reset.
Make sure that your headphones are securely plugged into the iphone.
Page 46 of the manual:
"If something isn’t working right, restarting, force quitting an application, or resetting
iPhone will likely solve the problem.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and
hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
If you can’t turn off iPhone or if the problem continues, you may need to reset. A reset
should be done only if turning iPhone off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.
Force quit an application: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone
for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then press and hold the Home button
until the application quits.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the
same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
For more troubleshooting suggestions, see Appendix A, “Troubleshooting,” on
page 190. "

  • Headphones no longer detected by iPhone 3GS

    Hello,
I got an iPhone 3GS about two weeks ago, and it's had no issues until today.  I was listening to a podcast before lunch.  I paused it, removed heaphones, and went to lunch (during which the phone stayed safely in the belt-clip case).  Came back from lunch, and now the audio plays from the phone speaker even if the headphones are plugged in.  I've tried the following:
    reboot iphone
blow out headphone jack with compressed air
test with multiple pairs of headphones
plug/unplug headphones multiple times (saw this as a proposed "fix" in another thread)
verify that it's not just podcasts or music, all sound will only play from phone speaker
when headphones are plugged in, used volume buttons to verify that a speaker icon appears, indicating that no headphones are detected
Do I really have a hardware failure on my hands this soon?  The nearest Apple store is over three hours away, so that's not an option.
    Thanks in advance

what did the Apple guys say? This just started happening to me on Friday. Help!

  • Playtronics Backbeat 903 Headphones Did Control Iphone 3GS, But Quit. Why?

I bought a pair of Playtronics Backbeat 903 Bluetooth headphones that support the A2DP and AVRCP profiles. that the Iphone 3gS that I own are also suppose to support and I believe they do. Now just recently the phone will not allow the headphones to control it (pause, skip to next song, etc). I have reset the headphones, I have unpaired and re-paired the headphones with the phone, I have removed any other bluetooth pairing profiles from the phone, still no luck. Anyone have any idea how I get the phone or headphones to recognize the AVRCP profile so I can use the headphones as designed.
As I said, when I first got the headphones all of these controls worked, now they do not. Thanks in advance.

Yes, your iPhone has the classic signs of early onset Alzheimer's...
Assuming that nothing is pressing on the Home button when this occurs, try the basic steps as needed:
    1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
    3. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup.
If #3 doesn't help, there is a hardware problem such as a defective home button, and you should make an appt. with an Apple Store Genius bar.

  • Loose headphone socket on iPhone 3GS

I have had my iPhone 3GS for 24 months now and the headphone socket has become loose from wear, meaning that the headphones when in the socket are sometimes undetected and music is played out loud through the speakers. This can become quite embaressing on the underground!
Is there any way of fixing is?
And is this a problem which many people have had that the new iPhone 4S has decided to overcome?
    Kind regards,
    Sharley530

If you don't want your iPhone exchanged again, then you have to live with it. You might as well open the iPhone yourself in that case since you won't be interested in an exchange under warranty - unless a far worse problem develops.
Per the writen warranty, an exchange under warranty will be a new or refurbished iPhone with no way to tell the difference. A refurbished iPhone is probably more closely inspected and tested than new iPhones when manufactured.
An exchange under warranty is provided in a white box regardless if the exchange is new or refurbished. It is called a service unit. Apple does not take an iPhone that was exchanged and just stick it in a white box. An iPhone returned for exchange is refurbished.

  • Is there an app to control the volume of an iPhone 3GS?

I have an iPhone 3GS and the volume keeps going all the way down once I plug the headphones in. Before this started happening the volume would go all the way up. Before that even started happening the phone would repeatedly try to shut itself off and I had to keep pressing Cancel.
I did buy the phone off of eBay used, to try and go on a prepaid contract once my current contract ends. On the case itself, there are some minor scuffs and such, it does look like it was opened at a time. It still works perfectly, except for the volume glitch right now. Is there an app that controls the volume to keep it from going all the way down?. People say in forums and such to tighten the screws on the bottom (which I tried), and to also open the phone and see if there is anything blocking the volume control thing (like dust or anything) but I'm afraid to try that with the risk of causing further damage. What should I try?.

to at least try and fix it if none of that works then replace it through apple

  • Stream Audio From iPhone 3GS To MacBook Pro

Is it possible to stream audio from an iPhone 3GS (playing in the iPod app) to a MacBook Pro over Bluetooth, so that the music plays through the MacBook's internal speakers?
Obviously you could just connect the headphone socket of the iPhone 3GS to the line in socket of the MacBook Pro, but doing it over Bluetooth would be much tidier.

There is a way with WiFi, but you need to "Modify" your iPhone to do it.

  • IPhone 3gS problem

    Hey guys,
I've got a problem with an iPhone 3gS, the volume bar in the 'iPod app' doesn't respond properly, The bar moves but the volume doesn't change. Tried resetting and that didn't work. The only thing that worked for a short time was turning it off or syncing it. I then sent it in for repair and got a replacement but a couple of days later the problems came back and it's now alot worse.
Does anyone have a clue on how to solve this?
    Cheers,

How are you listening? Via headphones, then internal speaker, or a dock? If it's a dock, in some cases output is controlled only by the dock system, not the iPhone itself.

  • I'm having sound issues with my iphone 3gs

Ok, so the speaker sound on my iphone 3gs has stopped working.  The only sound I do get is my ringtone and if I play a voicemail.  I also do get sound when I plug headphones in.  However, whenever I get a text message or an email, my phone vibrates even though my ringer is on.  I don't hear the click sound when I unlock my screen or type anything.  If I push the volume side buttons, the small, black volume/ringer box does not appear and if I play music the volume adjustment setting is missing.  I've reset my phone, I've backed it up, I've messed around with the sound settings, my software is up-to-date, I've tried cleaning my headphone jack with a q-tip and nothing has worked.  I have no idea why the sound stopped working since the speaker sound worked earlier today, I haven't dropped it, and I've only had this phone for about a year.  Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sad to report that I have the same issues between three to four times a day.  Before I got my iPhone 4S (first iPhone I've owned, btw) I used to have a Sony Ericsson C902 that I operated along with a bluetooth headset HBH-DS205 that used to work perfectly together.  Now, with the headset and the iPhone 4S I keep noticing that the connection breaks and all I can do to restore it is to turn the headset off and on every time.  I listen to music all day long on the headset and this issue can get to irritating levels.  Also sometimes I feel stupid as at work I'm one of the few 4S owners and, the iPhone being a state of the art device, my coworkers get to see me scrambling to figure out whether I need to bring the phone up to my ear or just one of the earpieces to my ear.  The headset also has a answer/hang-up button that as of late, for the same reason, I cannot know for sure will start or end a call.  I would hate to be forced to drop the headset as I really love it too.

  • Bluetooth Headset Pairing (iPhone 3GS)

I purchased the *+Rocketfish RF-BTHP01+* (Bluetooth Headset - earbuds, behind the neck form factor) it's very cool, great for working out and listening to music.. Which originally worked fine, paired with the phone and was wonderful for about 6 months until today when i upgraded to the latest iPhone 3GS OS (3.1.3). All of a sudden it cannot pair anymore. I have no idea what is going on. Looked on the net and found that people are having similar problems, someone said to try to flip airplane mode off and on and BT off and on. Tried that, also tried resetting.. Neither of those seem to work. Any other options ?

Have you put then headphones into "discovery mode"?

  • Is it a must to unlock the iphone 3gs?

i just bought an iphone 3Gs. it seems that some applications are not functioning. do i need to buy the unlock sofware and unlock the iphone?. what are the functions of unlucking the iphone.

In the US it is a breach of the contract and warranty as the option to unlock the iPhone is not offered.
In all cases where unlocking is offered, you have to go through your provided (in the UK example here, O2) to unlock it, it is not directly done by Apple and they will not "publish" any method to do so.
You are correct, if someone has a legally unlocked iPhone they can get an AT&T SIM and use it here then move on to another location/country and change to that SIM. So if someone here was to go to Italy and purchase an unlocked iPhone they could bring it back here and use it on T-Mobile, with some technical limitations. Besides that downside the other downside is if you see a small crack developing around the headphone jack, or any other manufacturing defect, you are going to have to book a flight and hotel stay in Italy to get it serviced.

  • Iphone 3GS update went wrong - plugging in via USB causes instant PC crash

I have (had) an iPhone 3GS, working well. I decided it was time to do a sync, and an update was suggested. A back up seems to have been created from the sync (visible in itunes), however there were messages afterwards that my PC had recovered from a serious error. The update became a restore and update, and I was given the choice to restore to my backup. This process appeared to go well enough, though at the end my PC kept crashing and trying to reboot but as long as my iPhone was connected via USB the PC could not reboot.
Furthermore, a whole stack of info from my iPhone (all texts, all notes, around 600 out of 800 photos, settings, apps etc) has disappeared.
Now every time I try to connect my iPhone to my PC it instantly crashes. Other things (eg headphones) still work in the same USB ports (I've tried multiple, front & back).
I can see an itunes backup was created, but cannot connect to itunes on my PC to ascertain if there is any more data from the back up (namely my notes & photos). Any suggestions from similar experiences would be most welcome!

    Success.
After a bit of a dig around google searches, it seems there's some sort of glitch between Apple and Logitech webcam device drivers.
I removed the Logitech drivers, and voila! iPhone no longer causes instant meltdown of pc.
My question now then, how do I work out if my incomplete restore can be turned into a complete restore? I was game enough to hit the restore button in itunes and it only gave me the option of returning to original settings, thus erasing what is currently on there. I cancelled that move!
I would like what I have (all contacts, at least!) plus the disappeared old stuff (pics, notes, texts would be nice)...
Am i right in understanding that iTunes will only keep one backup and any subsequent ones will replace the previous one? I'm nervous that if I backup what i have there now, it will replace a good backup that I really might be able to restore in full.
    Any thoughts on this?

  • Why wont my computer recognize my iphone 3gs as usb 2.0?

My computer, windows xp with service pack 3, wont accept or see my 3gs iphone as USB 2.0 device. I have gone all the routes spouted by every other site saying their idea will fix it, but it doesn't. Its not because another 1.1 usb device is plugged into the bus, its not the firmware, usb driver needing an update and/or updating the BIOS. I have reverted to the old and standard version of the USB driver. I have restarted the computer after trying every option above. All other 2.0 devices are recognized and work as usb 2.0 except the iphone. I've tried usb legacy support in bios as enabled, auto, and off. My laptop however does see the iphone as usb 2.0. I have even cleaned out the cable connector on the iphone and headphone jack. Every other support site including http://www.usbman.com
and microsoft have offered up the same inoperative solutions above. I even recently reformatted this computer. Please help with something new.
