IPhone 3GS Home Deilvery

I am about to purchase my new iphone 3gs as an early upgrade from apple and have it delivered to my home on the 19th to avoid the savages waiting on line at the store? My question is i currently am an att&t customer with a iphone 3g. Can i activate my 3gs on-line and keep my current att telephone number or will they issue me a new number even if i am only upgrading my phone??

You should be able to keep the same one. When you connect to iTunes, if it is anything like the 1st gen setup, it will ask you a series of questions (one being if it is a replacement) under that option you have the ability to use your exsisting line or change your number.

  • [iPhone 3GS] Home button doesn't work on new phone

After half a day new iPhone 3GS stopped working properly.
Home button doesn't respond. It works only when I plug iPhone to the computer.
Voice cotrol runs by himself unexpectadly.
iPhone 3GS with preinstalled iOSx 5.0.1. Should I update to the new 5.1 or downgrade to the 4.0 version?

If it were me, I would return it for a replacement.  Also, you can only upgrade the iOS, not downgrade.

  • IPhone 3GS Home Button Issue - iPhone Thinks Home Button Is Always Pushed

Alright, this isn't the normal(home button doesn't work) question. Listen...
Customer brought this iPhone 3GS in to replace the non-working home button. Before I did I tested it with a working screen assembly(obviously including a new home button) and it DIDN'T work. So I replaced the dock connector and speaker/mic assembly(where the home button makes it's connection. And that still doesn't work.
I have figured out now that the problem is NOT that the iPhone doesn't recognize the push of the home button but instead it thinks that the home button is always being pushed. When hold the power button(only) the iPhone will restart(which requires home+power).
Since I've tried replacing the home button and the dock connector is this problem with the logic board?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    HI iFixItMan,
I have the same problem andmine was stuck in a recovery loop and it took me about 7 hours to get workingsoftware, now I have the phone fully working the home button has no functionwhen in phone mode, I have soft reset when in phone mode and the home buttonworks (resets phone) - Power + Home button pressed together)).
The home button also works whenthe screen is lifted from the connector for DFU mode and soft reset; I’mthinking there are two connections made to the logic board one for system(software reset and DFU) and one for phone connection.
Not changed the dock or thescreen assembly due to thinking which part I need to buy :/, don't want to keep buying parts then having to keep them if they don't work
    Thanks again

  • IPhone 3GS Home button takes 5-10 seconds to respond

OK, so I have done some playing around and it only happens if I let the phone sit for a few mins. Then I'll hit the home button and have to wiat about 5-10 secs before I can slide to unlock. The screen just stays blank.
After that if I lock it and hit the home button again it will popup right back up like it should normally. Let it sit a few minutes and you have to wait for 5-10 secs again.
If the phone is plugged into my computer, no wait. Works fine. I hope this is a software issue because I got the phone through my company and its on a corporate contract which I think means I cant take it to apple store or at&t store for help. Has anyone else seen this? I searched google and some people have said this happened to them but nothing recent and nothing with the 3gs. Can anyone help or shed some light for me please? Thanks ahead of time for any help!!!

My girlfriend has the same problem as you - her iPhone is less than a week old, and already the home button is becoming unresponsive. I encourage you as I encourage her to use the button on the top of the phone more until a more permanent solution can be found, unless of course that guy is bugging out too...
We're going to go through the usual reset / restore motions the next chance we have, and maybe even take it to a genius bar this weekend if we have the time. I will let you know if I have any success.

  • IPhone 3GS home button doesn't work.

I have to turn phone completely off then back on to get back to main menu screen and use different functions/apps.   It doesn't appear to be "stuck"; it just doesn't register anything when pressed.  Any ideas?

If it were me, I would return it for a replacement.  Also, you can only upgrade the iOS, not downgrade.

  • My home button on my iPhone 3gs is very hard what should i do???

I am having a problem with my iPhone 3gs home button it is very hard and misses a lot what should i do??? Pls advice.

If it is still in warrenty i would just take it to the apple store and let them look at it. However if not i could recommend going on amazon and getting an iPhone repair kit and opening the iPhone up to reposition the home button in the phone which may fix your problem.

  • Just got an iPhone 3GS, How do I connect to home WiFi network?

I posted this in the network discussion as well, but wasn't getting answers and I need to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
I just got my brand new iPhone 3GS. I just recently finished fully charging it and activating it. I am exploring my new device but I am getting extremely frustrated as to connecting to WiFi. I want to use WiFi for web browsing, but when I go to WiFi on my iPhone it says No Networks (or something of the sort). I try to enter in the name of my network (which I know). But I don't know what kind of security OR the password to the network.
I really want to enjoy this phone/gadget but I don't know how to set it up to connect to my network.
Can somebody help me in telling me where I can find the security type and password to my network.
    Thanks!

Sounds like you (or a buddy who helped you) setup your home network to Cloak its SSID (name). Thus as you said, you need to manually enter it.
But from there, you will also need to know any Key (password) you set on it to join.
If you don't know those items, not much we can do to help (now I could always drive on by fire up airrack-ng suite and break in for ya)
You can always go to your computer, try to access your router (odds are http://192.168.1.1 ) via your browser.
Then see what settings you can get to.
If it was locked down, then I suggest going to your routers website and read up how to reset the router (odds are button on back you have to hold in for 10 secs) which will reset the router back to default settings.
All devices will then have to re-join your default network (real manual that came with router or get one online before resetting).

    Hi,
Apple shop exchanged my iphone 3gs today. got home but it doesnt pick up the wifi. first the correct supplier appears then it says not connected.
both my mac and ipad is working on wifi (so did the previous phone) i ve tried rebooting, tried reset supplier...nothing works. can someone help please?
    thanks

Yes, they should be able to verify that WiFi is working properly. If I just got a new phone & it didn't work perfectly, right out of the box, before I started restoring or whatever, I'd be right back where I got the phone.

  • Bug? IPhone 3GS and iPad 1 running 4.3 only see one Home Sharing device

I have Home Sharing setup on a Mac mini, a MacBook Pro, an Apple TV, an iPad 1 and an iPhone 3GS. All versions are current (iTunes 10.2.1, iOS 4.3). All devices can see each other, except in the iPod application. The iPod application on either the iPhone or the iPad will only show the Mac mini or the MacBook Pro, and is not consistent as to which is visible. Launching the Remote app on either device detects the Mac mini, the MacBook Pro and the Apple TV, so the computers are definitely advertising their libraries. Has anyone else seen this? It seems like a bug to me.

In case someone finds this in a search down the road, here's the problem:
When I setup my Mac mini I copied the library from my MacBook Pro as a starting point. Because of this, I also copied the unique ID of the library. My iOS devices were differentiating devices based upon ID, rather than name, so they looked like the same device. I deleted the library off my Mac mini, reimported the songs, and I'm good now.

  • TS3999 Sync Problem: Home iCal Calendar from iMac - iPhone 3GS via iCloud

I'm unable to sync Home iCal Calendar from iMac (Snow Lion) to iPhone 3GS via iCloud - events appear correctly on iCloud.com but not pushed to iPhone. However Home events created on the phone sync fine in other direction (appearing correctly on iCloud & iCal) - but they can only be amended on the phone.
My other Work iCal Calendar works perfectly in both directions.
Have tried various suggestions to fix but to no avail. Any help appreciated - thanks.

Really appreciating your help/time; it's so frustrating to try & sort this on your own!
So when I switch off iCloud on the phone, it asks me if I wish to retain the events from the iCloud - and I select it to delete them.
Then I go back into Calendar app, and I press on Calendar button(top left) I can see the On My iPhone" Calendar. If I select this to display I can see the events previously described. I then shut the phone off.
Having restarted the phone, I go back into iCloud settings to switch Calendars on and to at last answer your question (!!) there is no question to ask me to merge data (this good as it would duplicate entries)
Going back into Calendar app, it claims to be displaying both Home & Work calendars, but it only shows events in the Work calendar.
I've tried this a number of times and it is totally consistent in its failure to take Home events from the iCloud; I can't see anything different in the setup of the 2 calendars - do you think its a bug?
    Thanks again

  • I have an iphone 3gs, when I try to connect to my home wi-fi the phone goes thru the motions, finds the network but can't lock it in.  The check mark next to the network flashes a few times then the phone goes serching again and the same thing happens.

I have an Iphone 3gs wi-fi problem.  When I try to access my home wi-fi network the phone looks for the network, finds it, but cannot lock it in.  The check mark flashes a few times then the phone tries again to connect.  This only happens with my home wi-fi.  Any suggestions on how to fix this problem.  I have re-booted the phone and the router without any luck.

    SOLUTION!
I've been suffering from this problem for a few months.  I tried everything suggested by everyone, and then, today, I had a mad idea.
I used to work in a room in the house that's about 12 metres away from the router. It's on the next storey up and horizontally about 8 metres away.  The problem started when I began to work in the same room as the router.
Today I became so frustrated that for some reason I walked into a room about 8 metres away on the same level - Guess what?  I connected with no problem at all. Feeling full of joy I walked back to the room where the router is located - Dropped internet connection within a few minutes!  Walked back to the the room that's 8 metres away and, hey presto! I have a connection. I now realise that the problem was that I moved too close to the router.
I can think of no logical explanation for my experience, but empirically it seems to work.  Does anyone have the faintest idea of why this should be the case?  In the absence of an answer I think I may have to start believing in fairies at the bottom of the garden - I'm just off to set a meal for them.
By the way, I don't know if it has any significance, but the router is a BT Infinity router that has replaced the incredibly unreliable Virgin Media cable connection
