Iphone 3GS in recovery mode after attempting lastest update last night ... Anyone have any ideas?
Updated my Iphone to the lastest update offered by itunes last night ... Iphone is now in recovery mode and isn't being recognized by the computer or Itunes!
I've restarted several times and I've reinstalled itunes.
Anyone have any ideas? Or does anyone know if there is an apple store in Ireland that could help me?
Having the same problem. I updated and my phone suddenly showed minimal battery power and turned off. Now I it is stuck in a power cycle and won't boot up, gets to the apple screen and cycles power. I ahve been trying torecover all day, but after it downloads I get a network error message. Anyone have an answer or did Apple just hose us all.

My iPhone is in recovery mode after attempting to update the software
How do i get my iphone to stop recovery mode, it is connected to itunes and everything. When i take my phone off itunes it restarts and tells me to connect to itunes, then tells me the phone is in 'recovery mode'. Please help me someone.
same exact problem here, phone won't go out of recovery mode. went to apple store, said to restore it but will lose all of my data. don't have it backed up. read that the restore resets the phone and deletes data however it does not actually 'erase' the data. if i can get the phone restored, how do i get the data too?

dfu mode
How to enter iPhone DFU mode
Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
Turn the iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone)
Hold down the sleep/power button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button
Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected
When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black
Even though the screen is black, that doesn’t mean the device can’t be interfaced with either iTunes or a custom firmware client (for jailbreaking, etc).
Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode. Again, DFU mode is signified by having a completely black screen on the device. If anything else is the case, repeat the steps above until you enter into DFU mode successfully.
Exit DFU mode on iPhone
The simplest way to exit out of DFU mode is to hold down the Home and sleep/power buttons on the iPhone while connected to iTunes. Then just hit the power button as and this should reboot the device as usual.
And if you’re curious, yes this works all the same on an iPod touch. -
IPhone stuck in recovery mode after attempted update. Will not restore
I attempted to update my iPhone software to the latest, and then proceded to fail. Now it will not restore, will not power on, and will not hard reset via the sleep/awake button and other. I've had this phone less than a week and I'm already having issues.
If you are using a Windows based computer to restore the iPhone, it could be the security software or firewall preventing the restore process.

IPhone stuck in recovery mode after attempted to downgrade from iOS5 Beta
Hi,
There was a bug being reported in one of my apps, but I couldn't replicate it. I tried to downgrade back to 4.3.5 to see if iOS 5 was the reason that I couldn't replicate it, but now my phone is stuck in Recovery Mode.
I have restored Xcode 4.1, iTunes 10.4.1 to remove iOS5 from my mac. Now I'm stuck in the cycle: connect me to iTunes screen -> Preparing to restore -> Unknown error code 1604.
Will I get help at an Apple store? Or do I now just have an expensive door stop? Please use the confidential forums created for this purpose:

Message was edited by: PsychedelicWondersDon't know if this will help but when I updated to 4.0.2 my phone gave me an error and bricked.
I made a new user on my computer, installed itunes and then was able to update my phone without it erroring. Once I had a working phone I went back to the old user and updated my phone with all of the information that was there before. I lost a few things but had a working phone.
Since then I have not had a problem with updating it in the old user. You might see if it will help with you all.

My computer is registering the ipod however itunes is not. Nothing ive tried has made it come up in itunes to let me restore. I've done the basics (i.e multiple computer restarts, switching USB ports, fresh install of itunes. I've checked the forums and everything I've found has involved things that I have been unable to do involving the itunes restore. Please save my ipod from a hammer.
You can try 2 things:
Restart your iPod by - Holding the Power and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Put your iPod in DFU and restore - Hold the Power and Home until the screen goes black, wait about 2 seconds, release the power button but keep holding the home for 15 seconds, then on iTunes, Restore and Update. -

IPhone 3GS Audio Volume Decrease After iOS 5 Update
The Audio/Volume on my iPhone 3GS has Decrease SIGNIFICANTLY After iOS 5 Update. Oddly, the volume of the ring is fine, and as lout as it used to be, and as loud as all other audio should be, but when using any 3rd party applications, the volume output is significantly less (about 40% less) than it used to be.
I am NOT the only person to experience this problem. Apparently, the issue has been around since this past summer, when iOS was still being developed / tested. There is a post about someone experiencing the same issue, here:
http://modmyi.com/forums/general-iphone-chat/768919-ios-5-low-volume.html
And before you ask .. I did a language change and reset, and I am still experiencing the SAME issue.
Any help or advice with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
In advance, thank you.I have a similar or related problem with iOS5/3GS and volume:

In my case I can hear nothing from the internal speakers although I can use headphones. The volume slider bar is unavailable unless I plug in headphones. -
