IPhone 3Gs is disabled and asks for Passcode

Hi there,
my iPhone 3GS is disabled after keying in a wrong Code for several times. It was disabled firstly for 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15, one hour and so on.
I have solved the problem with the SIM card by keying in the PUK and everything should be fine but the iPhone is still asking for the Passcode.
Could anybody help me here what kind of pascode it is asking for?
I honestly have no clue.
Thanks a Million in advance and best regards
Zuse

  • Iphone is disabled and asking for passcode.

My sister-in-law received a new iPhone 3GS from a co-worker who already had one. She gave it to me. It has never been activated or anything. The message on the screen says, "iPhone is disabled. Try again in 22,168,144 minutes".... WHAT? It will only make emergency calls. I only wanted it for my kid to use it as an iPod, and to transfer Aps from my iTunes that I use for my own iPhone 4G. Is there any way to gain access, without having AT&T set it up as a phone?

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

Take it to an Apple store and they will diagnose the hardware, and replace it if it is failing (which is likely).
You can try restoring it using iTunes, set it up as New. If the problem exists before your restore your backup then it is almost certainly hardware.

  • My iPhone 3gs is lagging and searching for signal all the time. Help!!

Well, my phones like 3 years old...and latley it's been lagging, turning it's self off, not sending my messages, when I call other people it doesn't go through, and if it does they can barly hear me. I thought it was my sim card so I got a new one and it's not. Then My phone is almost always looking for signal evem in places I always have it. Which needless to say is draining my battery pretty bad. If anyone has any information on what I can do please help. I'm getting a new Iphone when the new one comes out, but i just want help on how to make this one useful for now.

Try restore your phone back to factory setting through itunes. if that doesnt work or even before that call your service provider since they provide the network they will have some steps to try. if those fall then its hardware most likely

  • IPad lock up. Asks for passcode.

Had the same problem when updating to 7. Finally got lucky.  When it asked for your passcode it is your Apple ID password by default for some reason.  No Problems now!

    Mike,
did have passcode prior to update, but disabled it.  after update only numeric keyboard appears and asks for passcode,
When i entered old passcode, tells me phone is disabled for 1 hr, try again!!
