Iphone 3gs is stuck on a white screen.how do i fix this?

all of the reset instructions have been tried and failed. i cannot get the phone to power off and re-start. i'm afraid to put it in sleep mode like i do every night. i might be able to get it to wake up. this happened before i updated,so i thought maybe the update would fix the problem. it didn't. i have searched the web and i have tried all of the things people have posted and nothing has worked. not even apple's re-set instructions will work. this phone will not power off. help!

anyone else have a suggestion? i can't put my phone in sleep mode (i might not get it back) and i can't turn it off (it just won't turn off). i do have to constantly charge the battery because i can't put the phone in standby mode,so the screen is always constantly on. this is so frustrating.

try to reboot your ipod, to do this hold the power button for 5 seconds, continue to hold the power button and press the home button for 10 seconds (at about 8 seconds the ipod will turn off ignore that) after that realease the buttons and your ipod should return to normal. Yesterday I was using my iPhone with google maps to find some places I needed to visit. First thing I noticed was that my battery had gone from 100% to 26% in a very short period of time. Let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the reset (both buttons) and restore as necessary.

If a hard reset of the device or a restore of it via iTunes does not resolve the issue, it's likely hardware related. Could be a damaged LCD or a loose ribbon cable that connect to your iPod's logic board.
Either way, your iPod will need servicing in order to gain full functionality of it.

basically for a while my macbook pro has simply froxen andfaded into a blank white scren slowly as though its becoming less pixlated. applications and that all still work in the background so its likely to be just a cscreen error? isit a battery problem or can be replaced? a software problem? or isit ohysical damage and should i look to repair the devie?

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like iOS device's are not appearing in iTunes. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
