IPhone 3GS keeps rebooting iOS 5

I am at the stage that I am HATING having spent £300 on a phone that messes up every week!
My iPhone was running absolutely bang on on iOS 4.3.3 but like an idiot I decided to update it to 5.0 !
Now that it has been updated it has been running fine for like a week, however last night when I put it on charge it keeps restarting every 3 minutes for no absolute reason!
I switched my phone off and on again and still does the same thing!
I connected my iPhone to iTunes on DFU mode so that I could try to restore it, however no success!
So I went online and checked for new updates, found out that the iOS 5.0.1 was out which could be why Apple is playing with me?
I again connected my iPhone to iTunes and went for the update (my iPhone is still in DFU mode) it downloads most of the iOS 5.0.1 684.9 out of 685.0 MB and gives me an error saying network connection interrupted?! I tried it 4/5 times! Always does the same!
I do not know what to do anymore!
Please HELP!

Here is a solution I found searching the web. It worked for me so i hope it will help you guys out.
OK.........Finally I found the solution for sim problem with update 5.0.1 and the solution for fixing the iphone 3gs keeps rebooting or keeps restarting after 3-2 minutes?
for fixing the sim issues with update 5.0.1 or the rebooting problem do the following:
Take the     sim out
enable     the 3G and cellular  date in network     setting
than     insert the sim back
the     netwok will register your sim via 3G not GSM
than after     3 minutes turn off 3G and cellular  data
congratulation………your problem had been solved?...Im not an expert…but its seems this update 5.0.1…is not suitable for 3GS phones as they have ( special tapfro turning 3g on and off)this update is suitable  for iphone 4?which enable automatically 3G.
The apple should have warn all 3GS phone about that ………not waiting some one not expert like me to solve it out?
Anyway……………have a nice day every one

  • IPhone 3GS keeps rebooting, brand new, never jailbroken

I bought an iPhone 3GS in 2010. Worked perfectly until iOS 5.1, then it started rebooting whenever the SIM-card was in, but worked fine as a iPod Touch whenever the SIM was removed. Also, it needed to be restored after each reboot because iTunes couldn't identify it. I took it to the Apple store (on 5th Ave, if that's any relevant information). The Genius told me it had nothing to do with the software. The phone was broken. He did not specify what exactly was broken, but he offered me a replacement for about 160 USD (that's including tax). I accepted and was happy for my new phone until the same problem occured after just four days of getting the new phone. I'd take it to the store again, but the problem is - I don't actually live in New York. Currently living in Denmark. Brought it to my service provider, and they told me the phone was broken. Called Apple but they couldn't help me, since it was out of warranty.
    TLDR
Had an iPhone 3GS, kept rebooting and had to be restored when SIM-card active. Got it replaced to the exact same model (iPhone 3GS 32 GB), same exact problem. Neither Apple or service provider will help me.
Neither phones had ever been jailbroken or used by anyone else.

Your only option is to bring the phone back to the US for exchange.  Warranty is NOT worldwide.
There really is nothing else we users can do for you.

  • Iphone 3gs keeps rebooting durning calls after 8mins

ipone 3gs keeps rebooting durning calls after 8mins

My Wife had a similar issue with my hand-me-down 3GS! it turned out she had dropped it a few times and the SIM reader contacts were slightly damaged, so the network was dropping out regularly, causing the phone to search too often and overheat.
Apple may be kind enough to replace it, give them a call.

  • IPhone 3GS keeps rebooting into iOS 6 screen

My iPhone 3GS (Which is updated to the latest version, and not jailbroken) keeps randomly crashing and then rebooting to a screen that says iOS 6 on the slide to unlock screen, and then when I slide to unlock it shows a connect to iTunes screen. iTunes says it's in recovery mode, but I've recovered it a million times and it still keeps happening. TinyUmbrella says it's not in recovery mode and I can use it to get into recovery mode and then out of it and it works like normal for like 20 minutes and then it crashes again. Does anyone have a fix or a similiar problem?

Here they are, sorry for bad quality, I can only take pictures with my webcam since my phone broke.
When I connect it to iTunes it tells me it's in recovery mode (Which I'm pretty sure it's not, since recovery mode has a black background and TinyUmbrella says it's not)

  • My iPhone 3GS keeps rebooting and won't stop.

I recently updated my iPhone 3GS 16GB to the latest iOS 6.0.0 version and I am experiencing some problems. I turned off the device before replacing sim-card. After the repacement of the sim card, I booted the iphone. It showed the apple logo, then to the "Slide to unlock" page. I tried to unlock the thing but the phone was frozen, then it rebooted completely by it self. Again it turned on, showed the apple logo, showed the slide to unlock page, then turned off, then started. This repeated and couldn't stop. I did try the DFU method, Restore iPhone (I didn't install much apps after updating). At some times it reboots right after the apple logo.

Try restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new device.

  • Iphone 3GS keeps rebooting

(Feel free to just read "the problem" and skip the rest.)
    Background:
My iPhone 3GS recently quit working. I had paid for Apple Care, but when I took it into the store, they claimed it had water damage and wouldn't fix it. B.S. They said water damage could happen from as little as taking the phone from a cold car into a warm building. Why bother with Apple Care if you live anywhere cold then? But that's neither here nor there - it's just a warning to those considering buying Apple Care.
Instead of paying $149 to get it fixed, I decided to take a stab at it myself, since the warrenty is already voided (from condensation?). The original problem was that the phone would only turn on when plugged into the wall, but then wouldn't move past the "connect to iTunes" stage and I couldn't connect to iTunes because it wouldn't power up when plugged into the computer. I ended up puting in a new battery and now it turns on just fine, but . . .
    The problem:
It reboots every few minutes like clockwork. It seems that others have had this problem and I've been reading the posts trying to figure out how to handle it.  The tactic that seems to work most often is using DFU mode, but it seems my iphone will only go regular restore mode (at least, I think this is the case because the screen doesn't stay black for very long - it goes to the apple screen relatively early in the process).  When I use restore mode, it goes smoothly at first, but unfortunately the length of time it will stay on is less than the length of time it takes to do the restore, so it keeps turning off mid-restore and then I get an error message.
    Other possibilities:
Maybe this is related to the fact that it doesn't have service now? But the problem happens even if I put it in airplane mode and even if it's connected to wifi. It seems to keep trying to find service and after a few minutes, it reboots. I could possibly borrow a sim card from someone else with an iPhone 3 to see if it works when it has service.
Others have suggested that maybe this problem means an internal part wasn't put back right. Any thoughts on what? I'm afraid to open it up and poke around cause new problems.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

Hate to say, but if your phone has been rebooted, restored or recovered.  It sounds like a hardware issue.  Send it to the refuribish line with the rest of them.   Now i know you said you restored it.  but there are a couple other ways of doing it that might help.
    1. Reboot methods. The first thing to do is try to reboot the iPhone, which you can do by holding the top button and the home button for about ten seconds. In some cases, the iPhone is actually still on, but a bug stops the screen from displaying anything, so you can reverse the problem by doing the reboot. If you still see nothing on the screen, try to plug the iPhone in and again try the reboot methods to see if you can get the screen to display.
    2. Restoring the iPhone. If the iPhone shows up in iTunes, but it still doesn't seem to turn on, it's definitely a display problem. When rebooting fails, you can restore the iPhone from iTunes, and this should fix whatever bugs caused the original issue. Realize that you'll have to reload your music if you restore to another software version. To restore, plug the iPhone in, go into iTunes and click the iPhone's icon on the side of the select screen. Click on the restore button and agree to the prompt asking if you really want to restore the iPhone's software.
    3. Recovery mode. You can put the iPhone into recovery mode if it has a charged battery by holding down the home button before connecting it to iTunes, then continuing to hold the button until iTunes recognizes that the iPhone's in recovery mode. Recovery mode is a bare-bones way of booting the iPhone that allows you to perform a restore when you're dealing with a serious issue such as the iPhone failing to turn on or display anything on its screen.
try one of these if you havent already.  if still nothing, its time to take it in or get a new phone.

  • Iphone 3gs keeps rebooting often when charging on Kensington Dock n Belkin

I recently bought a Kensington Dock and a Belkin FM transmitter *** car charger for my Iphone 3gs (OS 4). When charging on the dock the phone keeps rebooting often. It doesnt happen if I'm just charging the phone using the regular charger OR when USB connected to the computer. Can someone advise why this happens when charging the Iphone using a Kensington dock OR belkin FM transmiter *** car charger. Both accessories are suppposed to be compatible with Iphone 3gs.

    Hello there, Fernandox26.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting isues with unexpected power issues with your iOS device:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • IPhone 5 keeps rebooting since iOS 7.1 upgrade

Since upgrading to iOS7.1 about 36-hours ago, my iPhone 5 keeps rebooting itself. I've also noticed that the screen wakes itself up (as if pressing the Home button) as often as every 10-mins.
Anyone else seeing the same/similiair thing?
Any news from Apple about a fix?

Here are the basic troubleshooting steps:
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
    Restore from backup
    Restore as new

  • My iphone 3gs keeps going black and to a "thinking" icon

my iphone 3gs keeps going black and to a "thinking" icon and will do this for a long time and won't stop till I do a forced shut down.  It's all sporatic as to when it does this.  Plus it's adding pictures to contacts that don't normally have pictures and taking them away from ones who do have them.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I have iOS 5.1.1 on it still b/c my iTunes won't download the newest verision of the iOS (yes I have the most recent iTunes on my laptop, yes I've tried multiple different times to download too) but I've heard others say not to put the newest iOS on the 3gs b/c it locks them up.

Try doing a reset on your iPhone,
Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
Good luck and do report back.
