Iphone 3gs keeps showing apple screen and then shuts off. won't start. HELP.
I left my iphone 3gs in my car to charge, i came back a hour later and the screen said "connect to itunes" and had 100% battery. I unplugged it from the charger and it immeditaly shut off. I plugged it into itunes and it does not even acknowlege it. all it is doing while plugged in is showing the apple screen as if its going to start up but shortly turns back to black screen. i just got my iphone 3g replaced with this one from apple store 3 weeks ago. I need help ASAP.
The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart.. Reset.. Restore from Backup.. Restore as New...
Try a Reset of the Phone... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds...
Release the Buttons...
Turn the Phone On...

it was saying error code 1, i tried the things it said but none of it worked. now it is not showing an error code at all, it just keeps saying it needs to be restored.

Macbook Pro won't boot past grey screen with Apple logo and then shuts off
This is a long story...
This morning, I would turn it on and it'd go to the grey screen with the Apple logo for a few seconds and then go to the icon that is a circle with a line through it. After reading online, I was able to boot it up in Safe Mode. I messed around a little bit in system preferences thinking I could fix it on my own, not really knowing what I was doing (I'm a *******). I went to Startup Disk in Preferences. I chose the MAC OS X, xxxx and then clicked the lock to prevent further changes and then clicked restart.
Now when I turn on the macbook, it goes to the grey screen with the Apple logo for at least two-three minutes and then just shuts off. Won't boot into Safe Mode now. Please help. I already tried the Command-Option-P-R keys trick like five times.If you have a full retail DVD for 10.6 you can boot from that by holding the C key during startup...but you will then be in install mode if that is what you want to do. At least go ahead and see if it will boot ok from the 10.6 disk and then you can decide what you want to do further.
Apple does not have 10.5 for sale anymore from what some other users have said on here so if you want to go that route you will have to find a copy for sale such as from eBay or one of the Mac resellers.
Before taking the machine to someone, try booting from 10.6 and see if that works...that way you can narrow down problems the machine may be having. -
I have a mac pro desktop and it won't boot up, it keeps freezing at the circle and then appears to be loading and then it shuts off. I've turned it off and disconnected everything and reconnect and it does the same thing.
I wasn't aware PRAM batteries did any charging

and just 'held' information in NVRAM and PRAM when needed and there was no power coming in
I can't see data held in NVRAM/PRAM doing something like keeping time without some power. One can't assume a permanent Internet connection to update it when the system is turned on now can we?
I assume it is on a 1000VA UPS that has good battery and fully charged too, and didn't discharge during the vacation
If the UPS was turned off it's as good as being totally unplugged so it may well have still been at 100% upon return. There's no power delivery when the UPS is off remember. -
My MacBook Pro WILL NOT START. Powers on, grey apple screen loads then shuts off
Fairly new MacBook Pro with OXLion. When I try to turn on the computer, the startup noise and screen appear (grey loading screenwith apple icon). A loading bar at the bottom of the screen fills about a third up, then the computer shuts down again.
ANY HELP?????????Power off the Mac, press option, command,power button. Just press them at the same time for a second. Then try power up. If still no joy, try a safe boot. With the Mac powered off, press power button and hold shift key down, this boot will take longer so be patient, continue to hold the shift key till you see the progress bar come up and the spinning gear, you can then release the shift key and let it finish booting. Your login window should come up try logging in. Check some of the applications and see if they seem to function correctly, in safe boot mode only essential OS applications are launched, if all is normal try powering off and rebooting in the normal mode. If all is well in safe mode itmight mean some third party software could be causing the problems.

Not sure what you mean by "reboot" but if you haven't already, try to reset it: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release. If you can't reset it you'll have to try to put it in recovery mode and restore it, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.

When i plug my Ipod touch 4th generation in it goes to the apple screen and then shuts off and then turns back on and goes to a solid blue screen.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iphone 5 will freeze up and turn off and back on. It will go to the apple screen and then go black MULTIPLE times before it comes back on. No buttons work while this happens. My phone is a week old.
User troubleshooting is restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. If you perform these steps and it still doesn't work, then make an appointment at the Apple Genius bar and have the hardware checked.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Hold alt or option key at bootup, do asny boot choices show up? -
How do I turn off the Genius app in App Store. I've gone to Settings/Privacy/Location Services/System Services then swiped Genius for apps 'off''. Also, I've gone to Settings/ITunes and App Stores/Click on AppleID/View Apple ID and then turn off Genius. Still nothing has worked. I'm still stuck with Genius offering the same apps to me. Mind you, once I click on the App Store there is nothing I can do but swipe left and right. There's absolutely nothing at the bottom of the screen like a features tab, nothing. There is, however, a categories button at the top, but that's it. Irrelevant.
FWIW, I just got off the phone with Apple technical support about this. I use Genuis for creating playlists, so I don't want to disable it, but Apple support confirmed that there is no way to avoid syncing Genius data without disabling Genius altogether. I'd read somewhere else that subscribing to iTunes Match might allow you to avoid this, but that is NOT the case, as I've confirmed, and Apple support has confirmed. For me, it routinely syncs thousands genius of items, so I have to allow a lot of time for my manual syncs.
