Iphone 3GS Lock Button

Hi
I have an issue with my iPhone - the lock button for some reason, decides to either press itself over and over (as if I were clicking the button repeatedly) or just seems to try and turns itself off, bringing up the slide off screen. The button is not visibly depressed and I've even opened it up and taken a look for any mechanical reason.
So, I've tried restoring from backup, restoring from factory settings and reinstalling iTunes (whilst doing the other two steps). Software is also all up to date!
Hopefully someone out there has had the same issue and managed to find a solution..!
Cheers
Greg

Sounds like it either got wet or was physically damaged somehow.

My iPhone 3gs locked when I was updating to iOS 6.0.1.
I begun updating by the iPhone itself, then it asked to connect to iTunes, but at the end  - after tried to restore the firmware it does not restore (id error 29). I've just replaced the battery, there is something linked with this?
Why do I unlocked my iPhone?
    Thanks,

    and replace it yourself?

  • IPhone 5 Lock Button Broke

Hi, just this last week my iPhone's lock button has started playing up. It isn't locking when i press the right part of the lock button but is when i press the left side of the lock button. A few friends have told me to go into the apple store but i have done this before and they don't seem very helpful if you're not purchasing anything, i suppose it just depend on who you have serving you. Anyways just wondered can anyone shed any light on this? my iPhone has just gone out of warranty on the stroke of new year which is just great, this leads me to think nothing can be done. But please if anyone has any information it would really help thanks.

Apple announced a lock button repair/replacement program today if your serial number is on the list.

  • How to fix iphone 5 lock button??????

My iPhone 5 lock button just broke unexpectedly!!!!! It barely works unless I press down with added pressure!! Help!?!?!?

TMI (too much information - I don't want to know about your toilet activities and I guess neither does anyone else here)
you could (once the phone has dried out and you hav waited a few days and are game to turn it on) go to settings/general/accessibility and turn on assistive touch.  A little button will appar on the screen and you can drag it around if it gets in the way.  If you tap on the button then tap on device then hold the little padlock for a while it will turn the phone for you

  • IPhone 4S lock button extreemly stiff?

Today my iPhone 4S lock button suddenly became stiff and requires a lot more force to depress, I can't see any dirt beneath the button. Is there any fixes for this? I knocked the back a few weeks ago and its cracked on the other side, will I still be covered by warrenty if I take it to the Apple store?

your phone will NOT be covered by warranty as it's clearly sustained accidental damage.  You can have your phone replaced for $199 ($59 if you purchased AppleCare+).  That's what Apple will offer.
You can try a 3rd party iPhone repair shop if you don't want your phone exchanged.

  • IPhone 4 lock button broken, won't turn on

iPhone 4 lock button broken, used assistive touch for the last several months. Today iPhone turned off in my pocket and is unresponsive to even plugging it into charger. Is there any way to get it to restart?

There is nothing you can do as you won't be able to reset the device.
You can wait until the battery goes flat then try connecting it to power so it restarts. If the same issue occours then you'll need to restore it on iTunes by entering recovery mode.

    Hi Atique ur rehman,
    Thanks for your query.
If the sleep wake button on your iPhone is unresponsive, first try and reset all setting by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.
If this does not resolve the problem, I would sound more like a hardware based issue.
I would recommend that you contact AppleCare so they can run further tests and diagnostics to help you solve your solution better.
If you can also access an Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Center, that would be much better.
Go to https://locate.apple.com/country for further support with your device!
    Thanks,

  • Iphone 5 lock button freezes buttons

My iPhone 5 lock button presses fine and is smooth but when I press the button it screenshots and then freezes both the home and lock buttons from working. I am wondering why this is and if there is an easy way to fix this.

    Hello jason0819,
It may help to reset your iPhone.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the behavior persists, the next step would be a restore of the device.
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
