When my phone is not plugged into the charger or computer, it will not turn on at all; even though it is not dead. When it's plugged into the computer, it will go to a white screen with a grey apple icon and then it will turn off again and repeat. IOS7 and iPhone 5.

Try this step and if you cannot get your device into recovery mode there is a chance you have a hardware failure and you need to call apple to see what service options you have. -
MacBook Pro 17" power adapter lights orange when NOT plugged into laptop.
My MacBook Pro power adapter lights up orange even though it is not plugged into a device. When I do plug it into my laptop it remains the same and does not charge. Due to this my laptop is now dead. What does this orange light mean?

This is a strange occurance, and it seems that it may be a hardware malfunction.
Make an appointment so you don't have to wait too long.

Macbook restarts after going to sleep when not plugged into mains
Hi all,
I've a mid-2012 Macbook Pro running Yosemite (10.10.3), 2.5GHz i5 and have just recently upgraded it to 16GB RAM (and I'm wondering if that's the problem).
The post title says it all really - if I let the computer go to sleep when it's not plugged into the mains, when I wake it up by pressing a key it restarts. Battery life is not a factor in this - I can have lots of juice left but the same thing will happen.
Once rebooted, I get the 'Your computer restarted because of a problem' window with the following text; I'm hoping someone smarter than me might be able to spot something in this that will help resolve the problem.
Any thoughts appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

It sounds like your MacBook Pro is spontaneously restarting, and you wonder if it’s because you recently added memory to the notebook. Take a look at the article linked below which provides a lot of great information about “kernel panics” and specific troubleshooting related to RAM.

I'm trying to install a samsung series 7 750 monitor for use with my mini mac. When I plug the computer to the monitor I get a blank screen, no picture. When not plugged in to the computer the screen is black and a square displAys that says analog, HDMI 1, HDMI 2. Any ideas?
Hey there saraszeg,
It sounds like you are trying to use an external monitor with your Mac Mini but cannot get more than a gray screen. You can use the following steps to help troubleshoot the Mac side of things here:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1573
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Take care,

Is it common that iPhone would make buzzing sound after plugged into a charger?
Hi, I have recently noticed that my iPhone would make buzzing sound through the headphone jack after plugged into a charger. I am not sure if this is common among other iPhones.
Yeah it is. Also tried with computer, dock, etc.

My 3gs iPhone does not always sync when plugged into my computer. I just updated everything yesterday, and it still won't sync with iTunes. Doesn't even show up as plugged into the computer.
Check the USB adaptor. I have a funky USB port that doesn't work well with all cables. Jiggle it a bit and/or try another port on the computer.

Laptop turns off randomly when not plugged into charger
I have a 2013 Macbook Air and a few weeks ago, it started turning off randomly after a few minutes of use. It only works without turning off when it's plugged into the power.
I tried resetting the SMC various times, and the battery software update was not applicable to my device.
I'm not sure if it's a dead battery or not, because the device still charges.
I work for a magazine, and kinda need my laptop so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank youHey bbkae
Continue you troubleshooting with the article below to check the health of your battery. I would try to run hardware diagnostics on it to see if it passes the test.

MBP shuts down when not plugged into wall
hey there,
was wondering if anyone has experienced this paritcular problem or knows what to do...
I've had my MBP for about a week now, and I just notcied a day that it randonmly shut down... but it was only once, so I though it wasn't that big of a deal. I left the computer charging all night ast night, and when I tried to start it without it being connected to the wall, it wouldn't boot. I checked my batter power, which is 89% full, reset the PRAM and reset all of my premissions, but it still shuts off everytime the DC adapter isn't plugged in. I aso ran the memtest program for RAM which someone on this forum had suggested, but it says that everyhting is A-Ok... What do i do? Somebody, please help!I am having the exact same problem as you! The computer will run all day plugged into the wall, but after I remove power, it shuts down within 10-15 minutes. It usually refuses to start up again at all until you plug it back in, even though the lights on the battery indicate full charge. After plugging in and restarting, OS X still reports full battery charge. I have tried resetting the PRAM and PMU, and also cleaning the magsafe connections. Apple Hardware Test reports no problems.
I added a stick of Techworks memory from OWC when I got the computer. Other people with sporadic shutdown problems seem to be pointing to bad memory as the culprit. I don't know if that applies here though, because the problem only happens on battery power. Also, I installed the memory as soon as I got the computer and it's been working fine for almost a month now. My shutdowns didn't start until a couple of days ago. I think i will remove this extra stick of memory and see if the problem goes away, just in case. Maybe you should try removing the additional memory you got from the apple store to see if you got a defective piece.
I haven't tried calling apple yet regarding this. Have you? I'm curious to see what they say about it.

One day the phone just got stuck on ios6 screen then once unlocked it said plug into iTunes. Once I did the phone will not allow me to complete a restore. At the last stages the phone will cut off. I have asked a friend to have a look and he thinks it is stuck in recovery mode loop? I don't know what else to do. The phone is not under warranty and I bought it second hand before Christmas. Please give me any help or advice.
Sounds like a hardware failure. Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store. There is no magic that can fix a hardware failure.

Slow performance when not plugged in with charger : please help
My recently purchased Macbook pro is and everything is as i excpected and works like a dream
That is until i disconnect the charger and suddenly everything gets incrediby clunky and slow?
i understand after some research that the performance will drop slightly when not connect to charger but it suddenly becomes unworkable and is incredably frustrating to the point where its almost useless.
I have hardly any programmes installed still have over 470Gb free on hard drive
i have run tests through the utility function with no faults reported but cant seem to solve the issue
Has anybody else experienced this? are there any quick fixes or will i have to make the journey to the apple store to get it looked at ??
thanks for reading i would really apreciate some help
alexHello there, LaruaGalliers.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great troubleshooting steps for your issue:
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1476
Particularly:
Battery does not charge
Verify that the outlet being used is working.
Try another USB power adapter if available.
If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
Try another USB cable if available.
iPhone or iPod touch displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive
If you see the image below, charge the iPhone or iPod touch with USB power adapter for at least 15 minutes.
You should see this image when iPhone or iPod touch begins to charge:
If the screen still displays the low-battery icon, try turning the iPhone or iPod touch off and then on again.
If the issue persists, follow these troubleshooting steps.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

I have a late 2011 macbook 2.7 GHz i7. This wasn't a gradual thing, it just happened all of a sudden. I had upgraded to mountain lion of which I de-fragged my hard-drive thinking it was a hard drive issue, and am now running snow leopard but it hasn't made a difference. Is there like a energy saving option I am unaware of?? Please help, its driving me crazy. Its making my mac literally useless.
Use Onyx (free) to do a system cleanup (cache cleanup, permissions repair, etc.).

IPhone 3G shuts down when not plugged in
Hello,
I have had this problem for awhile and now just getting to troubleshoot the issue. Basically the phone appears to take a charge after it's been plugged in to my computer and/or outlet, however when removed it shuts down after 30 seconds or so and I have to reboot. Is this a battery issue or another underlying issue? Can it be fixed? I took the phone to the apple store but they were not any help due to no warranty. Thank you!My 3G's problems have only gotten worse with each new update. Now I literally can't use it continuously for more than two minutes without a full charge going down to zero. I can basically just call people on my 3G and that's it. I probably need to get a new phone now, but with the iPhone 5 possibly coming out this year I want to see if the iPhone 4 (and iPad 1) will go through the same ordeal with iOS5.
I think Apple just needs to learn how to make their software more scalable and learn to support different versions of their OS simultaneously.
With so many models in use it's almost become the same as their personal computers. They shouldn't continue to just support one updated OS optimized for one specific model. Microsoft continues to update and support Windows at least one generation back from the current version because they know there are people who are going to own these things for four years at a time. -
Hello,
This is going to sound ridiculous but i accidentally let the end of magsafe 85w charge fall into a bowl with some melted ice cream left in it..... i didn't notice at first until i saw it lying with the charging light glowing despite not being connected to the macbook. i turned it off at the mains and cleaned it out as best i could with a q-tip and a toothbrush to try and get away any excess - there still appears to be some balck residue around the pins, im not sure if this is from the ice cream, or something to do with the electronics being fried in some way.
Anyway, apart from an occasion when i was cleaning it and there was a small spark and a very small stream of smoke (almost unnoticeable) as I initially forgot to unplug it from the mains , it seems to be working somewhat normally again. it charges my macbook and the light turns off when its disconnected but it changes from orange to green randomly sometimes when it is connected.
My main question is, is this dangerous to my macbook to use in this state and if so how? i intend to replace it eventually regardless but at the moment i cant afford to pay the steep £65 price tag for a new charger.
i understand that the charger may eventually stop working but i dont want it to short out my macbook or something - apologies if any of the steps taken above seem idiotic, i really dont know what im doing in the area of fried electronics.....
thanks for any help.So long as the charger is NOT connected to a AC wall outlet, soaking it in penetrating oil will not harm it.
mattmackay wrote:
is the electronics cleaner you are referring to the kind that uses a straw to expel pressurised air into the device to clean it?
Some do come in that configuration but I doubt that you can use the 'pressure' to your advantage. The objective is to get the liquid behind the pins and I think you can only do that by soaking it in a container that is well sealed. The liquid otherwise will evaporate quickly.
Understand that this is what I would try to do if I were well up the Amazon River with no other alternative. A new charger guarantees that it will work. This may not.

Please answer my question asap!! And when I fixed it the guy said there was nothing broken on the inside (didn't fix it at apple btw)
Take it back to whoever "fixed" it, or buy a new phone. Apple won't touch it now.
