IPhone 3GS not showed in iTunes after update to Version 4.0

Hi,
I just made an firmware update using iTunes to my 3GS.
The installation went well, and the iPhone is working great.
But the problem is that iTunes is not displaying the iPhone anymore.
I already tried everything listed on the Apple support page, but nothing will help.
iTunes is also the latest version (9.2).
Windows is still recognizing the iPhone, the erroe is just in iTunes.
When i connect the 3GS iTunes freezes completely for about 1 minute. Then iTunes runs again, but not showing the 3GS.
I already searched several forums but couldn't find a solution.
Can anyone help me please?
Because the iPhone without iTunes is worthless for me...

Same issue here, tried all the recommended solutions, but no change: Iphone shows in Windows, but Itunes does not recognize... (same issue on 2 different computers, phone itself is OK, it shows on other computers, just not on mine...)

I have my iphone 4 for 2 years now and it works with my itunes flawlessly, until recently I bought my Ipad 3.
Ipad 3 cannot be seen in itunes, so I googled it and did this steps.
Disconnect Apple tablet from computer.
Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers folder on your PC
Locate usbaapl.inf file in this folder, right click on it and choose install
After installation complete reboot computer
Connect your iPad. For now on it should be in the device list on iTunes.
I updated my itunes too.
Now my Iphone is not showing up! Tried connecting my ipad and it works without problem.
Tried everything on the net. Even did this:
1. Open Start Menu >> Run and type services.msc and press ok [ this will open up services ]
2. Locate the service named Mobile Device Driver
3. Double click the service to open properties
4. In the "general" tab find the "startup type" drop-down arrow menu and make sure "automatic" is selected.
5. Also see the general tab to check the "service status". If it does not say "started" then click the start button to start the service and connect your phone again and click apply.
Note: If the above procedure does not helped in your case, then try restarting the service
Both my devices can be seen on my PC, just not iphone on itunes.
Rebooted my phone too. Restoring is my last option....

what steps have you taken thus far based on what your understanding of the error code meant?

Hey guys, so here is the thing. Yesterday, after two day struggle I finaly updated my iphone 4 to ios 7. Everything is pretty cool, i like it, except one thing, it doesnt ***** show in itunes anymore. Well during the update it crushed and got stuck to "connect to itunes screen" and wasnt recognized anymore, so i read somewhere that you need to use a different pc to update, so I wen to my friends house, and update went through, and then bam, I get back home, and it still doesnt show in iTunes anymore. Any help please guys? Please, I'm preatty desperete here. Oh and now the AMDS driver is not showing in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Thanks. Helpful, but there are still two issues. Home Screens are just images. What I REALLY want to do is re-arrange the apps on the screens, which I used to be able to do by dragging and dropping. I don't seem to be able to do that now.
Also, while the page tells me I have 83 apps, it still lists only one (Chrome).

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 gives you all of the proper troubleshooting steps for what you need to do to possibly fix this. In the end, you might just need a different computer.

Your iPhone was "unofficially" unlocked by some means to work with a different carrier. Now that you have updated it has relocked to the original carrier. If you do not know who the original carrier was you will need to call AppleCare and give them the model and serial number of your iPhone. Then you will need to contact that carrier to see if they have a process to unlock the phone and if you qualify.

Can you try to connect to another computer?
DFU mode would be the last thing to try before contacting Apple Support or visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store.

I've tried a lot of the stuff mentioned at that link and elsewhere, modifying host files etc. trying to downgrade my iPhone 4 back to 5.1.1 no luck , apple has locked up 5.1.1 for my phone and iPad . one post said I'm "stuck with iOS 6" darn I should have been more careful. I have the 5.1.1 Ispw on my MacBook its a permissions thing I don't understand. I'll post when I find a way around it and I will . iOS 6 took away most of my AirPlay functionality . to hek with iPhone 5 I'm starting to look at android. big bummer apple

Was updating my iPhone (4.2.1) as well as iTunes 3 days ago.
When I connect the iPhone to the computer and open iTunes it's not recognized.
The computer regognizes the hareware.
Yesterday during the process of syncing the error "cannot sync because there is no connection to the iPhone" popped up.
I hope this is the right catergory... but please help.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 4 - since updating to iTunes 10.1.1 I my iPhone is not recognised by iTunes. I have reinstalled and done all of Apple's suggestions up to the point of messing with the deep settings in Windows (I'm not confident that I won't mess up other things if I do this). The computer recognises the iPhone but iTunes ignores it. Come on Apple - how about a simple fix that doesn't require a nerdy ability to delve into the depths of software settings!

I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2, and neither of them will sync my new music from iTunes after updating both of them to iOS 7.1. When I press sync on my computer, the steps start at the top of iTunes, but then it just finishes before it actually starts writing the names of individual songs like it would normally do when syncing. It is as there is no music to be synced but there is. Please help!!

You've tried the following procedure?
Turn your device off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your device and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a device in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.
If this still doesn't work, you should make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have your device evaluated.

The other day I updated Itunes to 11.1. After doing so my Iphone would not connect to itunes, although it is being recognized by my computer. I have done everything that has been suggested to other users with no luck. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I know this is mentioned on the forum and Apple's support pages but I still cannot get my iPhone to show in iTunes after having done step bt step procedures such as:
Updating iTunes (I have the latest version)
Uninstalling iTunes and all associated programs that appear in the add/remove programs list/reboot/clean registry/reboot/re-install (installs with no errors)Disabling Antivirus and firewall
Restarting PC and iPhone
Disabling all but essential services to eliminate conflicts
Plugging into different USB ports
My iPhone 3Gs is not jailbroken, has about 15 apps installed, all from iStore. _It used to connect in iTunes with no problems_ but it would seem that updating iTunes a while back perhaps caused this. I don't know. The phone is visible in Windows and I can browse the photo's on the device from Windows.
What I do notice is that immediately plugging the iPhone into the PC, iTunes hangs for about 30-60 seconds and then is fine again. If I remove the iPhone during this hanging period, iTunes immediately "unhangs".
I have a state of art custom built PC with Win 7 64bit Pro.
What else can I do?

Ever since iTunes updated I am unable to sync my iphone 3gs. I have tried the following steps:
-Uninstalling all iTunes and related software (per apple support steps), restarting, reinstalling all itunes software. Did not work.
-Trying several different USB cables, did not work.
-Tried all USB ports on my computer, did not work.
-Restarting phone/computer, did not work.
-Turning off antivirus software (Avast) and firewall (ZoneAlarm), did not work.
I tried syncing with my friends computer (iTunes 10.3.1 and Windows Vista), and it worked! Unfortunately none of my music is on that computer.
Next, I came across an article and tried the advice listed (install ifunbox on pc, delete itunes.db and itunes.cdb files on Iphone). This allowed my iphone to be recognized by iTunes. It began to sync, and gave me the following error: Unable to sync because the disk is not available.
I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in, it began to sync again. This time it went through all of the aps succesfully and got about halfway throught the music portion, and then iTunes froze. I restarted both systems and this happened the last 5 or 6 times...iTunes freezes during the music sync portion.
One other interesting note...in iTunes, the space claim bar (colored bar on bottom of sync screen) shows that there should be about 5 GB of music on my iphone, however the ipod app on the iphone shows no music.
Ughh sorry for the long post I am so frustrated right now.

Nope, haven't been able to fix it. I was able to get some songs to sync by 'manually managing songs' however the songs were all corrupt. They either wouldn't play, or they would start in the middle of the song, and the beginning of the song would somehow be spliced in to the middle of the song!
So frustrating. I can't get apps to sync either.
At this point I am not even going to try syncing my phone until a new iOS or iTunes comes out.
For now I have resorted to jaibreaking so that I can at least have a little fun with it

I have a Dell XPS 8500 with a 64bit i5 Processor and an Apple 4s and I have the same problem. I have been searching for days and can only get the phone recoginzed by disabling power to USB ports and there is no way I can get ITunes to show devices, so I can't see the IPhone. People say Apple monitors these sites but I haven't seen any response from a technical person. Have you? My hunch is they know about the problem but don't have a fix, and have other priorities for their team. If my hunch is correct, its quite extraordinay because I am close to selling my 4s and getting some phone which is easier to work with. Time is my scarcest resource and I have devoted way too much of it to this issue.
