my iphone 3gs is switched off, it is not starting even after pressing sleep/awake button & home button simultaneously
please help!

Hi all,
I have an iPhone 3GS with the latest firmware, and I've just upgraded to iTunes 11. I was plugging the iPhone to backup on the iTunes 11 when the iPhone blacked out and refuse to start. The battery life is at 100%.
I tried restoring in DFU mode but keeps giving me the error 2001. I tried restarting my Mac and iTunes, still no luck.
I plugged in an external battery pack, and the Apple logo comes up, it backs up the phone until the Home screen, then crashes again and restarts with the Apple logo. It repeats until I remove the external battery pack. At any point when I remove the battery pack, it stops working.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Iphone 3GS not starting totally frozen

I tried with some answers given in the community like holding the sleep/wake and home button for 10 seconds, my battery was fully dead, whenever i connect to charge in AC it will start charging and shows the apple symbol and nothing more after that.
The phone staying at Apple symbol and not booting further.

Sometimes when a battery is completely flat in needs to be connected to the charger for a while before the phone becomes responsive again
what are you using to charge with? try a different cable or charger block

I was useing a Gps app and playing the ipod when the phone froze up. i got it to come back on for a little while then the touch screen stoped working and the screen when to a dark apple logo. then it shut off and there was nothing there. now nothing will work to turn it on. pluging it into the wall will not turn it on or even make the beep that says it is pluged in. any ideas would be greately apperacitated.

I have tried this and there was no luck. I have tried everything I can think of/ or have seen on here. every combanation of buttons and chargers and computers and everything. with no luck. i am heading to the genus bar in a few to have them look at it and hopefully resolve the problem.

IPhone 3GS Wont Start

So.... I live in England, I recently visit Ireland where I turned on my iPhone. It wouldnt connect to a mobile network whilst I was in Ireland and even showed a message saying, IMEI not recognised.
So, I get back to England tuen on my phone and it wont connect (im on Orange).... I plugged it into my laptop and did a restore and it then brought up message saying there is a problem with your iPhone, please contact Apple.... So... Contact apple, they want £50 to look at it... So I go to Orange, they say its an Apple issue....
My iPhone is a 32GB 3GS, 18 months old, my contract is 2 years...
Any ideas on what has happened... or is there anyone who has experienced this too ?

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again?
If this does not work, try to save as much data as you can and set it up "as new device": How to back up your data and set up as a new device

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone.
I recommend following steps 2-6 for an issue like the one you described:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

How to solve this problem that I have

i've had a few issues like this.
I've found that it is an issue with items that are already on your phone.
several troubleshoots.
1) uncheck everything from syncing (apps, music, tv shows, movies, podcasts, etc), try to perform a sync, it most likely will work. Then, sync after checking each item individually (check the sync box for videos, then sync, check the sync box for podcasts, then sync, check the sync box for music, then sync, etc). One of two things will happen, 1) you will fix the problem, or 2) you will identify exactly what part of the sync setup is the culprit.
2) if the above doesn't work, I've found that it is likely an issue with files that are on your phone but your phone doesn't exaclty recognize (for example, I had copies of music on my phone that didn't show up in the music app, I went in on itunes and manually deleted those songs from my phone and that fixed the sync). to do this, check the "manually manage music and videos" box at the bottom of "summary" while your phone is connected to itunes. Then, go to the left hand pane in itunes and find your iphone device, click the drop-down arrow that shows all the categories for media on your iphone. Go to the music category in your iphone on itunes and delete all the music that shows up. Try to perform a sync - it likely will work. After this, you can uncheck the manually manage music box and re-sync your phone as normal

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
