Iphone 3gs passcode locked and stuck in emergency - how do I restore it as iphone says i need to unlock the phone before it can access it but all i can do is dial emergency number
My iphone suddnly went into emergency numbers only mode and I have stried soft reboots - but no sucess - it goes back to the emergency screen.
Have tried plugging it into my laptop - but iplayer says that the phone needs to be unlocked before it can access it
Please can anyone explain how I can overcome this - I am totally baffled
Even when your iPhone is locked up, you can still sync it with your computer. Do that first so all your data is backed up in iTunes. If you're using iCloud, you might want to switch it over to your computer for now just to be sure your information is safe.
Put your iPhone into DFU mode. To do this, reboot your iPhone by holding down the power and home buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds. When you see the Apple logo, let go of the power button but continue holding down the home button. Soon you will see an image displaying a USB cable, the iTunes icon, and a message that says "Connect to iTunes."
Assuming you still have your iPhone connected to your computer with iTunes open, you'll also see a message telling you iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and needs to restore. Now you can click the Restore button in iTunes and then wait for iOS to download and install on your iPhone.
Sync your iPhone with iTunes to restore all your data and you'll have it back to normal with no password!

The only reason you use bluetooth between iPad/iPhone its to share the internet from iPhone to wifi only iPad.
In order to see the bluetooth connection, you must first enable the Personal Hotspot on the iPhone.
Then on the iPhone, open Setting s> Bluetooth.
Then open the Bluetooth on the iPad adn pair teh devices. -

Hold down the power button and home button at the same time until the phone powers on, shuts back off, powers on again and continue to hold it until it shows the itunes logo to plug in to itunes. This should allow you to restore without unlocking it.

The phone will only show it's location if it is connected to cellular network or Wi-Fi. If those options are switched off, you can't locate the phone.

Please disconnect and insert a SIM card in the iPhone.Did you get an email from vodafone confirming that the phone is unlocked? Did you put a SIM card in the phone? Did you complete the unlock process as detailed in the email? Did you restore your phone as new?

The iPhone HAS to be active making calls on the UK carrier network for the carrier to identify as "theirs" and therefore eligible for the Carrier to unlock
The way to achieve this is to use a PAYG sim making and receiving calls to establish a customer relationship with the Carrier and then follow the Carrier's process to unlock
With a PAYG it usually means adding a specified (by the carrier ) amount usually £15 /£20 depending on the carrier

Thanks for asking, I knew I had forgotten to mention something. The phone was indeed unofficially unlocked, since there were no apple stores or even premium resellers in the region I lived in during the given procedure had to be done.
I understand this could be a further complication, especially the fact the home button does not work. However, I was wondering if there would be a possibility to use a third-party application instead of iTunes to restore the iPhone? IF someone does know of such an application, I could easily solve further problems myself. Basically, the main issue here is my lack of ability to enter DFU mode. -
my ipod got disabled and it says to connect it to itunes but the computer i use got reset so it lost all the memory of itunes and i re downloaded it and it says it cant connect my ipod to itunes because i need to put the pass code in on the ipod but it wont let me because its disable some one help me out.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I bought the phone from the Apple Store a few days ago and I'm leaving for Europe in a few days for 4 months. I do not intend to change my existing "simple" phone service with Telus (Samsung Rugged II) right now before leaving, I intend to buy the service in Europe. The place I'll spend most time has only 3 G and I know that the LTE with my phone has Band 4 and 7 and can' work on European LTE's and that's the reason I decided to buy Americas phone as I will probably change my existing service with Telus when I return back. I have the Apple store valid account (I have iPad) and I have the Apple store receipt for the unlocked iPhone. When I return I may decide to change my existing cell contract but that may be 6 months down the line and, as I paid for the phone and the phone is unlocked ( I did not get any nano SIM in the package), I need to get through the activation without SIM. ------- Can Apple store setup service do the activation for me -------?

I'm not using the phone that much in Canada, Ipad I have has cell connection as well and that's quite OK in NA plus the regular (unlocked) cell and when I go outdoors, I need Rugged waterproof and shockproof device, plus the Magellan GPS. It's only in Europe I want to carry small device I can use Skype, email, Internet browsing plus my unlocked Samsung Rugged ... That's the reason I need iPhone activate and set up ahead of my trip ... And I don't want to pay for service here when I will not use it for some time (perhaps never on the regular basis, just travels).
I believe that they want to confirm your identity and prevent theft but my registration through wifi and my Apple id should be sufficient together with receipt ... -

Does the film show in the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page for re-downloading ? If it does (films can't be re-downloaded in all countries, and even where they can be re-downloaded not all film studios have agreed to it) then try deleting the film from your iTunes library and redownload it : re-downloading.
If you can't re-download the film or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

We have an intel Xserve 10.6 server with a 1 TB Apple Drive Module. We need some more space for iTunes media for serving out audio to a small audience (perhaps 10 simultaneous users). Would it be OK to use an external drive (USB2) for this? Thoughts?
