IPhone 3GS Photos - Permissions = Everyone No Access

Hi,
I often import photos from my iPhone 3GS using Image Capture in Mac OS X Snow Leopard. However, I've recently noticed a problem with the files. Here are the steps:
• Take a photo using the iPhone 3GS' Camera app
• Launch Image Capture in Mac OS X Snow Leopard
• Click Import All (Import To Desktop)
• Right-click the IMG_7312.JPG file on the Desktop
• Click Get Info
• Scroll down to Sharing & Permissions
• Reuben (Me) is set to Read & Write, as you'd expect
• Everyone is set to No Access
Everyone being set to No Access causes lots of problems when you try to share the photo(s) with other users, such as those on your Home Network, because they don't have permission to even Read/Open the file!
Surely this is a bug in the iPhone OS?

Thanks for your quick reply. I'm not with my iMac now but will try it tonight. Regarding your solution A1: does Command-S work as Terminal, or is Terminal needed at all? Does it matter if the screen at which it is stalled is not blue (which might be the background before Users' accounts appear?)? It is a gray screen with Apple logo. I have also found the following post which gives a different solution:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/15469394#15469394 That user described the stall as similar to mine: "the gray screen of death with the perpetual wheel." That solution apparently requires use of Terminal. Can I access that via the Mac OS X Install DVD?

  • My iphone 3Gs only has wi fi access within 1 to 2 meters from router

My iphone 3Gs only has wi fi access within 1 to 2 meters from router.  It had been working normally for the last two years. I changed wifi modem a couple of months ago but still worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.  I have the same problem with other wifi networks. The iPhone only picks them up if it's within 1 to 2 m of the box.
I've tried turning the phone and the modem on & off, restoring the phone and different wifi networks - no change, still has the same problem.
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong or what I could try next?

These are the symptoms of a loose or detached Flex Cable # 6 at the top of the Logic Board.

  • I have recently upgraded my firmware to ios 5 on my iphone 3gs and now i cant access my photos from my computer

i have recently upgraded my my iphone 3gs to ios 5.0.1 and now my computer doesnt recognise it as a camera. is there any way i can access my photos stored on my phone from my computer? i also dont have wifi so i cant use the icloud option.

    Hi Amy,
I have exactly the same problem. Before the update to 5.0.1 whenever I connected my 3GS to my MacBook Image Capture used to open. Now nothing happens. When I opened Image Capture or iPhoto, either program recognized my device as the iPhone, but no pictures showed up on the screen.
I emailed the photo's from the iPhone to myself and that worked OK.
Have no idea why the computer doesn't recognize the iPhone as a camera anymore.
You haven't had any answers on your question, so no solution yet.
    Hope someone can help us.

  • Downloading iPhone 3GS photos and Videos to other computers

I recently got my first iPhone and am still finding out how to do things, so, apologies if this sounds dim but....
How do I download photos and videos from my iPhone 3GS to other computers?
I can plug in to my mac and sync everything with iTunes - no problem
I can plug into a PC and open up the iPhone files and copy across to the PC- no problem
    BUT
If I plug a mac other than my own it just opens up iTunes. How can I copy a photo onto this mac without syncing the whole thing?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Rob

When iTunes opens up, just close it down, because you do not want to sync with any computer other than the computer you normally sync with. Then launch iPhoto & you can then import the photos/videos in your camera roll. Photos/videos synced to your phone cannot be imported to any other computer.

  • IPhone 3GS photo rotation bug report

I'm running an iPhone 3GS (MC133B) on Phone OS 3.0.1 (7A400) connected to a MacBook Pro running the most current version of Leopard (not Snow Leopard)
    *Steps to reproduce:*
    1) Take a photo in portrait mode
    2) Connect iPhone to the computer via USB
    3) Download images using Image Capture, to folder X
    4) Delete images from the iPhone using Image Capture
    5) Set iTunes to sync with folder X
    6) Sync iPhone with MacBook
    7) Inspect images on iPhone
    8) Inspect images on MacBook
    9) Upload images to a web-service like gmail, facebook or Flickr, inspect images.
    *Actual result:*
The photos appear right-way-up on the MacBook
The photos appear rotated 90 degrees on the iPhone
When e-mailed using Gmail or uploaded to a website like Facebook, the images appear rotated 90 degrees sideways.
    *Expected result:*
The photos appear right-way-up on the MacBook
The photos appear right-way-up on the iPhone
The photos appear right-way-up when uploaded to e-mail or websites.
Please advise how I can address this issue. If I can't, please submit this as a bug report to the iPhone OS team.

  • IPhone 3Gs photo recovery

    Hi,
My wife has got her phone into a state where it looks like only a restore will bring it back to life, if that even works. She has hundreds of our photos of our daughter over her first year and has not synced the phone for a long time, she's pretty upset about it and furious with herself. Is there anyway we can recover the photos from the phone? It is not opening as a camera type folder on windows when connected, so I think the only option will be some sort of recovery software. Is there anything anyone can recommend?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear your story, losing precious photos is really an annoying issue, the following will show you the way to recover deleted photos from iPhone, which is certainly supportive to iPhone 3GS, you can have a try!
1 - deleting from an album only deletes from that album - the photos are still in the event they came from
2 - with iPhoto '09 when you delete from an event the photo goes to the iPhoto trash - you can select it there, right click and "put back" so that you can recover deleted photos from iPhone.
3 - having no backup is  not a smart idea - bad things happen and with no backup sooner or later you will lose everything including all of your photos - you should get a large external drive and begin running iPhone Data Recovery or other backup system immediately if your photos and other data has any value to you.

  • Error (-69) when sync'ing iPhone 3Gs photos won't load

After loading a season of tv shows into iPhone my photos won't sync. I have tried remove the show but it still won't sync. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do. ITunes is operating on an XP PC.

was this a result of updating my iphone to ios 4.2?
Yes. iOS 4.2.1 requires iTunes 10.1 or greater, which requires OS X 10.5.8 or greater.

  • IPhone 3GS Photo Album Display Images Mixed Up

    Hello,
I've just created a few albums on my PC and organised all my photos accordingly. However, when I sync with my iphone the main album image displayed along with the album name belongs to another album. For instance, if i create 2 albums, one named "Dog" and one named "Cat", these album titles are displayed correctly on the iPhone but I have an image of a cat beside the folder named "Dog".
    hope i make sense?
    thanks,
    Cat

I get this occassionally. A reset of your phone should cure it.
Hold the Sleep and power buttons down until the phone shuts down (ignore the slider)
Then hold the sleep button to power it back up again

  • IPhone 3GS photos - ithmb, whaa??

So I might be an idiot... but I would love to get the camera roll photos off of my 3GS and into photo folders on my PC.
When I sync, they go into an "iPod photo cache" as .ithmb files - which of course, won't open. I have searched like crazy and have yet to come up with a solution. I really don't want to download (and pay for) Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 unless it's absolutely necessary.
    What's going on?
    Did I do something wrong?
How do I get these photos into folders that I can actually open and remove them from my phone???
(I really hope I'm not an idiot and that there is a simple solution out there in Apple-Land)
    Thanks!

Photos in your camera roll are imported just like photos from any digital camera. In your case, using Windows, you would use the "camera and scanner wizard" in your control panel to do so.

  • IPhone 3GS, photo app crashes after update to iOS 4.0.1

After upgrading my 3GS to iOS 4.0.1, I can no longer use Apple's "photos" app. I start the app, it shows a blank page with pajama lines on it and then closes the app after maybe 20 seconds or so. It's worth mentioning that I have a lot of photos, ~15,000 of them, and most of them are both geocoded and with tagged faces. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Try cutting down the number of photos you have stored on your phone (make sure they are backed up first). I say dwindle it down to a hundred. Just to see if it is because of too many pics for the app to go over, especially with the added data of face tag and geo location. You can always put them back on your phone if you still run into the same issue with far less pics. You also may want to make sure the app has been updated to be compatible with iOS4. Which app are you using by the way?

  • How do I erase pictures from my iPhone 3GS Photo Stream and Camera Roll

Just want to clear the photos I now have on my photo stream on my iPhone. Can't seem to do that.

Wait for iOS 5.1. Don't ask when though. I have no idea either!

  • Incorrect Dates in Aperture from iPhone 3GS Photos...

Hi. I'm posting here as other cameras have no issues. My Photo times, when synched with Aperture, are all out of sequence. Any ideas? E.g. IMG_0603 is showing an image time before IMG_0604. But it wasn't in real life.

Rebuilding the Aperture library didn't help, but updating the previews in the affected events in Aperture resolved the problem.

  • Iphone 3GS photo library updated and all of my photos were doubled.

After deleting all of the duplicate photos, when I open a photo all it shows is a black screen.  Strange that they are showing in the library but can't view them individually.  I tried transferring them to my computer, and it shows them as being corrupted.  Any ideas on how to recover these?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
    what fixes have you tried?
have you found where is your original library is located? Is there both an Old Masters and Masters folder in it?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
how much free space on your boot drive? It's strongly recommended to maintain a minimum of 10-15 GB of free space for optimal system and application performance.

  • I saved photos from my Macbook Pro onto my Iphone (using itunes, 4 years ago). My macbook is now dead and I need to get the photos I saved off of my iphone 3GS transferred to a pc.  Any help...  From my PC I can only access "internal storage"

I saved photos from my Macbook Pro onto my Iphone (using itunes, 4 years ago). My macbook is now dead and I need to get the photos I saved off of my iphone 3GS transferred to a pc.  Any help...  From my PC I can only access "internal storage"

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone.  The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality

  • Problem accessing photo's from icloud when upgraded from iphone 3gs to 5

I upgraded from an iphone 3gs to a iphone 5, but I don't seem to be able to access my photo's that were stored on icloud. As these consisted a lot of my granddaughter from birth I would not like to loose them, even tho I have some copies on my computer.  Am a bit of a novice at all this but can anyone tell me how to access them.  I have tried to follow what it says to do, but only seems to have the photos that I have since taken on my new phone. Nothing from my old one.

Ensure on your on you iPhone 5 that you have Photo Stream enabled. Go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream. Ensure these settings are on.
And also ensure that you have signed in with the same Apple ID that you had on your 3GS.
