IPhone 3GS post iOS6 upgrade...

Hello!
Today, I upgraded an iPhone 3GS which I preserve as an "iPod" for the children.
Well, post the upgrade the original charger simply will not be accepted!?
A respective message appears on the screen whenever I plug it in!
The same stands if I plug the original charger of the "3GS", to my "4"...
The iPhone 3GS charges perfectly well with any other "later" charger...
"Weird" or not?
Definitely weird and frustrating (because it renders the original charger as obsolete).
If this result had been known by Apple in advance, then the implementation as such was rather arbitrary.

  • I upgraded iphone 3gs to ios6 but now iphone will not recognize SIM card

    Hi,
I upgraded both ipad 2 and iphone 3gs to ios6. I don't see any issue with ipad 2 but now iphone will not recognize SIM card. "Please insert a SIM card" message

You say "... but now panorama is not working".  Panorama never was supposed to work before iOS 6, so you'll be using it for the first time with iOS 6.
The way to enable panorama is to open the camera, click the "options" button at the top center, and select panorama.
Does this work on your iPhone?  If not, what symptoms of failure do you experience?

When did you upgrade to 4.1? 4.1 is no longer signed by Apple. It's no longer possible to (legitimately) install 4.1.

I'm going to make some guesses here. You bought your phone second hand. In other words, not from Apple and not from your carrier. What you got is a hacked phone that was originally carrier locked, most likely to AT&T in the US. You are NOT in the US. (If I get any of this wrong, please tell me).
What has happened is when you updated the software, it was re-locked to the original carrier.  ONLY the carrier can authorize an unlock. If it is locked to AT&T, you're out of luck as they WILL NOT unlock an iPhone for any reason.
If it's locked to another carrier, you will have to find out what carrier that is (you can NOT tell by looking at the model number) and find out if they unlock iPhones. If you can't find out, or if they do not, then your only real option is to sell the phone and purchase one from a LEGITIMATE source.
You can find out who the supported carriers are here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937

I think my problem is fixed now.
For the fun of it, I reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1 today (using the exact same installer as I did yesterday), but this time I didn't uninstall iTunes first. As expected, iTunes recognized my iPhone (as I expected it to, until my next reboot).
A few minutes later, Software Update showed up and among the updates is "iPhone SDK Compatibility Update". The description indicates that installing this should fix an issue where iPhones and iPod touches aren't recognized by iTunes. Isn't that interesting?
I installed that update and most of the others waiting for me (including Java, Safari 5.0.1, and a few others - not 10.6.4 though, due to the issues with nVidia graphics cards). After the reboot, I started iTunes, and it saw my iPhone!
So, if you're having this same problem, I'd recommend tracking down this update and see if that does the trick for you. Hopefully it will.

  • TS3297 after updating my iphone 3gs to ios6 a message "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." pls help!

after updating my iphone 3gs to ios6 a message "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." pls help

I have the same problem after updating to the latest iTunes. I purchased an iPhone 4S this past summer and gave my 3GS to my 6 year-old minus the SIM card-- an instant iPod Touch. Things were fine until the latest version of iTunes 11.0. Until I updated to 11.0.1, iTunes would not even "see" the iPhone.
How do I get past the insistence to activate the phone? Right now, it's a useless brick.

  • I have updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS6, I am now frozen on backing up to iCloud. HELP! What can I do?

I have updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS6 and now my phone is stuck at backing up to iCloud! What can I do? I do not want to lose any data.

    Try resetting the device.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
You will not lose any data as a result of the resets.

  • HT201222 need facebook messenger for iphone 3gs having ios6.16

need facebook messenger for iphone 3gs having ios6.16

In a nutshell, you can't get it on the 3GS, must have iOS 7 or later.
I highly recommend getting a 4S or newer phone.

    Hey harikrishnandhk,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issue with your iPhone 3GS. You are definitely taking the correct steps, as you'll want to restore the iPhone in recovery mode. For information on doing so, see this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • HT201263 Upgrading iPhone 3GS to iOS6

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6 using iTunes. After the upgrade is complete the phone tried to connect to Apple Server but couldn't connect to activate. Therefore, the phone failed to proceed further. My PC and iPhone both has active wifi connection. can you please please help me out? i am in Bangladesh. Thanks,

May be your Phone was jailbroken, or may be you have not unlocked legaly (factory unlock). Now all you can do is jailbreak it again by installing ios4.1 on it  (that what I did). And never try again to update it to ios6 untill a proper jailbreak comes for the later. Good luck with that.

  • HT1937 I have upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios6.1, the ios6.1 got downloaded but while installing it, it say "We are unable to continue, we can't activate the iphone at this time"

    Hi ,
I am using iphone 3gs and have unlocked it officially from apple. Now when I tried to upgarde to ios6.1 I was able to download the ios software on my iphone successfully, but when it started installing the ios on my iphone it restarted my iphone and now it says " We are unable to countinue, we cannot activate the iphone at this time. The activtation server is currently down please try after sometime or you can also activate it by connecting to iTunes." .
Please anyone can help in either resolving this issue or restoring it back to my original ios5.1.

This generally is a sign that the iPhone had previously been jailbroken
or hacked to unlock it from the original wireless provider and the update
has relocked it to that carrier. You must contact the wireless provider it
is locked to and ask if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Exactly how did you get Apple to unlock your 3gs? Only wireless carriers
unlock iPhones; Apple does not do so.
