IPhone 3GS Restart During Restore Process

Hi, i have a 3gs 16gb, i have a problem since two days when i check safari, mail, msn just a moment after open the app this restart, and after 4 minutes restart alone, i think was a software problem and i restore today but when itunes was preparing the software to transfer on the iphone this restart again and appear wrong (9), but is recurrent, when i repit the process, just when itunes prepare the software to install this restart again...
please help me. i can solve that? or i need to go to technical assistance in my phone company?
thanks...

You are not talking to Apple here, we are just users, and many will view another users problem and not respond because they have no idea what to say or do, However, according to Apple's support document regarding restore errors http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275
Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

    Hi there Katherine,
I have an article here that addresses this error code and can give you a few more troubleshooting suggestions for this issue:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
    Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
    Regards,
    Braden

  • IPhone unplugged during Restore Process, PLEASE HELP Restore!

    Hi guys,
I was Restoring my original iPhone through iTunes and during this process my brother unplugged
    the iphone from iTunes.
Now, I've been trying to restore again but the iTunes has prompted a little window that says
"Waiting for iPhone". I left it plugged in all night with iTunes on my Mac but it's stuck on that same
    message.
Can someone please help me with this issue?
    Thanks so much,
    Z

Try placing your iPhone in recovery mode.
Turn off your iPhone by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button for about five seconds and then sliding the red slider. If your iPhone is already off, there's no need to turn it on and then off again.
Once it's turned off, press and hold the "Home" button and plug the iPhone into your Mac.Keep holding the "Home" button until you see a dock cable pointing to the iTunes icon. iPhones running older software will display a yellow triangle and text which says "Please Connect to iTunes". You can now release the Home button.
Open iTunes (if it's not already open) and you will be told that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode". Click "OK" and you will be taken to the iPhone pane. Click restore.

  • My iPhone 3GS restarts repeatedly. Cannot be restored even in DFU Mode Restore.

My iPhone 3GS crashed and restarted on its own while running the Pandora app while plugged into a USB and charging. After it would finish starting up, it would say "activation required", as well as showing "no service" where there should have been service available. It would then restart after about 30 seconds to a minute. It would do this repeatedly in an endless loop of restarts.
I tried to do the "DFU Mode Restore" by holding the power and home buttons for 10 seconds, then holding the home button only until it connected to iTunes. The phone did have the black screen, and iTunes told me that the phone was in recovery mode and needed to be restored to be usable. The restore seems to complete, but in the end it fails. It says, "the iPhone "Iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error has occured (1)." It just leaves me with a screen showing that I should connect to iTunes with a USB cable.
Also, it shows no information on the phone in iTunes (capacity, software version, and serial number all show up as "n/a").

    Hello chiropteromania,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you get an error when trying to restore an iPhone. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • IPhone 3GS froze during iOS 5.1.1 update - how do I get out of recovery mode without having to restore?

So I tried to update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1, like iTunes told me to do, and it froze part way through the installation for a couple of hours.  I tried to "reset" the iPhone by pressing both the home and power buttons simultaneously, but now iTunes tells me my iPhone is in recovery mode.  From my limited knowledge, it seems I need to restore my iPhone, but I don't want to lose anything, like my SMS history.
Is there a way to get out of recovery mode without having to restore?
    Thanks!

I came across this post as my iPhone 3Gs had gone into recovery mode on its own accord.   I had hundreds of photos unsaved and was gutted when I saw this post, I felt even worse as it was not the information (gdgmacguy) I wanted to read.
Unfortunately, the above post is simply wrong! A system cannot destroy information in a blink of an eye.   If it were that easy, the forensic teams across the world would have a hard time.  A criminal could simply force a phone into recovery to remove all the data.  Please!
I managed not only to take the phone out of recovery mode but also, salvaged all the data held on it.
To be fair, I am a little annoyed at Apple for not offering a salvage option on the device for such a situation.  And it may be that they will not like me sharing this information, in which case I believe this view to be morally wrong because photos are so important.  We all make mistakes, in terms of forgetting to backup from time to time.
What I used was the Redsn0w software, running as an administrator in XP compatibility mode.  In the ‘Extras’ section it as a Recovery Fix option.  It simply runs some software that takes the device out of recovery mode.  I had to run it twice for some reason but the second time (out of desperation) worked a treat.  The phone is now exactly as it was before it went into recovery mode.  More to the point, it allowed me to backup all the photos and videos that I had failed to do before hand.  And let’s face it, photos and videos are usually the most valuable stuff we keep on our phones.
I hope this help anyone in the same situation. I really hope someone from apple reads it and is able to convince the bosses that a recovery option is very important.  And to take note that YES it is possible to recover data on a phone stuck in recovery mode.  And more than likely it would be easier for apple, compared to other non-apple professionals.
    Good luck.

  • Iphone 3gs restarts on apple logo.

Hi i have an iphone 3gs i bought from ebay nearly a year ago. I bought it jailbroken on IOS 4.1 i think and i have not used it for 3 months. I replaced the battery a week ago. It just shows the apple logo the restarts and keeps doing that forever. I tried turning it of and putting it in dfu mode but keeps doing that. Itunes wont pick it up and as soon as i pull the charger out i turns off and there's no battery. Please help!

    okay try this
Connect the iPhone's USB cable to your computer, but not your iPhone.
Turn your iPhone off. If the phone won't turn off in the traditional manner, just keep holding the buttons until the screen goes dark.
Once you've turned the device off, press the home button on the face of the device and plug in the USB cable to the device's dock connector.
When it turns on, keep pressing the home button until the iTunes logo appears on the screen.
You'll know the phone is now in recovery mode because a window in iTunes will tell you.
You can then start the restore process by clicking the "Restore" button in the iTunes window.

  • Iphone 3gs 16g not restoring

My iphone 3gs 16gb was working perfectly fine this morning.
I decided to plug it into my Mac as I had just bought 2 new apps (Monopoly & Scrabble) and I wanted to update my itunes so i had my back up.
When I connected it automatically popped up with a window telling me I need to restore my iphone. Went through the motions but now it is currently stuck on the status bar that says "Restoring iPhone software ...." and is stuck at approx 1/10 of the way through the process.
Its been like this for the past 10 minutes and kind of looks like its moving but I think the movement but really there isn't.
I now can't access my phone. If I unplug it then the phone is stuck on the screen that tells me to connect my iPhone to iTunes.
I've tried to reset the phone holding down the on/off switch + HOME button together and it just resets back to that itunes image again.
    HELP!

I am guessing that you are getting the error 9 after the restore process froze and you disconnected the phone.
    From the article;
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275
+Error 9: This error occurs when the device unexpectedly drops off of the USB bus and communication stops. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB isolation troubleshooting, using a different USB dock connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.+
Not sure why it froze in the 1st place, but here are a couple of things you can try.
What happens if you use a different USB port?
Make sure you are not using a USB Hub.
Try removing the Apple Mobile Device Service as described here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286
If still no joy, try creating a new user on your computer and see if you can restore it that way.

One concern I have for you is reactivation if you are roaming in England from an Australian SIM. You may need to ask around if that's possible or in England ask the at the Apple store.
