IPhone 3GS Stopped Working... Won't Turn On !!!

Hi Guys
My iPhone 3GS was working fine for the last three months and all of a sudden stopped working this morning. While trying to open a web page on Safari it died. Unable to turn on or off. Screen is blank and if I try to turn it on the Apple symbol comes on for less than a minute and the screen goes blank again. Tried connecting to iTunes and no luck. My computer wont even recognise the iPhone.
I left it to charge on the mains charger for a few hours and still no luck. I have a lot of important information which I cant afford to loose. Unfortunately I did not backup the phone recently. Any ideas how I can get this problem resolved.
Regards

this happened to me about last weeek!and ive only had my iPhone for less than 2 months. i activated my iPhone 3GS on VoiceOver (to see what it was) and i obviously tapped something, my iPhone wasn't working for about 6 days until i had the courage to turn it on. The Apple logo came on and so did the lock screen (for about half a second) and then it went blank, i think i used 3 or 2 fingers (try both!) and tapped the screen either 2 or 3 times (try both again) to turn the screen back on. so do all these combinations!
use 3 fingers and tap 3 times
use 3 fingers and tap 2 times
use 2 fingers and tap 3 times
use 2 fingers and tap 2 times
if it does work use random fingers and tap a couple of times. but when you do these combinations, WAIT for each of them as it may take aover 5 seconds for the screen to turn on again. if nothing works I suggest you take it to an Apple store (if you have a warranty)
tell me if it helped!

If it is still charging using the adapter, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:

  • Macbook Pro wifi stops working, won't turn back on, requires restart to fix?

So for the last two days my Macbook Pro's being doing something very strange. At random times, the wifi will just stop working (as in it thinks I have wifi but no webpages load anymore and my dropbox can't sync) and when I go to turn the wifi off and back on (in an effort to restart the chip thinking it would solve the issue), it won't turn back on. I go into the System Preferences, hit "turn wifi on" and nothing happens. I hit it about 10 times and that does absolutely nothing. I've then tried putting my mac to sleep and waking it back up, which delivers even stranger results; The wifi turns back on, but can't find any networks, both using scan and manually inputting the details of my network. So far the only fix for it is to just restart my Mac and then the wifi works just fine like nothing ever happened (until it happens again, usually a few hours later). I'm currently running OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 on a 15" early 2011 Macbook Pro (MC723LL/A) with 2.2 GHz quad-core i7 and a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD. The most recent modifications I've made are just installing GDB debugger and creating a custom certificate for it to be able to run Eclipse C/C++ IDE on my Mac, but I seriously doubt that would have caused the issue (especially since that was running for a few days before this happened). Has anyone else had a problem like this?

So many people are having this problem. I believe I have solved it. I posted it on another thread, but I will post it here:
First - let me say that I tried trashing the bluetooth preferences and restarting. That worked for about 10 minutes, then I also tried reorder the connections in Network Preferences, that didn't do much either.
Here's what worked: Open System Preference, click on "Energy Saver", uncheck "Wake for network access". This has totally worked for me. I connect flawlessly and immediately to my network and to my printer.
My order of connectivity of network devices is still ordered where Bluetooth is near the last of the devices. But really, try deselecting "Wake for network access"

  • What are the other options of fixing my iPhone 3GS because it won't turn on again after it went blackout?, What are the other options of fixing my iPhone 3GS because it won't turn on again after it went blackout?

I was playing games with my iPhone while charging it and when I'm done playing, I plugged it to a different outlet then it all went blackout and it won't turn on again. It doesn't work even if I charge it or attach it to the computer. Can you please give me other options to resolve this problem? Thank you.

try holding down the power and home button at the same time until you see the white apple logo and then release.  This should reboot/reset your iphone.

  • Iphone 3gs stopped working?

So recently, I've updated my iphone 3gs to ios 6.1.3. Today, it worked fine the whole entire day, but as I was using it, it shut down. It didn't run out of batteries, because when I was using it, it was at 43%. I tried plugging it into my wall adapter, & the red charging sign would come up, then the apple logo appears, but after a few seconds, it shuts off again. It goes though an endless loop, & eventually it would flash a dark screen, & a lightened dark screen, Is there a solution to this? My iphone is not jailbroken, btw.

Yeah usually it takes longer to charge via your computer. So that is normal. If your computer is not regonizing it then you need to put your iphone into DFU mode. Try this:
Plug your phone into your computer.
    1. Hold down both sleep and the hombutton for 10 seconds
    2. After 10 seconds release the sleep button BUT keep the home button pressed down for another 5 seconds.
You shouldnt see anything on the screen, but it should then pop up in your itunes.

  • My iPhone 3GS stopped working after one year one month, and is totally unresponsive.

I went to plug my phone into my stereo as I do daily and it just stopped working. Totally unresponsive.

Charge it for 30 minutes with a wall charger, then disconnect and hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears, about 10 seconds.
BTW, it's a holiday in the US and UK, so amazingly enough, many users are out enjoying themselves, which is why you didn't get an instantaneous response. Even then expecting an answer in less than 30 minutes in an all volunteer forum is optimistic.

  • IPhone 3GS stopped working since upgrading to itunes 10.5

since upgrading my itunes i get these messages saying that
A: charging is not supported with this acessory
B: this acessory is not optimised for this acessory (when trying to use ipod or anything else)
ive read "how to fix this" but people think that its something wrong with the chords and dirty products.
that is not my case. ive tried three different apple chargers in all ports and sockets in the house. none of them are dirty, there are no pins out of place, and no water has gotten near anything. this is very annoying and i cant use my phone at all. moreover my warranty is up but apple did this to my phone with all their stupid updates. you think a company of tech people would know how to properly make software but no.
    so can anybody help?
apple?are you going to do something? or just tell people its their fault like usual?
also now my phone is dead and wont charge so i cant really do much right now.

    Hi,
just made a discovery i wanted to share here with everyone who have this problem with their 3GS iPhone.
Few days ago i'v tried to upgrade my iPhone to a version 5.0, sync it with my comp through iTunes.
It sucked all my datas in, to back it up, but errorr occurred when the phone was preparing for recovery mode.
Mobile died, display went black and no iTunes or computer (even other computer) no longer recognised my phone when plugged in. Like if the phone didn't exist.
I was searching for answers for hours and tried everything people suggested. Bought new charger. Left mobile charging all day. No sign, light, sound... nothing.
So i took it to an Apple store.
The assistant took the phone and left, to check it. After 5 minutes brought the same dead iphone back and said mobile is no longer under warranty and to repair it will cost me over 120£ or so. And that there is nothing he can do, but all my data are safe if i have back up on iTunes.(which i had).
Said he even tried TO CHARGE THE PHONE BY PLUGGING IT TO A HIGHER VOLTAGE!
But no help. Well that's what he thought!!
After about a 30 min or so....sitting in the coffee shop, i throw the dead phone on the table, and without any thought just pressed two buttons, as i did thousand times before. The home and power button on the top, held them maybe 5 seconds... and suddenly the phone woken up!!!!! Empty battery sign appeared on a screen, after few seconds gone again.
I repeated same proccess another 2 times, yes iphone was back!!!
At home i plugged it first into a socket to charge, pressed the buttons, battery appeared and after 10 min sign on a display asked to connected mobile to iTunes.
I did and, then just followed the instrutions appearing on iTunes. After 20-30minutes i had all my datas- photos, videos, calendar, notes, messages and contacts back in my iPhone, and even with some more extra features and improvements.
    Love my phone again.
So my advice is, when nothing helps,
    1. TAKE YR PHONE TO AN APPLE STORE, cause only they understand really what they can and cannot do safely!
    AND IF THEY TRY :
    2. TO CHARGE THE PHONE BY PLUGGING IT TO A HIGHER VOLTAGE! It my wake yr phone up.
    Be patient and carefull.!
    Good luck!!!

  • IPhone 3GS stopped working after update

When I updated my iPhone to the latest version today everything went OK when downloading, but suddenly it told me that the disc (C:\ om my PC) was full. When I cleared some space it continued, but didn't find the software afterwards. In fact my iPhone froze with the image of the white plug and the blue iTunes music-logo afterwards.
I've tried resetting my PC and reinstalling iTunes. I've also held the on-buttons on top an at the bottom in 'till the white Apple appears, but my phone won't go any further. Neither do I have the option to reset anything from within iTunes, as it doesn't recognise my phone.
Now I'm wondering: Is there a remedy?
Appreciate all the help and guidance I can get. In advance thank you!

See if you can get it into recovery mode using RecBoot so Itunes will recognize it. Then try a manual install.

  • Iphone 3gs stops working during use,

and reboots after 3-4 min usage. IOS5 installed. Used to be good before, but I am not sure if this is a HW og SW issue.
Any similar trouble out there, with some advise on how to solve ?

Thanks for reply. I  need to follow up with more details.
Phone is syncing nicely. Updates via WiFi and is seemingly working well with both Itunes (on the IMac in OS-x Lion). The trouble seems to be when the phone is used (annoiying - since this is a phone). Any phone call lasting more than 3-4 minutes will be broken, and phone enters into some status with Apple logo showing, and phone reboots. I simply can't figure it out. I have restored IOS perhaps 3 times.

  • My iphone 5 stopped working, it won't turn on, and i tried charge it yesterday and today

My iphone 5 stopped working it won't turn on, and i tried charge it yesterday and today

    Hey raphaccarvalho
If your iPhone is not powering on, then check out the article below to see if you can get it to power back on. You will want to start at step 3 to try and reset it by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button for about 10 seconds and see if the Apple Logo comes up.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
    Regards,
    -Norm G.
