  • Why won't my iphone 3gs will not sync with itunes???

My Iphone 3GS will not sync with itunes on my iMac computer. Currently the device is plugged in and recieving a charge. I am operating the version 10.6 in itunes and the version OS5.1 on the 3GS. Can anyone help me figure this out?!?!?!

    try this article
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    Products Affected
iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, iTunes 10 for Mac, iTunes 8 for Mac, iTunes 9 for Mac
    Symptoms
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch does not appear under Devices in iTunes after you connect it to your Mac, refer to the troubleshooting suggestions below.
    Resolution
Note: This article is for Mac OS X users. If you are using a Windows PC, please refer to iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows.
To begin troubleshooting this issue on your iOS device, first follow the steps in the appropriate troubleshooting assistant below:
    iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant
    iPod touch Troubleshooting Assistant
    iPad Troubleshooting Assistant
If the issue persists after following the troubleshooting assistant, continue with the steps below, testing to see if the issue is resolved after each section.
Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. iTunes 10 and later requires Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later.
Update to the latest version of iTunes and Install software updates on your Mac.
Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you are not sure if your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications. Disconnect other USB devices, and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    Restart your Mac.
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier only: Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service.
    Additional Information
In rare circumstances, your device may be recognized after reinstalling iTunes, but after you restart your Mac, the device may not be recognized again. If this happens, and you are using Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard), please follow the steps in this article.

  • IPhone 3GS no longer syncs with Itunes

    Hi there, i have:
    MacBook: 10.4.11
    ITunes: 9.2.1
    iPhone: 3GS (4.0.1)
Earlier today I successfully synced my iphone to itunes. All fine there. However, I noticed that there was a message saying a software update, 4.2 was available for my iPhone. Clicked on the update button in iTunes but a message saying 'this version of itunes (9.2.1) is the current version' appeared. Didn't make sense as was in the iPhone update screen on iTunes. Tried again to update and got the same message.
Anyways, thought best to reboot my mac & iphone and try again with the software update. This time though, iTunes doesn't even register that my iPhone is connected to it. I get nothing, doesn't come up as a device and iphone battery is not being charged by the mac. Again have rebooted and still the same.
Checked for software update of iTunes and it says i'm running the latest version, 9.2.1. FYI, have checked the USB ports / cables and they are all working.
Have no idea what's going on! Any ideas? Cheers.

OK, solved - I think. A friend lent me an OS X 10.5 disk which sorted everything on the G5 Power PC iMac. BUT:-
    1. Still no solution for G4 iBook which will simply choke running Leopard
    2. Thank you (ironic here) Apple for removing syncing with 10.4.11 without saying anything. How are you supposed to load new iPhone firmware without syncing???
    3. OS X 10.5 isn't available on the Apple site - it needs to be, and probably free
I'm also really disappointed how little attention has been paid by Apple Support to this discussion. I thought they kept looking at these.

  • Iphone 3gs will not sync with itunes copied from external hard drive.

We transferred itunes from an external hard drive to a new laptop pc, after copying it from our old desktop.  I connected a new iphone 3gs on the laptop (first iphone on any of our computers), and itunes does not recognize the iphone, so it does not sync.  Is there any solution to this problem?

did you copy the itunes folder from my music? and any other folder your music files might have been in.
Another folder to copy is user/appdata/roaming/apple computer

  • IPHONE IBRICKED AFTER CANCELING SNYC WITH ITUNES....PLEASE HELP!

Last night I went to put a few new songs onto my 3g iphone before I found out that I had to leave immediately so I cancelled the sync through iTunes (7.7) and now my iphone won't startup. When I plug it into my macbook itunes it does not appear in the device list and often itunes freezes and I have to force quit out of it. I tried restarting my macbook and that didn't work and resetting my iphone does nothing either. Also, I downloaded itunes again to see if I could reinstall it but that did not work either. I really need help. I have been without a phone for quite awhile now. Thank you

Have you tried a shutdown of the phone? Holding down the power and home buttons for 10 seconds does a shutdown. Then hold the power button until the Apple logo appears. If that doesn't work, try putting into recovery mode. Connect the phone to the usb cable, open itunes then hold the power and home buttons until the recovery screen appears. iTunes will recognise this and ask if you want to restore the phone. Do so. It will restore all of your data except music, vids photos etc. Check all of your sync settings to what you wish to put on the phone and sync. Next time when cancelling a sync, just wait until it comes up cancelled. Oh, and the term "Bricked" refers to a phone that can never be recovered. Yours is frozen in a mode. Don't worry, you cannot brick the new iPhone.

  • Replaced iphone 3Gs will not sync with itunes

Hi, First timer on this forum, read through all questions but could not find a related Q&A to my problem so hopefully someone can offer some help.
I received a replacement iphone from apple but it is not being recognized by itunes on my macbook. My netbook is picking it up, but I need to restore from my back up files to get all my info back. I have gone through the steps offered by apple support, except uninstalling completely itunes. I tried to download itunes v10 but getting an error "Verification code not recognized". My ipod touch and my wifes iphone are not being picked up either. All worked last week?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.
    M

I forgot to mention that when I tried to sync in Windows 7, I had to authorize my PC as if it were a new computer. Is that unusual?
I also just tried rebooting using Vista. Still won't sync.
Now the message reads: The disk cannot be read from or written to.

  • My iphone 3GS no longer syncs with iTunes. The phone is recognised, backs up but then I get an error message: "Waiting for changes to be applied". BUT unlike other people, it doesn't stay stuck on it, instead the process closes down immediately

    Hi all,
Apologies: I've just joined the community and didn't quite figure how to write a msg! Hope it works...
    Anyway,
I read many posts on this annoying error message (Waiting for changes to be applied) in the last 2/3 days, but they all refer to the sync staying stuck on it.
    Mine doesn't.
I read the message, then it quickly shuts down the sync and the iTunes progress bar only shows the apple...
As suggested by many, I removed voice msgs, turned off/on, tried to sync in individual stages (calendar only...) but nothing works.
I am up to date on iTunes (11.1.1.11) and have IOS 6.1.3 on my phone, to sync on a Win8 pc (all worked fine until recently).
I have had this phone for several years and it has never done this.
It worked absolutely fine, until I loaded the latest version of iTunes it seems...
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.
    (I use iTunes 11.1.5.5)

Hey! So I had the same thing happen.  I went to my phone settings and restored it.  It said no information or data would be lost.  After I did that I plugged it into my laptop and it started to sync like it usually does.

  • I have two iphones in my house hold one syncs with my MAC Itunes the other doesn't is there a setting that casues the Iphone to stops syncing with Itunes?

I have two iphones in my house hold one syncs with my MAC Itunes the other doesn't is there a setting that casues the Iphone to stops syncing with Itunes?

You need to start over with Music. On the iPhone Music screen uncheck sync music. Also, on the Summary screen uncheck "Manually manage music and videos", then sync and it should clear off your phone.
Next, choose the music you want to sync. If you want to fit more on check "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". This will reduce quality slightly, but it won't be noticable unless you are using $300 headphones.

  • I have an iPhone 4s that is my primary phone that I sync with iTunes on my computer. I would like to use my old iPhone like an iPod. Can I also sync this phone to the same computer?

I have an iPhone 4s that is my primary phone that I sync with iTunes on my computer. I would like to use my old iPhone 3s like an iPod. Can I also sync this phone to the same computer and iTunes? My ultimate goal would be to have identical iTunes on both phones. Is this possible?
