IPhone 3GS through Nissan Cube SL ipod jack

I am having an issue with my new Nissan Cube SL's ipod jack and my iPhone 3GS.
The Cube is listed as having an iPod dock/jack, but it doesn't seem to recognize that the iPhone is connected. I can get it to charge the iphone with the use of the passPORT adapter, but with or without the adapter it doesn't recognize the iphone as being connected.
I've tried an 3rd gen ipod and it works perfectly.
I've considered trying one of Cable Jive's Universal docks which is a female ipod connector with a female USB connector on the other end, and using the standard usb/ipod charging connector as the bridge between the Cable Jive adapter and the iphone, but I am guessing that I can't bridge a line out through USB like that.
I've been pestering my dealer into a solution, but I thought I would tap into the collective to see if anyone else might have a solution.

It sounds like the jack installed by factory on the cube may not be fully compatible with 3GS...if you can try the jack with a 2G or 3G and see if it works...
Many 3rd party accessories have reported compatibility issues until the 3rd party company updates the PIN and voltage settings of their accessory to truly make it 3GS compatible... some are compatible with 2G and 3G but not exactly or fully with 3GS and that is a hit and miss thing...try the adapter solution and you may get your resolve...

My iphone 3gs wont update. itunes and ipod touch update no problem, my GF has exact same phone and hers updated also...any advice?

If I was in your shoes, I would choose to restore the iPhone with iTunes and then choose to NOT restore a previous backup.  I'd then go on to set up the phone as though it were totally new, and choose the stuff to load onto it.
The reason I'd go through that trouble.. even though it meant losing a lot of settings and having to set stuff up again .. is because I wasn't sure I could trust the backup that it's restoring from.
If you have trouble again after doing the fresh reload -- especially if it's soon after you do it -- you may have a hardware issue with the phone, such as faulty flash memory or a processor chip that's failing. If that's the case, you'll want to consider your repair/replacement options at that point.

  • HT4623 How can I retrieve my Contacts that I lost after updating iOs 6 on my iPhone 3GS through wifi?

I lost all my Contacts after updating iOS 6 on my iPhone 3GS through wifi. All my other apps, Notes, Photos, etc are as it is but none of my Contacts appear. I also signed up to iCloud during the update but can't find Contacts on iClouds. Pls help!

It is strange people experience this problem only with Contacts because normally contacts are backed up with Notes and Photos and that stuff. If you are willing to do a do-over, you can try to backup, restore, and put your data back on again and see if anything new appears. You never know if some file clould have had some kind of conflict because iOS 6 was being installed while data was being restored at the same time.

  • I can't transfer songs purchased on my iphone 3gs through itunes to my windows 7 pc. I've done it in the past, but now I can't. What should I do?

I have a iPhone 3gs and I purchased 30 songs and an audio book on my iphone through itunes.  I manage my own songs on my PC's itunes.  I tried to drag and drop my legally purchased songs and audiobook onto the itunes library on my PC.  It will not allow me to do this.  When I purchase songs on my PC through itunes, I can drag and drop songs to the iphone, but it won't allow me to do it from phone to pc.  I checked a number of sites trying to find an answer.  Many of them recommend updating the itunes version.  I started to do this, but at the beginning of the update it said I might lose files on my iphone since they weren't transferred to my PC library.  I stopped the upgrade, because past upgrades have wiped out all songs, ringtones, books and apps from my phone.  (The phone and PC are all authorized.) Could someone please tell me a simple straightforward way to copy the phone files onto my pc via itunes?

When conntecting to a public Wi-Fi conenction, here's what you do. I'll use the public Wi-Fi for Starbucks as an example. Turn on the Wi-Fi adapter on your Mac and choose "attwifi". When it connects, open your Web browser. You'll then be re-directed to a screen where you need to accept the terms and agreements when using the connection. Once you agree to the terms and agreements, you'll be granted access and you can surf the Internet.

    Hello,
I recently tried to turn on my IPhone 3GS Personal Hotspot to use as a wifi modem for my IPad2 to browse web outside of my home as I normally use Internet wifi modem at home, but the IPhone 3GS does not show up the Network Name and Password and my IPad does not show up the network name in wifi section. Please show me if you know how to set up the Network and Password (Security). Thank you

  • IPhone 3GS : Random Interruptions while using iPod & NikePlus App

IF YOU ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM PLEASE CONTACT APPLE BY PHONE or EMAIL
I JUST SPOKE TO APPLE CARE AND THEY CLAIM NOONE ELSE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS.
They told me that if more people complain, then and only then, will they have their engineers look into it.
I've been having the same problem also. It first happened with the NikePlus App....it would pause workout and resume workout randomly.
Yesterday I went for a bike ride and while using the iPod on my iPhone 3GS the Voice Control would interrupt the music at random.
I think it started after the recent (June2010) iPhone software update.
    Totally Annoying!!!
Applecare recommended that I open iTunes with my phone attached and proceed to 'Restore phone to New'. They asked me not to add any apps to the phone until after testing the iPod again during another workout to see if the problem is resolved. Then, I'm to add the NikePlus app and try it again. This way, they can try to pinpoint if it's an App Calibration problem. I'm to contact them to with the results. (I'll post it here also)
*If you too have this problem...please report the problem to apple so that they can address the issue.*

  • HP Photosmart Premium c309a not visible to iPhone 3gs through Bluetooth

I am trying to connect my iPhone 3gs to my c309c all in one printer with BlueTooth.
I confirmed that my iPhone Bluetooth works as I have 2 other devices synced to my iPhone.
I have checked to ensure that the blue tooth is on on the printer as well as the options are correct. It shows visible from the printer, but for some reason my iPhone does not detect it.
Any one else run into this before?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!
    Johnme

I contacted Apple customer support and they say they do not currently support bluetooth connections to printers.  He said that support may come in and update several months from now.

  • IMessage on iPhone 3Gs being used as an ipod

I have an issue.  I upgraded to the 4Gs, gave my wife my Phone 4 and plan to use her old 3Gs as an iPod touch for my son.  Here's the issue I'm running into.  I created an iCloud email for my son on order to use iMessage for free texting.  The 3Gs which has been upgraded to ios 5 still shows my wife's phone number as an option to receive iMessages at.  Obviously this is a problem because if I send a text to my wife or my son it goes to BOTH phones.  I'be removed the sim card from. The 3Gs and even deleted the phone number from the 3Gs but it does not remove her phone number.  You also cannot delete her phone number in the iMessage options for receiving texts.
Will I have to set the phone up as new in order to correct this issue?

I fixed this issue. I was using an iPhone 4, recently switched to a Windows phone. However, all incoming texts sent by my family/friends who use iPhones were still being sent as iMessages despite sending them as texts to my phone number. I noticed that my phone number was still a part of my iPhone although I changed it. I spent about 2 hours first with ATT support then with Apple support but no luck. I was told to basically restore my iphone to default settings(which means i have to lose all data). But I took my chances & tried the following which fixed the issue.
    1. Go to Settings-->Messages-->Send & Receive-->sign out of your Apple ID
    2. Back in Settings-->Messages, turned off the iMessage.
    3. Go to Settings-->Facetime, signed out of your Apple ID.
    4. Back in Settings-->Facetime, turned off the Facetime.
    5. Now go to Settings-->General-->Reset-->Reset all settings-->confirm it.
Now it will reset all settings in your iPhone ( it WILL NOT delete any data). Now turn off the phone & power it back on. Now go back to settings & turn on iMessage, log in with your Apple ID & repeat the same with Facetime as well. You will now receive text messages to your new phone. People can iMessage when they send it to your email associated with your iPhone. Hope this helps. If anyone from Apple support is reading this post, please share it amongst your team.
Just went through these steps and they worked PERFECTLY!  Thank you!

  • IPhone 3GS and Nissan 2010 Bose Sound System Issue

I have a 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe with a Bose sound system and iPod intergration. Until recently everything worked well with my iPhone 3G S, however now on occasion, the iPod function stops dead in the middle of a book or sound. When I turn the power on an off, the car iPod system is still locked. The other functions of the sound system like regular and sattellite radio work fine. When I disconnent the iPhone there is a "Check Device" message on the car system screen. The only way to unfreeze the system is to turn of the ignition and restart the car. It seemed to start doing this after I installed the iPhone iOS4 upgrade last month. Anyone else seeing this?

Same here. Brand new Nissan Altima Coupe with the Bose PY05F premium sound system. Stuttering, staggering and flat out freezes up.

  • Connection between MacBook Air and iphone 3gs through a hub isn't good

Several times the connection between my computer and iphone has stopped or cancelled saying that the iphone had been disconnected. But nothing had been touched! Why?

    Hey,
Plug the iPhone directly into the MBA. If your going to use a hub make sure it's a powered hub, the hub itself should have it's own power cord. If it's powered by the USB port then your going to have issues.
    Hope it helps
    Post the results :-D

  • Can't get Contacts/Calendar to transfer from iPod Touch to iPhone 3Gs

Just got the new iPhone 3Gs, and I have an iPod Touch (1st gen). I chose to sync manually because I didn't want my son's apps on my iPhone, but when I tried to sync my contacts and calendar from the iTouch to the iPhone, I get no contacts. How can I transfer my contacts and calendar from my iTouch to my iPhone? Thanks!

You need to sync them from iTunes on your computer to your phone
In iTunes on your computer click on tones in left column and make sure your ringtones are there.  Plug in your phone to computer with USB cable.  Click on phone name I left column. Click on the tone tab on the right of iTunes screen and then select sync all tones and then click on apply or sync at the bottom right of iTunes screen

When I try to update my iPhone 3GS through iTunes from 4.0.1 it gives the exact same message. "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version"
    Please advise.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me. My phone is brand new, so the fact that I can't activate it due to this problem is really frustrating. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times, followed apple's instructions in its problem solvers guide...nothing seems to work. I've messed around with the drivers a bit too, with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
Go to the Event Viewer (Control Panel || Administrative Tools || Event Viewer) and look under Windows Logs || Application. Do you see any Bonjour errors? Since Windows 7 recognizes the camera part of the iPhone (nicely done Win7 integration!) Microsoft is probably not the culprit here.
Uninstall/reinstall iTunes is part of the process, but you also have to make sure you uninstall all the other components Apple installs (Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour for Windows, QuickTime), do a reboot, and then install everything from scratch. That may fix the problem.
This is exactly what an Apple guy talked me through over the phone. (I think I even uninstalled Apple Software Updater) I had a similar problem with the iPad on Win7 x64 - it was Bonjour that is the culprit. The x64 flavor of Bonjour for Windows is not as stable as the 32-bit version.
But everything has been golden for me since the reinstall...
    Give that a try.
Then if not, you could start looking to see if there is another ZeroConf/SSDP provider that is conflicting with Apple's somehow.
