Iphone 3GS times out before completing new update

every time I try to update my iphone 3GS with new update it times out? How can I fix that?

Have you disabled ALL firewall, antivirus and antispyware programs?

My iphone/itunes just did the complete new update with Icloud but the icloud icon doesn't show up anywhere on the iphone or my computer even though the install said it is all done and complete.

The Itunes and Iphone just did the complete new update addiing on Icloud and new applications. After all was done and it said all was completed - the Icloud icon is not on my iphone screen anywhere nor is it on my computer after I did go to the control panel and set up. I tried repairing the download and it said all was fine. What needs to be done to get this all to work.

Thanks for the reply. I did think that could be the case but then other books would also show up as apps on phone but not counted as an app. Maybe book apps downloaded from the app store work in this way whereas books bought from the ibooks app show in ibooks and not as apps.
I guess that would make sense, it must be because they are books but downloaded from the app store rather than the book store so they are visible as an app but don't actually get counted as an app.
Would you think that's the case too?

Try connecting to iTunes and the computer and update that way. See if that cures your timeout issue. I am used to seeing timeouts with a USB connection rather than doing it OTA.

The 3GS is not listed in the supported list for iOS7. Unless Apple comes out with a major bug fix, 6.1.3 will likely be the last update for it.

In the past when I have updated successfully, the spinning circle would show me an indicator of time left on the update. I no longer have this Indicator. The circle just spins and times out and nothing happens. I've reset the iPad in the settings menu, reset the router, logged in and out of Apple id, powered ithe iPad off and on, and tried a couple other "fixes" that I've read online. So far no luck. How much free space do you have? If it is low, installers may not be able to run properly.

Your iPhone was "unofficially" unlocked by some means to work with a different carrier. Now that you have updated it has relocked to the original carrier. If you do not know who the original carrier was you will need to call AppleCare and give them the model and serial number of your iPhone. Then you will need to contact that carrier to see if they have a process to unlock the phone and if you qualify.

I tryed to sync and update my Iphone 3GS to my macbook computer. In doing so, I think I pressed start as a new phone and now I dont have a phone please help!

Go to iTunes/Settings/Devices and see if there is still a backup from the time before you synced the phone.
If yes, use it to restore from: Backing Up, updating, and restoring your iPhone and iPod touch software
If you're running TimeMachine as well, restore the iTunes backup folder, located here:
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:

Downloaded iOS 6 onto my iPhone 3GS. Can't download new apps but I can update apps??

Since updating my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6 yesterday I haven't been able to download new apps. I can still update apps, but when I try downloading a new app I put in my password when prompted, it says installing for a few moments and the loading bar appears. But it never starts to load (no blue in the install bar) and then just stops and the app is displaying as if I've never installed it. Anyone else had this and does anykne know how to fix it?

Mac App Store works fine for buying/installing new software, but times out when looking for updates. Help?

I just got a (lightly) used Mac Mini as a second computer (2010 model). Logged into Mac App Store with my Apple ID and tried to check for updates...received "An error has occurred - The request timed out" message. Was able to go to the main App Store page and download/install OS X Mountain Lion...then tried again and still got the time-out error. Any ideas of what is happening and how to get Software Update to work?

Apps already installed by the former owner of the Mini are associated with that persons Apple iD. You won't be able to update any of those apps using your Apple iD. Those apps will have to be purchased from your Apple ID only.
Apparently the previous owner had not upgraded to Mountain Lion as yet, or you would not have been able to download and install that OS X.
