IPhone 3GS to iPhone 5c Migration

Is it possible to backup my iPhone 3GS (iOS 6) via ITunes and then restore my information onto a new iPhone 5C using the restore function??  My concern is the backup being done on iOS6 and restore being done on iOS7.  Does this method work??

Same problem with me as well.. in addition to other problems (like error -54, other missing data etc)
Forums all over the net are full of such problems being reported with ios 5 upgrades..
This is the first time in 2.5 years of having an iPhone that I have had an issue with an upgrade...But its getting very frustrating...
iTunes shows 11 GB of audio... nothing shows on iPhone...
Isnt anyone at Apple reading these messages all over the net???
Its been a week since releasing iOS5 but there is not even a hint of any resolution coming from apple
Steve - Apple is already missing you

  • I can not synchro. Notes with Iphone 3GS since I have migrated to a macbook pro with OS 10.8. Can you help

IPhone: My IPhone 3GS is with iOS 5.1.1. . I have activated ICloud for Notes (And location of my IPhone only). My Notes are subsequently classified in two groups "ICloud" and "My IPhone".
Macbook pro: I do not succeed to activate ICloud for Notes on my macbook pro with OS 10.8.. WHen I tip on Notes for its activation with ICloud have a message that everytimes tells me - after several seconds - to try later !
I generally synchronize both via ITunes (wifi). There is no longuer any option to synchronize Notes.
Subsequently I can no longuer synchronize my Notes. Could you help me ? Is there any other way than by using ICloud (which I am not so much a fun) ?
    Thanks

Even today, 21st Century and all, printing on Unix systems can be somewhat of a black art, and every so often a gremlin or two crawl out of the woodwork. Purging all can make sure no damaged pointers or corrupted caches linger on to make life miserable.
    Glad you're peachy now.

  • Iphone and migrating between laptops

ive just bought a 2.5 / 17" macbook pro. My iphone currently syncs to my old macbook and an external drive for music. Can i simply hook up to the new laptop and continue use or will i end up with a wiped iphone! any pointers greatly appreciated!
ps can i move between laptops if needed?

    One thing that might work.
If the media on the iphone was purchased from the itunes store, this like might help.

If you want to transfer your complete itunes library and still have access to the older computer, this link might help.

  • HT201386 iPhone 5 64G did not ask me to migrate iPhotos?

The article about how to migrate iPhoto to Photos on iOS8 mentions two things:
It will ask you to migrate every time you open iPhoto until you migrate"Tap Migrate to start the migration process. If you choose Cancel, the dialog is dismissed, but will again appear the next time you tap the iPhoto icon."
It assumes that iPhoto and Photos co-exist."Important: Do not delete iPhoto from your device until after you've successfully migrated your data or it won't be possible to migrate your data."
Here's the problem in two parts:
I was never asked to migrate after upgrade to 8, or the other two upgrades finally ending in 8.1
There is no longer an iPhoto app on my iPhone to migrate
    iPhone information:
    iPhone 5 64GB White & Silver (GSM) Unlocked (MD643C/A)
    iOS: 8.1 (12B411)
Apple A6, dual core, 1300 MHz
    MacBook Pro
    OS: Yosemite 10.10
Photo all: iPhoto (not Photos as on my iPhone
iPhoto on my iPhone was entirely replaced by Photos - same icon, some location in my apps organization. It doesn't appear that Photos was added as a separate app. When I look at the apps on my iPhone in the App Store or anywhere under Settings, it doesn't show that iPhoto still exists in the list, as if it had been deleted like other apps. This leads me to believe the Photos entirely replaced iPhoto without asking me to migrate.
Also, all iPhone photos I've taken since upgrading to 8.1 only appear on my MacBook Pro through the Photo Stream. I do not get prompted to add the newer photos at all, even as duplicates, no new events are created. It's still called iPhotos on my Mac, running Yosemite 10.10.
Some apps, like Facebook, also don't recognize these newer photos. The Google+ app does. I know those apps are independent of Apple, but obviously they look at the photos on my iPhone differently.

Actually, your bank may be able to help. The information that you enter into iTunes account regarding your credit card have to match the bank exactly. To be honest, it isn't iTunes that is refusing, it is your bank that is refusing it. So, I would believe you are not entering something correctly. Make sure your name, your address, everything matches exactly to what you are entering into iTunes account. Street does not match St, etc. If your card has your middle initial and you do not enter it, it will not work. The bank that issued the card should be able to tell why it is being refused.

  • How to merge two Apple accounts by migration

    Hello to you all
My question relates about merging two apple accounts.
Having two accounts is an issue (for instance when you start setting up Family sharing, or trying to get phone calls on your Mac)
As we know, merging two accounts is alas (still ?) not possible.
But it should be possible to address the issue it my migrating data.
As many people, I have two accounts:
Account A: [email protected], with all my purchases (iTunes, apps, machines)
Account B: [email protected], with my calendar, contacts, bookmarks, photos...
The best possible option seems to keep account A:
    - Transfer the data from B to A
    - Possibly transferring the [email protected] address into A
    - Close B
    About the data transfer:
    - Transferring iCloud documents is easy (using the Finder)
    - Transferring contacts, events bookmarks is also easy as they can be exported (ex .VCF or html)
    - Transferring Notes can be done by moving the notes from the iCloud list to the On my Mac List
    - Transferring Passwords and Photostreams is difficult (No Export solution for KeyChains, No way to transfer ownership of a photo stream)
    - I do not know yet about transferring the iCloud email address [email protected] into the [email protected]
    So my questions are:
    1) Do you have any idea about transferring Passwords in KeyChain from one iCloud account to another ?
    2) Do you have any idea about transferring ownership of a photo stream to one iCloud account to another ?
    3) Do you have any idea about the email address transfer
    4) Do you have any other way to do this ?
    Thanks for your attention
    Kind regards

The easiest thing to do would be to use an iOS device, such as your iPhone to migrate the data from one account to the other.  You can go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign out of account B, choose Keep on My iPhone and provide your password when prompted, then sign back in using ID A to create a new iCloud account and choose Merge when prompted to upload the data.  This will not migrate notes, which as you said, can be dragged and dropped between accounts on your Mac.
This will also not move your existing iCloud email account.  You cannot move an iCloud email account to a new iCloud account.  You would either have to switch to the new @icloud.com email account that goes with your new iCloud account, or continue to use the existing email account as a "secondary account"  To do this, you would go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud on your iOS devices (and System Preferences>Internet Accounts>iCloud on your Mac), sign back into account B and turn on Mail.  Just be aware that, at least on an iOS device, this would not be push email as push is only supported in the primary iCloud account.
Photo stream cannot be moved between accounts either, not can it be enabled in a secondary account.  If you want to keep your photo stream photos you'll have to either save them to your device, or add them to a shared album before signing out of the existing account (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99).  Another option would be to import them to your iPhoto events, then add them back to your new photo stream using iPhoto when you sign into the new iCloud account on your Mac.
For iCloud keychain, I believe you can turn it off iCloud keychain and you will be given an option to keep a copy of any saved passwords and credit card information on your device.  Then set up iCloud keychain again once you are signed into your new iCloud account.

  • Migrating Tiger User Account

I am migrating a user account from an old Intel iMac to a fairly recent MacBook Pro. The iMac is running 10.4.11 and the MBP is running 10.5.2.
When I try to T-Boot the iMac onto the MBP the Firewire logo appears on the iMac screen but is very jerky and staggered. The disk never mounts on the MBP's desktop and Migration Assistant cannot see it.
When I T-Boot the old iMac to another machine running Tiger, it pops right up.
Is this some way of telling me that I cannot migrate Tiger User Accounts to Leopard?
    Thanks
    Sean

You're making things much more difficult than they have to be. Don't bother trying to use your iPhone to migrate your data. Just backup address book and ical, then import those into the new ones. Copy the iTunes library and have done with it.
Sync to iPhone was never intended to be a 2 way street.
I can understand not wanting to bring old junk with you when it comes to migrating your old user account and all the preference files and the like, but in the time it took you to try to find a way to get things moved via your phone, you could have done it manually.

  • Migrating from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4 * Apps disappering

I have an iPhone 3GS with OS4. Most of my apps works ok, but I some need upgrading to work properly under OS4. So I wait patently.
    But I have another problem:
I have bought an iPhone4 and try to migrate from the 3GS.
But it seems that there are Apps disappering on the way, and I would like to know how to fix it.
    My prosedure is like this:
    Full backup of the 3GS
Recovery of the same backup to my IPhone4
.. and som of my apps are gone.
I have used hours to put stuff into my Apps and hate to lose it all..
So currently I keep on using my 3GS.. Would like to move permanently to my new phone! Hope someone can help.
    PS! IT is not jailbroken.
Have the same version of OS4.02 on both phones.

After you restore from backup, you MUST sync to restore your itunes content, which is selected under the various tabs in itunes, just like you did for your 3GS. Itunes content is NOT included in the iphone backup.

  • Migrating data from Lose It, iPhone 3G to 3GS

Has anyone been successful in migrating their "Lost It" data from the iPhone 3G to the new 3GS? Can you see the data on your PC to make sure it was backed up sucessfully? I cannot see it in iTunes and it has not transferred over.

Yes I did this for my wife from the 2G to 3G with no problems at all...Just make sure you sync the phone prior to the upgrade and then restore the new phone from the backup that was saved before you swapped phones..she lost no data...

  • Why can't I migrate from an iPhone 3GS to a 4GS using iCloud Backup/Restore?? (Says incompatible.)

Why can't I -simply- migrate from an iPhone 3GS to a 4GS using iCloud Backup/Restore??
(The 4GS says it's incompatible with 3GS iCloud Backups and so it cannot restore them.)
I've had to use a computer with iTunes, but surely iCloud can be used fior this?

You need to update your 4 to newer software to restore from icloud back up, until then you will get incompatible message. So steps are - set up your iphone 4 as new. Update. Erase. Restore from cloud backup. If you update does not take long you should be all set within an hour.

  • I am migrating from Iphone 3g to iphone 3gs.

I reset the new 3gs and restored the lastest backup from my 3g iphone but after it finished. Itunes doesn't allow me to sync. I can see the device but if I right click on it, the only option it gives is to eject the new phone.
Do you know what to do?

isn't there a sync button at the bottom right?

  • Hello, migration to iCloud is impossible because updating iPhone 3GS from v 3.1.2 to v 5.0 fails

    Hello,
    Here is my configuration
    iPhone 3 GS 16 Go, iOS v 3.1.2
    Airbook Mac OS X v10.6.8
    MobileMe account since 2009
    (all in French)
    Here is the problem
I am trying to migrate from MobileMe to iCloud. Several trials to update the iPhone with iTunes to v5 however failed. Safeguarding iPhone content takes > 6 hours and blocks at about 10 %. Syncing iPhone and Mac is no problem. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Hello Boris,
    >> It implies that I can do an export of my app from the old env (Application Builder -> Export Application) and import it into my new env (Application Builder -> Import Application) and expect everything to work. Is my understanding correct?
Your understanding is almost correct. APEX application is not only the “source code” of the application, which you get upon exporting the application from your original APEX engine. You also need all the supporting objects of the application, on the database level – tables, sequences, stored procedures, and every other database resources your application is using. Those will not be included in the APEX application export file.
After you duplicate the APEX database environment (like the schema that was associated with the APEX workspace), you can import the application, and it all should work just fine.
    Regards,
    Arie.

  • Migration process 3gs to iPhone 4s?

Hi - am upgrading to iPhone 4S from 3GS, and wondered where I could find the complete procedure so I don'

None that I'm aware of.  The process is pretty simple...
Connect your 3GS and use File > Transfer Purchases to make sure you've got everything in iTunes
    Backup/Sync your 3GS
Connect your 4S and Restore it.  When prompted, choose to install your backup.
Your 4S should have everything you had on your 3GS, i.e. texts, mail settings, apps and app data, music, videos, etc.
IMO, if you don't care about mail settings, texts and app data (i.e. saved games), Restore as new, i.e. don't install your backup.  You'll then need to setup your email, reinstall your apps and resync your iTunes library.  I believe this gives you the best chance at a perfectly working device, i.e. you don't bring anything over from the old one. Note that this can always be done after restoring with your backup if that doesn't work out.
