IPhone 3gs turns off while having 60-80% battery

hello, iphone 3gs turns off while there is enough battery to be consumed. Round about 60 to 80 percent battery is more enough to keep alive an iphone for a whole day long. what suggestion you recommend, help asap......

You could try to disconnect and after a few minutes reconnect the battery. That theoretically resets the phone BIOS and is supposed to help regarding the reboot issue (see post by NIKKOH007) http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2471090&start=2055&tstart=30
Or replace the battery altogether with a newer, iOS 4 compatible battery. At iFixit.com they have come to the conclusion that not all batteries in the 3GS are necessarily iOS4.x compatible or a battery defect may be exposed after updating.

  • IPhone 3Gs Turn OFF suddenly and Critical

My iPhone suddenly turn off while the battery is recharged full condition.
it's turn off suddenly without nothing and i tried to turn on (hold on the power button) but doesn't work. As long was turn off the body of iPhone became hot the temperature i afraid to be exploding like a boom because temperature almost 40 C.
i bought it new from legal provider mobile since february 2010. yes warranty but how's happen?
Thank you for helping and thread this message.

That just happened to me today. I found the solution in the discussions....
Press the sleep button (aka power button) and the home button for 5-15 seconds (it took mine 12 seconds). The Apple logo appeared...took about one or two full minutes to boot up, and then my home screen appeared as usual. No data loss at all.
The post where I read this said to ignore the slider that comes up after you press the sleep and home buttons. However, when I did it, no slider appeared.

  • My iPhone 3GS turned off suddenly

My iPhone 3GS turned off suddenly and when i switched it on it give me that there is no battery then when i charge it i fined that the battery between 60% to 30% i have tried to restore it but the same problem came out
i bought my iPhone 3GS since Apr 2010

This sounds like the same problem i'm having.  I have to upgrade my os to most current.  Really don't want to do a restore.  I've read another post from someone who's problem seemed the same as mine and it was actually the battery.  After having battery replaced, it worked fine.  Whatever the problem actually is, I hope it won't cost a lot to fix.

  • HT1430 my iphone 3gs turned off and on abruptly?

my iphone 3gs turned off and on abruptly?

Try holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button at the same time,
Continue to hold both down until you see the Apple Logo on the screen. Once you see the Apple Logo on the screen let go of both buttons and allow the iPhone to reset.
    Hope this helps

  • 3GS turns off while calling.

My new iPhone continues to turn off while I am in the middle of phone calls. It then after my methodical tapping on the screen and the home button it turns back on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart... Reset... Restore...
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • Why my iphone 5 turns off  while recording videos ???

please help !!!!! i m extreamly disappointed in apple ;[

    Hello Dhananjay,
I recommend steps 1, 3 and 5 of the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant found here http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/.
If you get to step 3, then I suggest closing all the apps. Here is step one to get you started
    Restart iPhone
To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPhone not responding? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Can't restore iPhone after turning off while doing the iOS 8.0.2 update

I wanted to do the iOS 8.0.2 update. This didn't work and my iPhone 5 turned off. Now it says that I have to connect ti iTunes. I tried to restore it but it always says that a mistake appeared. Now i can't use my iPhone anymore and i don't know what to do

it took me 5 hours to get iTunes to sort my phone out!!
I have an iphone4 I updated to iOS8.2 this ruined my phone. The bloke in Apple store told me to reset my phone. Whilst it was in the reset mode it froze meaning it was a brick! I couldn't get rid of the apple logo and iTunes was not recognising my phone!!
I changed the USB ports and that appeared to work. BUT once my phone was on it did not ask if I wanted to restore from icloud ...... So I've lost all my settings and text and have no clue how to get them back. My iPhone is like new, which is rubbish coz it took me over a year to get it how I liked it!!

  • Iphone 3gs turns off

hello my problem is that my iphone 3gs is just turning off even though its 76% or 56% percent charged i went to the phone store and restored it and then synced it to my mac as a new phone but its still turning off.i even deleted some music to see has anyone else had this problem?

I am having the same issue as well.
My 3GS would be charged to full (according to the battery indicator), but it would shuts off randomly whenever I use the application or browse the internet. I can't turn it back on and it would show a low-battery sign even though the battery life is still at more than 50% when it shuts off. Hard reboot dont even solve the problem, and the only way to turn it back on is to plug it into a charger.. even then, the phone would show that the battery is at whatever percentage when it was turned off (more than 50%). I bought the phone about 50 days ago and it was brand new out of the box, I never experienced this problem up until I upgraded to IOS4 and tried to download a game called Mancala, the download failed and the phone was frozen.. and then this problem started to show itself. I tried restoring the phone twice and even wiped off everything inside and start it off as a new phone, but the problem still persists.
Anyone know if the phone is hardware defective or is it the IOS4?
    Thanks
    Edit
Another note, when I plug it into the charger, the battery indicator would go from 50% to 100% in less than an hour. What could that be?

  • Iphone 3Gs turns off by itself.

I have an iphone 3Gs. It recently started turning off by itself. I could be listening to music, making a call, on the interenet, or whatever. It turns off with the charger in or out. Most of the time it turns back on right after. Sometimes i will have to maually turn it on. It takes almost 3 minutes to turn back on. Then it will stay on from anywhere between 3 and 30 minutes before it turns back off. It also turns off sometimes when it is shook. Thats only somethimes though. I really need a way to fix this. Please if anyone has any ideas, post them here. Thank you

I'm having the EXACT same problem--and it's been recent--it never used to do this! I'm usually out running with iTunes and RunKeeper both running, and...it just shuts off. But usually when I try and restart it, nothing happens, though a few times it will restart and then shut down again.Once it happens my run is shot.
Wouldn't surprise me to learn that this is from a recent IOS patch...maybe to force us to upgrade...wouldn't be the first time that a company has done something like this, and Apple releasing IOS 6 with Apple Maps just goes to show that Apple has some real shortcomings since Steve died.

  • My iphone 3gs turns off within 6-7 minutes of call

I am having iphone 3gs. I have upgraded it to ios 4.2  one year back. But since last 3-4 months, my iphone turns off during call specially when call goes beyond 6-7 minutes. Please help me..... as it is very frustating.

    try this one ist
go to settings>general>reset>rest all settings phone will turn off and turn on by itself
once the phone is press and hold the home and power button at the same time wait for the apple sign then release the buttons phone will turn off and on
or restore the phone from your back up,before you encounter the problem or restore as a new device

  • IPhone 3GS turns off randomly.

I happen to have an almost 2 year old iPhone 3GS that I once bought brand new and it has this problem that when I fully charge it, it doesn't even drain down to 50% before it gets stuck, dims the display, slowly fades out with black stripes and all, turns off and never gets back on. Unless I put it on charge again, which takes about 2 hours to get turned back on again. I've also noted it turns off on special occasions like when I take photos or type someone a message.
And just to let you know, I've already restored it once. So, what do you all think could be the problem?

These features are most common due to faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

  • Iphone 3GS turns off and goes dead after i make or receive a call.

Hi i bought a Iphone 3Gs unlocked from a Grainger Games store in liverpool two days ago. I live in Ireland so returning would be hard but possible. I have charged the phone for 9 hours and it said 100 % charge but any time i make or receive a call it powers off and wont turn on until i charge it again. When i do charge it, it goes back to saying the percentage it was before it turned off .
Is there a way to fix this problem? Does it need a new battery or is it a problem with the phones hardware?
I would rather not have to return it but if i have to i will .
Can anyone help with this please.
    Thanks.

    It needs a new battery.

  • My iphone 3gs turns off frequency by itself after i updated to 4.3.1

My problem is after I updated my iphone 3gs to 4.3 version it turns off automatically within 2.3 minutes even with full battery and I have to press home and power key to turn it on. But weird thing is that if I use my iphone to play games or listen to music or charge then the iphone won’t turn it off. I tried reset, recover and it won’t work .I also tried to downgrade but I don’t have a backup. Can anyone help?

I don't know what you mean by "recover" and you can't downgrade the iOS. You need to do the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide:
    Reset phone
Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
Restore phone in iTunes as new, without using a backup
If restoring as new doesn't help, you had a hardware failure during the update.
