Iphone 3gs updated and now won't activate

Recently got iphone 3gs second hand and when I updated it on itunes via computer, it says it can't be activated because the 'server is temporarily unavailable' and on itunes on the computer it says the sim cant be recognised.. What do I do? Tried updating through wifi too, also says server isn't available.

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

iMessage and FaceTime went down yesterday for some people. Mine is still down. My iMessage is saying the same thing about being activated. Sounds like you are still down too. Ignore the status page that says everything is fine - it lies.

  • IPhone 3GS - Installed Software Now Won't Sync Photos

At the weekend I accepted the latest iPhone software update and installed it on my 3GS. I am now having problems Syncing. It does part of the Sync then stops and my Mac has a message about "unfound files" and the phone says "some hi-res images haven't been transferred". It's also wiped all of the photos on my iPhone. When I look at photos, albums, etc it's black/blank. I've tried to re-sync 3 or 4 times and tried all manual options. But no luck.
    Any adivce?
    Thank you.

    Nevermind... wrong thread. Sorry.

  • HT201441 i cant find the person who sold this iphone to me, and now i cant activate it

i cant find the person who sold my iphone 5 to me
now i cant activate it because it is still activated to his apple id

You have no options but to find the previous owner.  The Activation Lock is an Anti-theft protection that cannot be bypassed, not even Apple.  If you cannot find the previous owner, turn it in to the police as it is likely to be stolen property.

  • IPod tough quit during update and now won't turn on or sync up

I was doing the recommened os6 update on my daughters IPOD touch last night and during the update it went to a light blue screen and now it won't do anything.  When I hook it up to the computer it won't turn on it and it doesn't show up on itunes.  I did the power/home button reboot and it still comes up with a blue screen.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I was trying to shut my iphone 3gs off and now it is frozen in shutdown mode. How to I get it to shut down?

I was trying to shut off my iphone 3gs and now it is stuck in shut down mode. How do I shut it down?

Try to reset by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
After the phone is started again, shut it off as usual.

  • My Ipod updated and now won't work

Pior to this, it was working fine. I connected my Ipod and as usual Itunes sync'd and advised that there was a software update. I updated the software and it installed and now my Ipod won't work. It had a darkened screen with the battery showing, the date on top has changed by skip forward a day, the spoked wheel showing processing is displayed but isn't moving. It seems to be frozen and not responsive to any touch. I tried to reset it as per the website by holding the on/home button for 10secs and it kepted getting locked onto the apple logo and nothing else. I restored it and it took ages and appeared with the same screen and then it seemed to come good. Except all my music and photos are gone and its now frozen on the music screen with no options, just a white screen. It chimes like its on the charger and displays the charging icon on the top, even when its not plugged in. It won't reset again either (home/on) it's just staying on that screen.
I only just got it in Sept 10 so its only four months old and this only started happening after the update to 4.2.1. What's going on?

    Welcome to the discussions,
try to connect in recovery mode, shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Then restore "as new ipod" without using the last backup to restore your data and settings from, it may contain corrupt data.

  • My photos were updated and now won't open, My photos were updated and now won't open

I loaded photos and the message popped up to upgrade them in order to save them.  I hit "ok", and now the library won't open with the message to use the latest version.  I currently have 8.1.2.  Is there a newer version that works with OS 10.6.8 ?  If so where do I find it ? If not, how do I open the library?
      Thanks.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run  Option #4 to rebuild the database
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
    or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • MY iPhone turned off and now won't turn back on

so at first it would keep showing me to slide to show down or cancel
then would keep turning the light on
the it turned off and wont turn back on
i tried (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears) and non is happening ? any ideas

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • My iPhone 5 has reset itself and now won't activate..tried also activating through iTunes but says try again later... I desperately need to use my phone!!! Help appreciated x

It keeps saying searching for signal too....

    According to this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error21
Error 21- These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
The error on the Mac is odd though. 2100 is not in the article. What version of the Mac Operating system are you running?

  • IPhone 5s, full reset, now won't activate due to activation server being temporarily unavailable

Did "erase all content and settings" on my iPhone 5s yesterday, due to signal being extremely intermittent, came to try starting it up again, with the view of just putting everything straight back on from iCloud, and it wont activate, been trying for 12 hours now, and just says "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable"
I have tried numerous times over different WiFi networks, and also by connecting to iTunes... any help.. at all?
