Iphone 3GS upgrade but not all the way

I know i can upgrade my iphone 3gs (currently running 3.1.3) all the way to 6.1...
But can I just upgrade part way to 5.1.1?
My friends upgraded theirs recently from 5.1.1 to 6.1 and all they do is complain. 5.1.1 is nice and I would like to upgrade just part way.

No. It isn't possible to update a device other than a third generation iPod touch or original iPad only to 5.1.1, and it's only possible for those devices because they're incapable of iOS 6.

If these do not resolve the issue or if you are not comfortable with proceeding through these steps then take your Mac to an Apple store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Ios 6 is not available for all iphones. Original Iphone and iphone 3 are not supported.

This is common for most any device/computer. Not all iphone/computer/device models can handle all of the new features. Like any device, hardware is limited and cannot always support all new features and software.

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.

I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

I currently am running 3.1 but would like to update it to the 4.1 version (not the latest 4.3 version). How do I do this? I have already gone online and downloaded the 4.1 firmware for iPhone 3G but not sure how to install it. I unzipped the file then tried to do the Shift>Update trick but none of the downloaded files could be selected. Am I doing something wrong?

There is no official way to do what you want, that's why the files can't be selected. iOS 4.2.1 is the last officially signed firmware available for your phone. If you want to install any other firmware you'll have to go elsewhere for instructions as such cannot be discussed here, per this forum's terms of use, sorry.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your question. iTunes the software is a free download. Do you mean you bought a subscription to iTunes Match? If so, what do you mean that your music did not transfer to your second computer. Please describe the issue in as much detail as possible so we can better help you.

It sounds like you are wanting to download an album that you pre ordered, not all the songs are downloading. First, use this section of the following article to see if the tracks download:

If you enabled the option to automatically download prepurchased content in iTunes, then your pre-ordered content may already be in your library. Airport extreme will connect to some iPhones and iPads, but not all, and will not connect to MacBooks.

Have you done a full restart of the network in correct order?
Shut down everything.. OFF not standby.
Power on in order.
Modem.. wait 2min
Router.. (Extreme??) wait 2min
Macbook.. Only the Macbook.. do restart anything else yet.

No luck reset the Extreme to factory and redo the setup.. this time use all short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. Bonus for names <10 characters.
Use passwords with the same rules.. only can be 8-20 characters.. mixed case and numbers.

SSO to AD, but also all the way through to MS SQL db

Here's what I'd like to be able to do:
User logs into InfoView (preferably without prompting, if using IE.)
They're authenticated to Active Directory.
At database connection time in the Universe, the AD credentials are used and passed to SQL Server as the login.
I think this is doable, but the key thing I'm missing is: Tomcat or IIS? Or either?
Tomcat/JSP seems like the better overall app server choice, based upon other posts here. But can you set up SSO all the way to the database login using Tomcat, or is IIS required?

Any supported web server can be used for this. KB 1261835 (which alsoi links to the SP3 version if you have that) will get you started.
On the SSO to the DB the problem has always been that it only work for on-demand and not scheduling as there is no user logged in at schedule time to verify credentials and our product does not cache them. This resuklts in having to maintain 2 different security models (1 for on demand reporting based on AD accounts at the SQL level) and (1 based on SQL accounts for scheduling). Due to this limitation most customers have elected to only use SQL accounts for both and not have SSO to the DB for on demand.

Firefox opens web pages but not all the data or pictures.

Firefox 22.0 opens web pages slowly, it takes up to 30 seconds to load and then not all the pictures and data is loaded or it times out. If I hit the reload button, everything loads OK. This happens on mant sites, not just a few.
I use Google Chrome as my primary browser, and it is quite fast. My internet connection is commercial and it is OMG fast. I would like to replace Google Chrome( I hate being tracked), but at this point, the Firefox is just too slow.
Please advise how to correct these issues.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Make sure that Firefox is fully trusted in your security software.
You can check for problems with preferences and rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value.

When I export a playlist and then open in excel, do whatever sorting I want, I then save the file and reimport into itunes but not all the songs are there. It appears to be from "comma's" in the song name. Any solutions?

I see songs such as "Monday, Monday" or "Paint It, Black" or even the artist name such as "Fireballs, with Jimmy Gilmer" which have comma's in them, being a problem when I try to do the following:
1. Export a playlist which contains songs which are all there and play fine, but some have comma's in the title such as listed above.
2. I then open that file in Excel and bring it in as a Tab-delimited file. Everything lays out fine, and all the songs are thing (including those with comma's).
3. I then sort the varoius fields I want (which I can't do in i-tunes because i-tunes won't sort it properly), and resave the file as a newly named file, which is also a .txt file.
4. I then import that playlist into my itunes. It is exactly the same songs that I just had exported but i-tunes says some of the songs can't be found.
I have traced this problem to comma's in the file name of the song such as listed above. There must be a solution to this either as the file is opened in excel or in how it's saved or some other solution short of having to rename song/artists without using comma's.

The additional problem is the file name of the song itself. Even if I were able to delete the commas or replace with a space for example, changing the file name would result in itunes not being able to find the file. I would have to go through each file (out of about 15,000+ songs) to find any that have titles such as described in this thread and change not only the song and artist in the fields, but changing the mp3 file itself.
I fear that I am really pretty much going to have to start with a list of songs that have no comma and then do a file compare to find those songs with commas and then just physically moving them into a new playlist I'm trying to create, but this is a royal pain as I want to be able to create a variety of playlists based on these chart dates/peak positions.
I'm trying to sort the songs in this manner: I use different fields in itunes so that I can put the "peak position" of each song based on Billboard charts, as well as the date the peak position was acheived. I use the "comment box" for that. I use the "grouping" field for my peak position.
So I end up with something like "10/14/1980" in the comment box as the peak position for a song which is in the grouping field, and so forth. If I try to sort the comments column in itunes for example, it won't sort properly. If I sort the Grouping field, it will bring up all the "1's", but that's followed by "10", 11, ...19, then "2", etc. This is why I want to export the playlist and sort it as I want, and then reimport the playlist into itunes.
What I'm ultimately trying to achieve is a year-by-year peak position playlist so that I end up with every #1 song (in this case) from, say, January 1st 1980 and then every #1 song in sequential order for the rest of the year falls in line. I have chart position dates from 1955 through 1999. I have entered in all the data from Billboard books I own so I can really create some amazing playlists, but these commas are problematic. Had I known this ahead of time I would have made "Monday, Monday" as "Monday Monday" and not included commas, but it's too late for that.
Any suggestions?
