IPhone 3GS V4.3.3 - Passcode Lock will not turn off

Ok, first off, I have never intentionnally turned on my Passcode Lock... As the story goes, I was dead asleep the other day and got a text, in the process of trying to get to the text while groggy and half asleep, my phone asked me to enter a passcode, I entered my usual 4 digit code for most things twice, got to the text replied and went back to sleep.  Now, I cannot turn off my Passcode Lock!!!
When I go to Settings, Passcode Lock (shows On), enter my passcode, then on the screen the Turn Passcode Off is greyed out and cannot be selected.  Can someone tell me what I have done to make it where I cannot turn off the Passcode Lock?  Please help!!!

Interesting... I do have an exchange account on my phone and have had it on my phone for 3 years now however, they just did an upgrade on the email server and it happend right about the same time, within a day or so.  For now, I've set it to require the password after every one hour and I will contact my office and ask if that is a new requirement.  Thanks soo much for your help it makes total sense since we handle very sensitive information.

  • Rotation lock will not turn off even though on mute

Hi I accidentally turned on the rotation lock and although I have reclicked mute & restarted several times, it will not unlock/allow me to rotate

In settings you have the option to set orientation lock for the upper right hand side button above the volume control.  You can also choose to use that button as a mute button.  Or, if you double click your home button and swipe your botom apps to the right, there is an orientation lock icon.  You touch it to turn on or turn off........

  • I have an iPod touch 2G and I can't set up a passcode lock. I hit "Turn Passcode on" and then enter the passcode I want. Then it brings me back to the Passcode Lock Screen, NOT turning on my passcode.

I hit "Turn Passcode on" and then enter the passcode I want. Then it brings me back to the Passcode Lock Screen, NOT turning on my passcode. Now this iPod touch is a gift from my family, used before me. I set up my iTunes account, but when i view my Apple account it's not showing up. Is this the reason my iPod isnt working? Please help.

    The users guide says:
    Passcode Lock
By default, iPod touch doesn’t require you to enter a passcode to unlock it.
Set a passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock and enter a 4-digit passcode, then enter the passcode again to verify it. iPod touch then requires you to enter the passcode to unlock it or to display the passcode lock settings.
Turn passcode lock off: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Turn Passcode Off, then enter your passcode again.
Change the passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Change Passcode. Enter your passcode again, then enter and reenter your new passcode.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • My iphone will not turn off

I push the button on my new iPhone but it will not turn off.  Any suggestions?

It might be a technical fault and I'd reccomend to visit Genius bar or find a repair shop.
Meanwhile, if you still want to turn off/on your screen as a temporary solution:
    1. Go to settings
    2. General
    3. Accessibility
    4. AssistiveTouch and turn it on (you should find a small square with a circle inside on your screen now)
    5. Tap this small square to open AssistiveTouch menu
    6. Tap Device and then Lock Screen
You should be able to turn off the screen now.

  • IPhone will not turn off.

My iPhone will not turn off. I did a restore about a week ago to repair the problem following which the phone would turn off albeit with some difficulty: I had to hold the top button down and not merely click it before the phone turned off but not so long that I would get the shut-down screen.
Now, however, even after doing another restore, the iPhone will simply not turn off, no matter how long I hold down the top button. Nor do I ever get the shut-down screen. I've had to turn on the auto-lock option so that while I'm carrying the phone around it does not randomly dial or go online.
I'm guessing this might be a hardware failure but wanted to check first to see if anyone else has run into this problem.

If it's doing that after a restore, it more than likely issue on your logic board. I would contact Apple and get it serviced.

  • My iphone 4 will not turn off... how can I fix this?

I went to turn off my iphone 4 and it will not turn off... it is just stuck on the circle thing it does when shutting down????  What's wrong with it?

Try holding down both the top and home buttons a the same time until it restarts- that probably would do it.

I have an iPhone 4, the flash will not turn off.  What can i do?  Flash is already off on camera and i deleted the flashligth app.

Try Hard Reset -> Hold down these two buttons at the same time [Sleep/Wake & Home] the moment you see the Apple Logo 'release those buttons' allow device to reset
    If still no resolution -
    Restore
[back up information either via iTunes or iCloud if no recent one has been done]
Erase All Content an Settings - FIRST Set up As New - Test Camera Flash
Works? Great! - restore back up
[NOTE - if the flash does not respond again after restoring back up then sorry will have to Erase All Content and Settings Again and then the best part 'Set up As New and manually enter data/information']
If the first time done and after setting up as new and still not resolved - then Id suggest call AppleCare Support or set an appointment up with an Apple Retail Store
    Best of luck

My ipod naaIno is stuck in the lock position, my hold switch will not turn off even when I move it.  I have tried restoring it and resetting it and it still comes back on in the hold/locked postion.  It will only play when placed on a docking station and then I cant scroll to pick songs, I can only go to next song using buttons on docking station.

You will need to have the hold switch replaced.
