Iphone 3gs Video calling function

How do I use the video calling function on the 3GS I was told by 02 customer service, that it's below the "call" button under options???????....how do I do this, obviously it needs to be a 3G phone receiving the call, and one that enables video calling....

I don't know about the slacking part. The iPhone's introduction got many cell phone manufacturers off their collective duffs - away from putting out pretty much the same old stuff year after year without seeing significant improvements. Phones in the smart phone category were primarily targeted at the enterprise or business market prior to the iPhone. Sales of phones in the smart phone category to consumers is on a significant rise due to the iPhone, and how many iPhone "killers" have we seen since? A bunch, which is a good thing.
Apple doesn't manufacture different iPhone models. There is one model at a time with the only difference being storage capacity or a black or white backing. Video calling may be used heavily in parts of Europe with a significant number of cell phones sold with the capability, but not so in the U.S. - not yet anyway.
I venture to say we will see this capability with the iPhone at some point. Maybe after LTE (4G) networks get rolled out in many parts of the world. The two largest carriers in the U.S. - Verizon and AT&T are in the process of rolling out an LTE (4G) network which won't be in place extensively for another 2 years or so.

Bluetooth on my IPhone 3GS seems not function properly. How to check and rectify it.

It would help if you explained what you mean when you say it doesn't function properly. What are you attempting to do? What happens when you try? What troubleshooting steps have you already taken?

  • How do I get iPhone 3GS videos to automatically sync t Apple TV?

How can I get the 3Gs video clips automatically to my Apple TV? They seem to just import in to iPhoto, but I'm not sure how to get them from there in to iTunes (Movies) automatically.
Do I need to manually drag them in to iTunes each time I have a new clip?

OK thanks - was just hoping that there'd be a slicker way of doing this.
Like an "automatically import videos into to itunes"-checkbox in iPhoto or something.

  • IPhone 3GS video camera review

http://www.camcorderinfo.com has posted a review of the iPhone's video camera capabilities. This site usually reviews consumer and pro-sumer video cams. The iPhone review is interesting.

Let's see if they can cram a 10x image stabilized zoom lens into this baby
As it is, it pretty much will do what the regular Flip will do at $150 or so. Quite a deal for those who want that capability. I'm sure I will because I have it (my regular bells-and-whistles camcorder never goes anywhere anymore).

  • IPhone 3GS Video Storage?

Does anyone know where the iPhones recorded videos get stored? I can't find them anywhere...

Nope. I just checked the camera roll in the pictures app... Nothing.

  • IPhone 3GS - Video Capture during Phone Call

I just found out that iPhone disables making Videos when I'm on a call.
This really ***** - It lets me taking the photos, but no video option.
It can't be the processing power needed - as this is 3Gs and has lots of power under the hood
I know Video captures Audio as well in the movie - so what - it should still be able to make a video with the voice capture thru the Mic.
This is totally stupid of Apple. Video is a very useful feature and one of the reasons I paid $560 to upgrade and a bad implementation.

I Just ReRead This And It May Seem A Little Confusing. I Am Talking About The iPhone 4 NOT 4S

  • IPhone 3Gs video specifications?

I'm getting an iPhone Friday and am trying to decide between the 16 & 32 Gb versions. I'm not one to take a lot of videos, but I like the ability to take a 2-3 minute of my son and upload it once I get home (without carrying the camcorder). Does anyone know anything about what the resolution will be? How much space can one expect 1 minute to take? These questions will help me decide if the 16Gb will be adequate or not (I have a 16Gb Touch and typically have 3Gb free).

Great idea! Do you happen to have a link to the manual for the 3GS? Oh wait, it isn't out yet. Scratch that "helpful" response.

  • IPhone 3GS Video Playback

My 3GS no longer plays tv shows or movies, that are SD. It syncs fine, and show appears in iPod Video tab, but "This movie could not be played" box appears even for shows I was able to watch a week ago. Any ideas?

    Hi,
I've got something similar, where the picture will freeze for a fraction of a second every 3 seconds or so when watching a film with the Apple Composite cable accessory. Sounds minor but think when the camera pans over a scene and it judders like this - very annoying!
The weird bit: only does it with films (not music videos, nor TV programmes), only shows when playing on a TV through the composite cable (genuine accessory), and all appears fine when watching on iPhone screen itself, or on PC running iTunes. All had been downloaded from iTunes, so can't imagine it's the source material (think all of eight films doing it).
TV out correctly set to widescreen on, and PAL. I had wondered whether it was to do with scan rates, but I have no idea (secretly hoping there's something I've missed and involves ticking a checkbox).

No HD shows at 30 fps, what's the point of using an HD camera then?
Look, AppleTV is over two yeas old.
    It's hardware is pretty basic.
If it was launched today I'm pretty certain it would handle 720p/1080i at a minimum at 30 fps, but it's old technology even for 2007.
It's a good device for what it does, bjut it's looking dated.
I bought my first HD camcorder in 2006, it uses DV tape, and probably seems quaint now, but when AppleTV was released HD was not commonly available to consumers.
Where would you get HD files to play on an AppleTV in 2007? A minority of consumers might have had HD camcorders but that was about it. Even if there was HD-DVD/BluRay availability there was no way to actually officially transfre discs to AppleTV.
DVDs are not HD even if you ripped them in contravention of the DMCA or other regional legislation.
So in essence you had a device that could connect via HDMI/component with an interface that could dislay up to 1080p for menus/photos, but content was not generally available much above SD quality.
The hardware is looking seriously dated now, but that's the way things go with technology/computing.
We need an AppleTv hardware update but until iTunes Store starts offering much more HD I don't think we'll see it as AppleTV hassimply become a window on iTunes store not a general media playback device.
There are far more media box options now, but none I know of has the simplicitty and elegance (I hate to say that as I dislike Take 2.0 meus intensely) that AppleTV has - things move quickly and I'd be delighted for someone to point me at a better alternative.
iTunes store only offered SD titles back then and initially you couldn't purchase in iTunes let alone via AppleTV.

  • Iphone 3gs video volume

i have just bought a 3gs iphone.i dont know much about is feature.
my question is, when i make video it doesnot record volume. i come to know about it when i play video it plays video only no sound comes out.
please advise what i am doing wrong or is there any sound recording setting?
    please advise
    thanks

I restarted the 3GS as noted in other posts. I got marginally better volume on the recording. When playing in Quicktime and Quicktime 7, the volume is low, even when turning the player and computer volumes up. Ear phones help.
When playing the video in VLC Media Player the sound is acceptable - but it displays only Landscape.
I just bought a Joby Gorilla GS that holds the 3GS on its tripod. Cool! The case has a mounting attachment and they supply two additional adhesive clips. It is worth looking at. I have no relationship with any of the parties. I have been looking for a tripod mount for my Nano 5th Gen and my 3GS.

  • Why?  iPhone 3gs videos import with 2005 timestamp?

Let's say I take 3 pictures and 3 videos today. When I come home and import them to iPhoto, the pictures are correctly organized with the current date, but the videos say 2005, Jan 18 (or something).
    Why is this happening?
(Also, my Sony camera imports pics AND videos with the correct time stamp in iPhoto.)
    Thank you.

    Whatheck,
Thank you! Using Image Capture helped me to figure out the problem. Good idea, Whatheck.
I figured out the problem. A couple weeks ago, I decided to change the time/date format from Gregorian MM/DD/YY to Taiwan's YY.MM.DD, where the first year was 1911 (the foundation of the Republic of China--not to be confused with the Communist "People's Republic", which is China and not Taiwan). So, this is year 99 of the ROC. Videos taken with the calendar set to ROC had MM/DD/0099-like timestamps. All I did was switch back the calendar setting from "Republic of China" to "Gregorian", make a test video, and then plug in the phone. All videos taken during the time the phone was set to ROC were imported AGAIN and re-split. Now everything is fine. (Except the original 2005-stamped imports are still there, taking up a little disk space. If I ever have way too little disk space and way too much time, they can easily be removed. Haha.)
I originally preferred to see ROC dates in iCal. Now that I know it messes up videos, I can live with Gregorian dates. I still don't know why only videos were affected by the calendar selection.
    Thanks again, Whatheck.

  • N8 How to Disable Video Calling?

I am unlikely ever to use the "Video call" facility on my N8.
How do I stop the option being presented in the contacts screen alongside Message and Voice Call? I could not see how to remove this option.

I said that Android, Blackberry and iPhone do not support video calling on 3G - which is true. I forgot to add that Windows Phone 7 doesn't either. Google say it's a feature they will add, but it's not there now - and a lot of popular Android phones such as the HTC desire don't have front facing cameras. Facetime isn't standard 3G video calling, it's a proprietary tech that only works iPhone to iPhone, and like you said only works over WiFi.
Basically, Symbian is the only smartphone platform that actually supports 3G video calling. Do you hear the users of other platforms crying out in rage for video calling functionality? No.
Interestingly, there doesn't appear to be statistical information about 3g video calling usage out there, however this conversation on linkedin between communications specialists is quite telling:
