IPhone 3GS with iOS 4 - Mail problems

Hi all,
Since I updated my iPhone 3GS with the lastest software, the iOS4, I've been experiencing problems with Mail: slow connection, the iPhone will freeze every now and then up to several minutes, the Mail app restarts several times, etc.
Is anyone experiencing this issues or is just me?

The issue I have had with te iOS4 is that my phone wont down load email..
I have it set to check for email every 30 min as I do use my iPhone for work purposes and since switching to iOS4 it has stopped getting my mail. For me to get it to restart I have to power the phone down and back up. But then it will only down load what is available and then it stops again until I power down/up next..
Other then that, battery life is greatly decreased! ugh, I thought it was bad before!!

Are you sure your phone has not been unlocked or jailbroken at some time as the same thing happened to me.
I had the phone secondhand and did not know. Updating to IOS 5 locked the phone back to the original service provider which was AT&T in USA and I am in UK.

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5209 might help you. An iPhone 4 can airplay content from apps that support airplay and iTunes but it cannot mirror. If your game does not have airplay in the app you cannot mirror it to the apple TV so I don't know if you can play just the music. You should have no problem playing your iTunes over airplay though.

Unable to restore iPhone 3Gs with iOS 4 (error 1013)

I recently updated my 16GB iPhone 3Gs with iOS 4 (iPhone2,14.0_8A293Restore.ipsw) using iTunes 9.2 - it worked fine for a few days then all of a sudden I got a pop up message saying "you are unable to make or receive calls, please connect to iTunes". I did so and restored the firmware, it went through the whole cycle, unpacked, installed, verified and when it was about to be completed I got the following error from iTunes:
"The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1013)"
The phone remained in restore mode (iTunes icon and USB cable). I tried restoring again with the same result. I then deleted the firmware file, rebooted and reinstalled (same error). I then deleted a reinstalled iTunes (no dice). I tried alternative USB ports and cables and also tried on 2 other computers and tried all this in DFU mode too yet nothing has worked.
I would also like to point out that it is an original O2 phone with O2 chi[p that has *never been jailbroken*. Any ideas as to whats wrong? Or what I can do? Thanks in advance for you help!

OK, so nothing else was working so I took my phone into the Genius bar and explained what had happened. The Genius said He was unsure what error 1013 was so he looked it up and explained "It's an error related to the baseband and that more than likely the phone was unable to communicate with Apple servers as Apple had the phone marked as non existent"
He continued to explain that there was a fix he could do but would be quicker and easier to replace my phone. He did so and I left happy.
I recomend you just take your phones in if you are having this same issue!

It sounds like you have a hacked/unofficially unlocked iphone. When you update, it will indeed lock it back, as it should.
The ONLY place that can legitimately unlock an iphone is the carrier to which they are locked and no U.S. carrier does this.

Why Does My iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.0.1 Cause Rapid Battery Drain

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.0.1, and now the battery drains very rapidly---needs to be recharged after a few hours---and gets very warm. Before this, iOS 4.0 was fine (although slightly increased battery drain over 3.1.3).
I use Exchange with push and had no issues before iOS 4.0.1. This may be the culprit now because when I turn off "push," the battery drain appears to be normal (although not extensively tested yet). But, I also have MobileMe, Yahoo!, and Google email accounts set up.
Is this a new problem? Anyone else have this problem? How can this be fixed? Anyone have any ideas?

This is my observation from past 6 nights;
All 6 nights, charged my iPhone to max and then kept it in sleep/stand by. Not even a single call or mail checked...(11 pm to 6:30 am when my alarm rings)
1st & 2nd Nights, I had flight center, angry birds, twitter, facebook, mail, phone, sms, settings app open in the multi-tasking bar.
Battery drained from 100% to 83%
3rd and 4th nights, i had only twitter, facebook, mail, phone, sms
Battery drained from 100% to 92%
5th and 6th nights, I had nothing open
Battery drained from 100% to 93%
my mail is always in push enable setting to exchange and me account,
location always on, bluetooth always off. 3G off
I thought, the applications on multi tasking bar is actually not draining the battery, but looks like they are...might be a flaw in multi tasking api or may be from developer.
I hope to get an easy way to kill the apps and not let it go to multi tasking bar.

Sorry, I haven't a clue. However, in "pairing" phones, I've found that it's not a perfect science and most of the time, if I keep making an attempt, my phone does pair. Today, I finally got around to pairing my new 4S with my Ford Flex. Same story, the first 3 or 4 attempts crashed. Then for some unknown reason, doing the same procedure, the phone did pair with my Flex.

open itunes - plug your phone to your computer - itunes should automatically read that your phone needs an update.
You should do a backup of your phone before you update.

I tried to update my iphone 3GS with IOS6 and the update was incomplete. It then said retry so I did and it synced with my daughters ipod touch causing me to lose ALL of my information. New iPhone 3GS with iOS 5 creating a problem with white screen

Hi There,
I purchased a new iPhone 3GS from iStore in India on 27th Dec 2011 and got a problem saying phone was getting restated automatically. Later got a new device replaced by Apple and now it started a new issue from the day one, with a temporary white screen of death.
It happen, whenever the phone is kept on stand by for a longtime, mostly in nights. Further after receiving a call/text kept the phone idle and by the next call come phone turns white and to get rid of it need to press power button once and then press the home button.In the white screen mode touch is not responsive.
Please let me know what can i do. Tried restoring device from back up, via itune... everything is done. but not getting a solution.
Is it the problem of iOS5.
Any help... please suggest.

Hi... Posted there please try to upgrade your OS, I hope this will resolve your issue but if it doesn't please reach out to a nearest apple care and check for a solution, as ur phone is from US, these guys cannot help :(

IPhone 3GS Set Up Mail Problems

I´ve just update the version of my iphone 3GS to 4.3.2.
The problem is that now the option to leave the massages on the host simply dissapeared.
If I delete the messages in my Iphone, the messages is beeing delete on the host too.

You can access a Charter email account as a POP account only.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
When accessing a POP account with more than one email client, only one email client at a time can access the incoming mail server for the account. The incoming mail server will temporarily lock out a 2nd email client that attempts to communicate with the incoming mail server when another email client is doing the same checking for new messages and while downloading any new messages at the server. This is a POP account limitation.
This isn't a problem with an IMAP, but Charter doesn't support IMAP account access. I'm not aware of any internet service providers that do.
You can access a Gmail account as an IMAP account, which is free. A Gmail account also has an authenticated SMTP server which will provide for being able to send messages with the account regardless the internet service provider being used for your internet connection at the time. Doubtful that Charter has an authenticated SMTP server.

HT1454 where did the "tv out" setting go on my iPhone 3gs with iOS 6.0?

I used to be able to use my rca cable video and audio cable out to send video and things like you tube to my tv, but I tried again recently and it does not work. The "TV out" on and off setting in settings is gone now and I can not find a way to get the Iphone 3gs to recognize the video cable or send video out. I am using the newest iOS. I think it is 6.0.1 Is the setting gone and no longer possible to send the video or is there a trick that I dont know. Does anyone know of an app that will allow this? I want to send the video and audio on the phone to the tv monitor in my truck for my kids to watch. It used to work fine but now it doesnt. The only thing different is the iOS is different on the phone.

Same thing happened to me. Did you update to the newest version 4.3 YouTube app? It doesn't support TV out. Go to YouTube.com from your device and look at the bottom where you see a square with an arrow running through and it will open a window where you will see another YouTube app then click add to home screen and you should be back in business then trash that new version out!
