IPhone 3GS with OS4 upgrade - using Apple's Bluetooth Keyboard

I just upgraded my iPhone 3GS to OS 4. I also bought an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard.
It's awesome except for one thing. After I type a text message and go to send it, I push the "Send/Enter" button and it just goes to the next line, it won't actually send the message. I realize the keyboard came out way before OS 4, but surely there must be a button you can use to actually send the message without having to go back to the phone each time.
Does anyone know what button on the Bluetooth keyboard you use to "send" the text or do I have to just tap "send" on the actual phone?

I'm using apple's bluetooth keyboard and I need an easy way to switch between the text and numbers fields instead of tapping on the screen
While not in edit mode:
- if start typing numbers, then it enters number mode.
- if start typing text, then it enters text mode.
Using the arrow keys exits edit mode. So this should work for you:
1 Type text into a cell, which enters text mode.
2 Press Return to move to the next cell.
3 Press right arrow key to exit edit mode.
4 Press left arrow key to get back to the cell.
5 Type a number, which enters number mode.
Another method that requires more planning ahead of time is to format the cells as text or number before starting the data entry. Then when you navigate to a cell while in edit mode, you will be in the appropriate mode (without having to exit edit mode).
This all works fine for me. Hopefullly it does for you also. -
IPhone 3GS with OS4.0 battery doesn't even last a day.
Since I updated my OS to 4.0 my phone will not even last a day. Before it would still have some where between 25% - 35% left when I get home from work. Also it stops charging on the same charger I have always used some time during the night. I get an error message saying this charger is not compatible with iphone. I thought this might have something to do with the rapid battery loss but even after charging directly to my imac the battery still dies quickly. after 10 mins of browsing on wifi the battery dropped from 100% to 92%! It has NEVER been this bad. HELP!!!!!!
If you double click on your home button, then you will see all your apps running in the background (at the bottom of the screen). Just press down on one of the Apps, and a little red minus button will come up. Close all of the Aps you are not using. This will preserve your battery life. They will run again when you relaunch them. Keep in mind any time you open up an App it is running in the background. So you may have many of these programs that are running in the background eating up your battery life right now. When you close them this does not mean you will prevent you from receive push messages, etc. You will still get text, messages from ESPN for instance, etc.. I hope this helps you out.

I have iPhone 3GS with OS4.2. To, I try to upgrade it with ituon 6.1.1. After upgrade I unable activate my iPhone. Then I try to restore back, but after restore, I still unable to activate my phone. I with T- mobile, but they told me to call Apple. Please help!
Your iPhone was hacked/jailbroken in order to unlock to to work with T-Mobile. When you updated it you broke the hack and the iPhone is now locked again to the original cell provider, most likely AT&T.

After unlocking you will need to use Google and learn the procedure to clear the unlock hack and Restore it. -
Problems synching iphone 3gs with outlook 2010
when I sync my Iphone 3GS with Outlook 2010 using ITunes, I am losing contacts?
Yes I have a similar problem.
I lost all my contacts (today 23rd Mat 2011) on my 3G iPhone and the Address Book on my Mac Pro also.
The contacts in my MS Outlook were intact I run Outlook:Mac 2011.
They have only just fixed the issue with the Calendar in this version 2 weeks ago an MS issue.
I plugged in the iPhone last night to charge and synch and this morming the phone had no contacts and I had lost all the address Book I had some group headings (greyed out)
It's almost like a plot to get Outlook users frustrated and make them switch but, Outlook is too good.

What functions work with iPhone 3GS on OS4 with Apple wireless keyboard?
I've successfully paired my Apple Wireless Keyboard with my iPhone 3GS running OS4. I can type messages and emails, but many functions seem to be missing, like moving to the "send" button in email or moving around my iPhone screen. Does anyone know where to find info on what keys on the wireless keyboard perform what functions on the iPhone? Thanks

The eject key hides and displays the softkeyboard in text entry mode. -
Using iPhone 3Gs with noise canceling headset
I recently upgraded from a 3G to a 3Gs. I used the 3G with a corded connection from the audio jack to a Lightspeed Zulu aviation noise canceling headset. It worked great. However, with the 3Gs I can hear the person I am talking to fine, but they say they can barely hear me. This never happened when I used my 3G phone with the NC headset. Is there a volume adjustment on the outgoing audio in the 3Gs?
So my question is, can i use IPhone 3Gs with my network instead of AT&T?
No, if the phone is bought from AT&T in the US, it is locked to AT&T and AT&T do not offer unlocking, so it would only be able to be used with AT&T.
There doesn't appear to be an official iPhone provider in Egypt, so you would have to buy an unlocked one from another country:

I have iphone 3gs. I upgraded its software through itunes but it stopped reading sim. Then I restored but since then iphone is locked with message to insert a carrier compatible sim. I've checked my sim, it is ok. How to restore the iphone?
I'm going to make some guesses here. You bought your phone second hand. In other words, not from Apple and not from your carrier. What you got is a hacked phone that was originally carrier locked, most likely to AT&T in the US. You are NOT in the US. (If I get any of this wrong, please tell me).
What has happened is when you updated the software, it was re-locked to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier can authorize an unlock. If it is locked to AT&T, you're out of luck as they WILL NOT unlock an iPhone for any reason.
If it's locked to another carrier, you will have to find out what carrier that is (you can NOT tell by looking at the model number) and find out if they unlock iPhones. If you can't find out, or if they do not, then your only real option is to sell the phone and purchase one from a LEGITIMATE source.

I have a Iphone 3gs with the reading list and I was upgrading my phone however Im changing to a samsung galaxy s3, I wanted to know how to send or sync my reading list on my phone to maybe an email or something so that I could copy it to my galaxy??
Go to supportprofile.apple.com and remove your device. Alternatively you can call in to apple and have Apple look up your phone number. They may be able to remove it from their end.
If it does not show up in either of these places, have the people whe own the other iPhone send you a message> this message will be blue for an iMessage> have them push an hold on that message and select the option "send as text"> this should send the message as green> do this two - four time till it starts sending as green on its own.> this should fix it. -
I had my iphone 3GS and then upgraded to 6.1.3. Now the phone is in a loop and reboots everytime the Apple logo comes up. I held teh home power and connected to itunes to retore, but it won't restore. any ideas?

I have an old iPhone 3Gs with software version 4.3.5, I am trying to use it again, and it works fine, but I have not been able to update the software. Every time I try, I get the following message:
"there was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone, the network connection could not be established". This happens even though I have a working internet connection.
Besides that, all the other functions work properly, even synchronize apps and library.
Will I be able to update the software?look around the forum tons of people repport that they can't update

Please, kindly assist me with following challenges. I use iphone 3GS. I have used the phone for almost a year now. My iphone 3GS cannot connect to the itunes store. Each time I connect my phone to my Laptop through itunes. A message will automatically come up which states that "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknoown error occured (306)". It also make a footnote which states "make sure that your network connection ia active and try again". When I click the button labeled OK just below the messages, another message will come up which reads, "A new iphone software version (5.1) is available for the iphone software. Would you like to download it and update your iphone now?". It gives me the option buttons such as CANCEL or DOWNLOAD AND UPDATE or DOWNLOAD ONLY. If I click on DOWNLOAD AND UPDATE or DOWNLOAD ONLY. Another message will appear which states that "The iphone software update Server could not be conted" With a Footnote that states "Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connections is active, or try again later.
The above challenge has continued for more that 3 months now. This challenge has hindered me from installing some applications like Facebook Application for iphone, LinkedIn application for iphone and a lot of other applications. Each time I try to get these applications my iphone 3GS while inform that my current ios version 4.1 cannot work with the application, that they requires at least ios version 5.1 or above.

Whenever I connect my iphone 3GS to my PC through a USB. My itunes software comes up automatically.
1. After that a message appears from the itunes that states that 'itunes could not connect to the itunes store, an unknown error cccured (306).
2. After the above, an alert message comes up which states that A new iphone software version 5.1 is availlable for my iphone. It then states would you like to download it and update your iphone now? With the options buttons as Cancel or Download and Update or Download Only. Whenever I clicked on Download and Update or Download Only, the next message that comes up is that The iphone Software Update Server Could not be Contacted and suggest make sure your network setting are correct and active or try again later.

I tried to reset my iPhone (3gs) with deleting all data. When it power off and automatically again on then it is showing Apple logo only. Not restore and startup my phone. iPhone alerming low charge and I tried to charge and not charging.
What I should do now?Something has gone wrong. Turn your phone off, then force it into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, select "new".

Hey, I have a big Poblem with my iPhone 3gs, 16gb. The Screen was broken and I sent it for repair. After I got it back, it works without problems but then I tried to send a SMS and nothing happened! When I press "send" it goes to my homescreen/menu.
