IPhone 3GS won't turn on past the Apple logo and there's a swirling circle too...

Hi! For a while now, my iPhone has been a pain in my butt. I dropped it whilst out for a meal in April and it cracked the screen and did damage to the bettery which means that the iPhone turns off randomly when not connected to a power source (An Apple Genius has told me this).
But when out today, my iPhone shut off and it wouldn't turn on past the Apple logo. After about 30 seconds, a little circle like thing pops up on the bottom of the logo and starts to 'swirl' and it does nothing when connected to a power source.
I've hard reset it, connected it to iTunes and nothing seems to work. I tried restoring it in July and that didn't do anything to the phone at all.
Any help at all will be hugely appriciated and if anyone else has had the same problem as what I have, how do I fix it?
Thank you!

Wow sure sounds like your iPhone is in really bad shape.
But the next step is a DFU Mode Restore. If this does not work your iPhone is telling you it needs major most likely expensive repairs, or outright replacement.
DFU Mode Restore, with iTunes open connect iPhone to your computer, hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release Power button continue holding Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually about 20 seconds longer. If the screen is blank, black this is DFU Mode. Restore the iPhone Firmware. DFU Mode again is iPhone in Recovery Mode per iTunes but has a blank, black screen. If not successful keep trying to get DFU Mode, it can be a bit difficult even for experienced users to get, keep trying.

  • My iPod touch 5th gen won't turn on past the apple logo, do I need to restore to factory settings? If so, is there a way to save my photos?

I've had my iPod touch 5th gen for a little over half a year now, haven't had any issues until now. Yesterday it randomly shut down, and when I try to turn it back on, the apple logo shows up but the iPod just stays on that screen, it doesn't turn on any further. I think I might need to restore it to the factory settings to get it to work again, but I'm concerned that I'm going to lose all my photos. I found the backup folder in my computer but it doesn't have any files in it. I have over 600 pictures on my iPod and I really don't want to lose them all. Is there a way that I can either get my iPod to work again without restoring, or a way that I can extract the photos without the iPod actually being in functioning condition? The computer doesn't recognize the device when it gets connected via the USB. Thanks!

    - Connect the iPod to your computer and try to make a backup
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    - Next reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
and try making a backup again. If you can't then there is no way of getting the info off the iPod unless data recovery company can do it. Not cheap.
    - If photos are in an existing iPod backup (iTune>Preferences>Devices  for iTunes backup or an iCloud backu) then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

Sounds like your iPhones software may be corrupt. Try placing the iPhone into recovery mode. To do this, follow the steps in this article:

  • MacBook Pro won't boot up past the Apple logo! Help! :(

I had to force the computer to shut down as it refused to force quit.
I Have tried everything I can (Disk Utility - Repairing the disk.. even though the results came up as OK.. Ive re-installed Mountain Lion..) and had no luck!! The grey screen with the Apple logo and spinning wheel just stay there!
Also, it refuses to go into Safe Mode, after holding shift the loading bar only loads up to almost half-way and then it disappears.
    Please help!!

I'm having the same problem with my macbook. Apple logo and spinning wheel.  I saw a video on youtube that said to reset prm and also to remove both sticks of ram and trying to boot one stick at a time (due to problem possibly being caused by faulty ram) I also tryed booting from disk and booting from safe mode, but everything has failed.  All I get is the Apple logo and spinning wheel.  Does this mean the hard drive has failed? Or is there another fix that I might try? If it is the hard drive it would suck, but I could go buy another one and replace it, but what would really suck is if it wasn't the hard drive to begin with.  Can anyone please help?
    Thanks....

  • Ipod won't turn on, flashes between apple logo and white screen

Our ipod touch won't turn on, it has been charged,  but doesn't register anything on the screen.  All that happens is it flashes between the apple logo and a white screen.  My son says it's not been dropped/wet etc.  Any suggestions?
    THanks!

Tried it, it still shows the apple logo.  While holding home and power it flashed to a back screen then the apple logo popped back up....

  • MacBook won't boot - stuck showing the Apple logo and the spinning circle.

    Hi.
My MacBook suddenly froze when I was using it today. Displaying the spinning beach ball.
It never came out of it, fan running at max speed, so I tried to force restart it (Control-Command-Power), but that didn't work, so I forced the MacBook off (holding the power button pressed.)
When trying to start the MacBook again it couldn't boot. It kept displaying the grey screen, with the Apple logo and the spinning circle below the Apple logo.
I left the MacBook like this for 10-15 minutes, but nothing happened.
Went on to try the following.:
*- Removed the AC-adapter and battery for 5 minutes.*
*- Command-Option-P-R (Resetting PRAM and NVRAM).*
*- Resetting System Management Controller (SMC).*
    *- Command-S (singleuser boot)*
And checking the HDD with sbin/fsck -fy
= "The volume ** appears to be OK."
    *- Command-V*
Stops on the following line, and fan ramps up to full speed.:
    DNSServiceRegister("ssh.tcp."): -65537)
Force reboot didn't work. Had to force it off.
    But, nothing helped.
    It simply won't boot.
I also tried to boot Ubuntu 7.10, but it hangs after a short while displaying "Kernel panic".
Force reboot didn't work. Had to force it off.
Also tried the option to boot from the first HDD (in the boot menu on the Ubuntu 7.10 disc), but that didn't work either. Only got a black screen, with a blinking cursor top left, and fan ramping up to max.
Again, force reboot didn't work. Had to force it off.
The only thing that has worked so far is exiting the Ubuntu 7.10 CD boot menu, and pressing enter on the prompt that appears.
But, after rebooting, the MacBook still refuses to boot into Mac OS X.
I left the MacBook alone, hoping it would work its way out of the spinning circle, but after 2 h 38 min nothing had happened.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    :. nattugglan

This happened to me last night.
I was updating my iPod and I got a message saying that it needed to do an update. I installed the update and went on ahead putting new songs on my iPod. When it was finished i ejected as I usually do and closed down.
When I went to check me e-mails this morning the Macbook would not boot. It sticks on the grey screen with the Apple and the spinny disc underneath, then it restarts and sticks on the same screen. The last software to be onstalled was Norton 11 on Monday but I have used the Macbook since. I cannot think why it will not boot.
I am loathed to do a reinstall as I have some things on the Macbook that I had not yet backed up.
    Any advice?

  • My iphone went black and will not turn on past the apple logo

iphone went black and wont turn on past apple logo

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
If this does not work, connect in recovery mode and restore, explained here:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • My iPhone 5 won't turn on. Blinking apple logo.

My iPhone 5 won't open. When charging it using a wall charger, the Apple logo shows up every 4 seconds. But when charging it using a pc, nothing happens.
I've already tried the solution pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake button at the same time. When I do that, nothing shows up and when I release them, the Apple logo starts to blink again. Note that it happens when my iPhone is plugged thru a wall charger because when using a pc, nothing really happens.

    Ouch! That really stinks
I would contact AppleCare or make an appointment for your local Apple Store.
At this point, i believe your phone is just dead. Its possible the power brick was badly manufactured or something of the like, so make sure you also get the cord and power brick replaced.
    Good luck!
