IPhone 4.1 O2 Carrier failure

Just a quick question to anyone who can help; upgraded my iPhone4 to the latest 4.1 OS and now can't get connected to the O2 network, it seemed to work fine for the first few hours then just dropped it and won't get it back. I've tried all the help topics online and tried a few restores but it still takes it back to 4.1OS; is there a fix or do I need to give in and return to an Apple store for help? Thanks Rob

Clearly this isn't normal or acceptable behaviour. I would try a new sim card and if that doesn't fix the problem take to an Apple store and get a genius to look at it

I need help, I use my phone for everything enclusive to work. I appreciate if you can help. I'm from Brazil. My name and giullia.

Did you purchase this device from Apple or an authorized reseller? It sounds as if you had a device that was jailbroken/hacked to operate on your carrier. Upon updating the iOS, it is now locked back to the original carrier the device was locked to.
Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize an unlock. You will need to make contact with that carrier and see if they provide unlocking services, and if they do, if you qualify for an unlock. Otherwise, you are out of luck. One that carrier can take care of the unlocking.

  • I have a brand new iPhone 4GS from Bell Carrier, I want to have it unlock for my Roger's carrier, is this possible?

I have my step-son's iPhone 4GS from Bell Carrier, he upgraded his phone, I have a 4G, and I contacted Bell in order to have my phone unlocked so I can replace my phone with the 4GS with my present carrier of Roger's. Bell customer service informed me that they are no permitted to unlock iPhone and directed me to Apple.
I am a bit confused, these are very good phones and now I cannot use it because it is locked with a carrier, obviously the phone is paid for if Bell offered the free upgrade. Why can I not be able to use this phone and put my SIM card from Roger's and use it, instead we are disposing of good equipment that is obviously bad for the environmnent.
It is very simple, again I believe Bell is monopolizing, they want me to take this phone and get a plan with them, however, the story is that Roger's originally unlock the iphone for $50, and I bought a Bell SIM car dr $25.00, but I cannot pay Bell to do the same.
Can Apple authorize the unlock of this phone when the carrier refuses to do?

Apple does not unlock phones. Only the original cellular provider, in this case Bell, can authorize unlocking. They are passing the buck for their decision to not provide unlocking.

  • I am using iphone 4S with sprint carrier with IOS 7 and has error 1394

I am using iphone 4S with sprint carrier. It has IOS 7 and now I want to downgrade to IOS 6 and I have downloaded a firmware it is compatible with 4S. Now it shows error 1394 and I have tried to fix my host file in windows according to other forums in internet. But I haven't seen this line in my host file to change it
    "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" to "#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com".
PLease suggest me some solution for this problem

There is no approved method to downgrade. Your attempt to load a non-standard iOS file is causing the error. If you want to use your phone, you are going to have to try and restore it to the latest iOS compatable for that device which is iOS 7.0.4, otherwise it will not work and you will continue to see the error. Apple is no longer signing anything below the current iOS, so it will never activate.

Or if you've recently got the phone unlocked then you'll need to connect it to  itunes and then do a fresh restore to unlock it ,although for most users simply connecting to itunes for few seconds did the trick.

I'm not trying to minimize your issues, but I have an iPhone 5S and find that I have not had these types of problems on AT&T. I'm wonding if something has gotten stuck in a loop that is continually trying to use data. If you make a good backup of your phone, try restoring it as new, and do not add anything to the phone right away. Let the device run like this for a little while and see what kind of usage you have. You report you phone is showing usage of 21GB. Did you rese this setting on the phone to begin at your billing period? The reason I ask this is some people believe this setting resets on its own with your billing period, it does not. This has to be manually reset by the user, so it might not be that accurate depending on the last time that you reset it.
If the phone seems to not use so much extra data during the period the device does not have extra apps on it, then try restoring from your backup and see what happens. If this increases your data usage quite fast again, then there is probably something corrupt in the backup that is causing this issue.

    what can in do?

Well unfortunatly that advice does not always work. I bought a unlocked iphone4  from apple several years ago and went to att on a no contract basis. Six months later the phone crashed while updating the operating system. Apple replaced the phone with a new one. All is fine till I got a iphone5 and gave te phone to my cousin. The phone is now locked to att but att says the IMEI number is not a valid ATT IMEI and therfore cant unlock it. Apple says there is nothing They can or are willing to do so now I am stuck for a 600.00 phone that can't be used.
If anyoun knows a way naround this situation mI would appreciate a heads up.

  • Can I use my sprint iPhone 4S with another carrier if it's unlocked

Can I use my sprint iPhone 4S with another carrier if it's unlocked. Sprint will only unlock it if it's international. they will not unlock it if I want to use the iphone4s with another USA carrier.  Why? I have paid for the phone and don't have a contract.  I wanted to switch the SIM card and use tmobile or another provider because I am very dissatisfied with sprint service. Lots of drop calls and texting takes 15 to reach the other person.  It is horrible,,,, I hate sprint!,

Sorry, what others here have said is wrong, wrong, wrong. There is nothing about the hardware of the iPhone 4S that would prevent a Sprint 4S from being used on T-Mobile, or any GSM carrier, international or domestic. Nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Each and every 4S is 100% hardware capable of doing both GSM and CDMA out of the box. The only impediment is that Sprint would have to authorize an unlock for you. This is something they simply refuse to do. If anyone at Sprint has told you that they can't unlock a 4S for domestic use with another carrier, they have lied to your face. This, by the way, is something they're doing with everyone who asks the question - just Google search "Sprint unlock iPhone 4S", and you'll see dozens of internet threads where people talk about being lied to by Sprint about this issue. The good news is that Sprint signed an agreement with the FCC regarding letting off-contract customers unlock their phones. The agreement takes effect in mid-March, and Sprint is dragging its feet until then. Once that deadline passes, if Sprint still hasn't agreed to unlock your phone, then they're in violation of the agreement, and you can and should report them to the FCC. I sure plan to. Then I'm going to switch carriers, to one that doesn't lie to me and keep fraudulent liens on my property.

sir have this error so what can i do The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

It looks like the iPhone is locked to a carrier that is not the one you are trying to use.
You need to determine which carrier it is locked to and then contact them to see if they are willing to authorise the unlocking of your iPhone.  As ManSinha mentioned, many carriers will only authorised the unlock if requested by the customer who had the contract with them for this iPhone.
Remember that only the carrier who owns the lock on your Iphone can authorise Apple to unlock the iPhone in their servers.  You need to contact the carrier or have the previous owner of the iPhone request the unlocking.

how can i factory unlock my iphone 5c? its carrier is atnt and i want to be able to use it in south america using a gsm sim

"Factory unlock" would mean that the iPhone would have come from Apple unlocked. You mean "officially unlocked", meaning the unlocking has been approved by the carrier. Here are AT&T's official requirements for unlocking an iPhone:
