Iphone 4.3.2 upgrade to 5.0.1 error
trying to upgrade software on iphone 4 - version 4.3.2 to 5.0.1 through Itunes. - error "cannot update iphone because firmware file is not compatible"
Software version on iphone will not allow upgrade directly on iphone - Phone is 1.5 years old , purchased from Apple store in US - itunes version on PC (windows 7) is 10.5.1.42
Any suggestions?
On your system go to the folder below:
On Windows Vista/Windows 7:
Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
On Mac:
~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
Then find the IPSW file and delete them. Once deleted try and update your phone again. You may have a corrupt update file and you will need to download a new one.

Ok, I upgraded to 4.2 and deleted all previous backups, so I know I'm screwed untill the next update.
I've synced, backed up, restored from backup and still no "Visual Voicemail".
My voicemail only works if I restore the phone to original settings. But if I do that, I loose important data in my apps. As soon as I "Restore From Backup" I loose my "Visual Voicemail".
If I reset my voicemail password with AT&T, I get the screen to set up a new password and greeting in Visual Voicemail. When I go through these steps I get the spinning wheel "Saving".
It never saves, and I get an alert that says it can't connect to voicemail.
I can set up voicemail by dialing "1", but then all I see is a blank screen in my "Visual Voicemail".
I've also tried a full reset of my voicemail with AT&T.
I even got a new SIM card. That didn't work.
Can anybody figure this one out???

I forgot to backup my phone before I upgraded to 4.2. Oops!
When I noticed my Visual Voicemail was gone I tried to backup but ran out of memory.
So I deleted previous backups to make more room. It backed up fine after that.
I don't think it ran out of memory during the update, but maybe it did.

karan deep singhI believe that all iPhones, purchased in Egypt, from official sources, are sold as carrier locked. So, your phone was hacked by someone so you could use it in Germany. Sorry, but that's what happens to hacked iPhones.
No one here can help you, nor can/will Apple, and since none of the carriers in Egypt offer official unlocking, your choices are not good. -

I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS. How can I transfer all my apps including saved levels in games etc. and data and folders to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4. When I have done this for someone else they got all their data etc but lost the Face Time App and teh iphone 4 looked like the iphone 3 screen.
There is no FaceTime app for the iphone, FaceTime is built into the iOS. Follow the directions here:

There could be many causes. What happens when you try to use it. also try adding it again.

I purchased an audiobook in Nov 2012 using iPhone 4S and then upgraded to iPhone 5 in Dec. Now I am not seeing the audio book in purchase history in iTunes. This means I am not able to get the book in my new iPhone. Please help.
Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store. I'm sorry...my question was imprecise. When I said 'no longer works' I was referring to plugging the device into the USB and power jacks in the center console and then being able to play music through the radio and control the device from either the radio or the steering wheel buttons. The iPhone 4 I use for this purpose has no cellular service and has never been paired with the car. I have an iPhone 5 with cellular service that is paired with the car. I cannot test theiPhone 5 with the car because of the difference of connectors on the phone. :-( The iPhone 4, however, works fine in my wife's Hyundai Santa Fe.

Can't make calls or sms on iphone 3gs after iOs5 upgrade?
I upgraded to iOS5 on my iphone 3gs and I am having major problems connecting to the 3g network. I can't make or recieve calls or sms, or log on to the internet over the 3g network. wifi works fine, but that doesn't help with the calls or the sms, and i can't always be on wifi for my emails. the phone worked fine before the upgrade.
i've restored the entire phone as a new phone, i've gone in to the apple store and had my phone looked at, they say there's nothing wrong with the hardware.
i live in Canada and my carrier is Rogers - of course when I call them for help they say it must be the phone not their network. they'd rather i buy a new phone and sign another 3 year contract
the only thing that seems to help is restoring network settings. immediately after doing that I can make calls, send and receive sms, and use the internet over 3g. but it only fixes it temporarily... after about 15 mins I'm back to the same problem. can't make or receive call etc.

anyone know of a solution?After 2 hours with Apple Support, which was great, we figured out the issue. 1-800-my-iphone. When I upgraded to iOS5 and started using the iCloud, I was unaware that my previous synching settings were still set to Yahoo.com where I had been sycning wirelessly in the past. So the Apple support tech showed me that I had multiple accounts in both Notes and Contacts. I had iPhone, iCloud, yahoo, Outlook accounts and my default settings on the iphone should have all been set to icloud. Syching was occuring, but not in icloud. It took a little manual conversion of some Notes and Contacts into the icloud folders in Outlook, but now everything works and I only display and use the iCloud accounts in Notes and Contacts. Apple realizes that this is an issue for those of us that were previously using Yahoo and equivalents for wireless synching and they provded my support free. Usually they charge $27. All is well.

can someone assist me with a solution to the problem with my iphone 5. I upgraded to IOS 6.1.4 and since then i have had the problem of No Sim. I restored to the factory settings using i tunes as i have my back up on my pc but still the same problem. I have swapped sim and my Sim is working on other iphone with ios 6.1.3
Try a new SIM from your carrier. If that doesn't work, make a Genius Bar appointment and get your phone evaluated.

I just got an iPhone 4 as an upgrade from the original iPhone 3. I came home and tried to sync it with my iTunes and it says I need to upgrade my iTunes to work with the 4. The current version of iTunes isn't compatible with my G5 mac????? Help

Quiet a lot of my tracks do not play on my iPhone 4 after I upgraded to iOS 5. The the seeker bar does not progress and it looks stuck.
Could someone please help.

I am currently having the same problem, since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5, many tracks don't work. They were working before. Some are working but half isn't.
Tried to restore, remake playlist, delete every tracks et put them back. Same prob.

Not sure if this is a game or app or not...it shows nothing about it and explains nothing about it...but it is there on the demo video on the apple website for the add to upgrade to ios 5...it shows the user dragging threads and the little icon monster at the bottom of the screen catches themYea thats a game called "Cut the Rope" and it can be found in the App Store for $0.99 or you can buy the Lite version for free.
