Try the troubleshooting on this page : iOS: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting to a Windows PC
(As these are user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple, I've asked the hosts to remove the IMEI number from your post).

my iphone says activation error and i tryed restore and nothin really works what should i do?

Did you just update the phone when this happened? Was the phone jailbroken or hacked to unlock it before it was updated?
BTW, you cannot have iOS 6.1.4 on an iPhone 4; that version is only for the iPhone 5. Could this be your problem?

  • IPhone 5 Activation Error

    Hi
My wife's iphone 5 shows an activation error that this device is not registered as a part of the iPhone developer program please register at developer program portal. Interesingly she is not developer but my son got a password from a friend (who is a developer) to download iOS7 beta version (how cool) which he downloaded on his phone and moms phone but forgot to download latest iOS7 version on my wife's  phone. Any solution.
    Thanks

You are getting the error because you have a beta version of iOS 7 that expired yesterday. We've had hundreds of posts about this over the past 18 hours. If you are a developer, and thus have a legitimate copy of iOS 7 beta, go to the Developer's forum, where there are detailed instructions on how to resolve this. Or have your son's developer friend do it.
It's likely that you have an illegal pirated copy of iOS 7, unless you were actively helping the developer test software; you are on your own, because we are not permitted to support stolen software in this Apple-hosted forum. There are solutions, but you will have to find them elsewhere. Start with "DFU mode"

  • HT4623 Why does my iphone say "Activation Error" during the updating process?

after updating my iphone, the process is like asking the language, then the country, and then the wifi right? after i connected to the wifi, i pressed "next" then it says "Activating your Iphone" then suddenly it says "Activation Error". what does this mean? can i just restore the previous version of this iphone again?

You cannot install the previous version. "Activaton error" usually means that the phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it from the carrier it was locked to. It is now locked again to that carrier.

  • IPhone 3Gs Activation error (original owner)

I have an iPhone 3gs and my Grandmother (who was the original owner) took it to ATT and had them unlock it so I could use it with a different company but as we were leaving the store the ATT guy said he forgot to finish unlocking it but it was simple to do so he'd send us an email with instructions. I activated it and used it on straight talk for a few months till I realized it wouldnt send picture messages so I decided to pull up the email and finish activavating it so the email told me to take my sim card out, back up the phone then factory reset it to compleate the unlock but now that I try to start it back up it says activation error, activation request could not be completed. I have my sim card in it that I've used with this phone for a few months and still nothing. I live 8 hours away from where the ATT store is we had it unlocked so I cant go back there, and I only have this phone so I cant make any calls to anyone for help so WHAT DO I DO?!

Same problem! it is a problem with the apple server at the moment,we just have to wait and keep trying.Too bad it is not covered by warranty anymore.

  • My Iphone says activation error what should i do?

I have a problem, my iphone was frozen and i was told to restore it. When it finally worked, my iphone went to the set up screen where it asked me about what language, country, network...etc. But now it just says activation error what should i do???

If you're certain that your iPhone is not jailbroken, Apple has some suggestions here that may help:

  • HT4993 Why does my iphone say activation error

Why does my iphone say activation error

Because you are running an unauthorized version of the beat software for iOS 7. Or you are a legitimate developer and there is an issue with your last update. You will need to go to the developers section to fix it if that is the case.
If you are not a developer contact the developer who got the beta for you.

No need to SHOUT. The cable is the one used to connect your iPhone to your PC. Suggest getting another one.
The problem may be that you're using USB to connect to the internet. It's too slow and will cause problems when you have other high speed USB connections. Use an Ethernet connection to your modem/router. For additional troubleshooting, see these Apple support articles:

Well, you downloaded a bootleg copy of iOS 7 beta and have installed it on your phone without being a developer. It has bricked your phone and you cannot get help here because doing what you did has voided your warranty. Have a nice day.

    Hi, jsgladden.
Here is an article I would recommend when experiencing issues activating a device.  The step referring to recovery mode usually resolves the issue.
    iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3424
To retrieve your data, you will need to restore from backup after processing these steps.  Here is the article that walks you through restoring from either your iCloud or iTunes backup.

  • HT201401 error message when downloading IOS6 to iphone 3, "activation Server temporarily unavilable"

Tried to restor iphone through itunes

These are the steps mentioned in the article iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.
