Iphone 4 and speakers dock

I'm having a problem with the Sony Dock Speaker system SRS-GU101P. I've inserted the correct adaptor for the iphone 4, but it doesn't make a reliable connection unless I hold it firmly in position. As soon as I let go, the connection is lost. I've managed to make it work by wedging it in place, but obviously this isn't ideal! Is this a known glitch or do I have a dodgy product? Otherwise I'm happy with the menu, navigability, remote etc.
Thanks.

I'm a bit disappointed that I haven't had a reply to my post, even though a Sony moderator has clearly replied to someone else since I posted. I shall be returning the product as faulty and will go elsewhere.

    Hello everybody,
I'm new here, and writing from Rome,
I searched in the Apple support section to find an answer or to find who I had to write to, to have an answer, but unfortunately I have had any luck so...
    here I am!

here is a link, I'm interested in buying this cover for my iPhone, and its "dock" for the car, looks
great, cool and so simple but, has a magnet!
So my question is, is there any risk on having a magnet so close to the iPhone?
Thank you and sorry for my english!

So my question is, is there any risk on having a magnet so close to the iPhone?
Magnets & phones don't mix well. No damage, but having any magnet close to your phone could produce unexpected results, such as signal strength interference. Apple specifically recommends you not do so.

So even if I just ask to pay them to replace the lock button they won't because my screens are third-party?
Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement.  They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device.  Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now.  They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.

  • Play your iPhone through speakers with dock line out

I discovered this nifty feature today. I have some powered JBL speakers for my laptop that I usually plug in to the headphone jack. I saw that the iPHone dock has the "line out" connection and I wanted to try it out.
So I unplugged the JBL mini plug from the laptop and plugged it into the dock, put the ipHone in the dock, selected a song from the iPod, turned on my speakers and voila! My iPhone now plays through my computer speakers, but without the need to connect with the computer. Thank you Apple.

I tried this, too, and found it only works with the iPod part of the iPhone. I thought it would be a good way to use the speaker phone, or at least listen to voice mail. But, it doesn't work. Has anyone tried this successfully?

  • Remote app on iPhone and multiple speakers - I have to tap multiple times

I have a set-up with an Apple TV, iTunes on my iMac and a PC laptop plus 2 airport expresses throughout the house, all of those connected through airTunes.
This allows me to play music from any of these iTunes/Apple TV to the aiport expresses.
I have been using the remote app for over a year and a glitch seems to have appeared after I added the 2nd airport express (older model , 802.11g only).
Whenever I start the app fresh on my iPhone and need to change the speakers to another destination (from, say, "living room" to "kitchen"), the check mark moves to "kitchen" for a couple of seconds, then back to "living room" (and/or the Apple TV usually). I tap "kitchen again", usually same result. Only after 3 or 4 taps, will it stick to "kitchen" and the music will start.
Not a big problem, just something very annoying.
    Any idea?

Am I seriously the only one with this issue? By the way I replaced my old Netgear router with a spanking new Airport Bast Station and the same issue is happening.

  • My daughters iPod touch (4th gen and 4 months old) is not recognized by iTunes (PC) or our stereo docking station, but it will charge. Other devices (iPhone and another touch) work fine on PC and stereo. What is wrong??

We have an iPod touch 4th generation (4 months old) that is charging on our PC but is not recognized by iTunes. It is also charging on the docking station of our stereo but is not recognized by the stereo (will not play music). Other devices (2 other iPod touches and an iPhone) are recognized by both the PC and the stereo. What could be wrong with this particular iPod touch??

  • Docked T500 - Switch between headphones and speakers

    Hey guys,
I am using my T500 with an Advanced Mini Dock at work. I keep the headphones (with microphone) plugged into the docking station.
Sometimes I want to listen to the audio on my laptop's speakers rather than inside the headphones. Is there any way I can make this switch without unplugging the jack from the docking station.
I know that above the volume bar for some systems you are able to switch between headphones and speakers and also, up until ~1 month ago I was able to do this from the SmartAudio utility, but now I can't. I can just switch between SPDIF and headphones.
I am using Windows 7 64-bit and I have all the latest drivers and apps that come using the "System Update" utility.
Please let me know if you have a solution for this.
    Thank you,
    Ciprian

I'm pretty sure that the blame for this lies entirely with Microsoft and their stupid hardware-detecting W7 OS. Yes, it actually detects when you unplug the headphones, tells you what you just did, and promptly resets all sorts of things. The most sensible thing you can do (apart from reverting to XP, which doesn't do this) is to plug an external stereo jack to stereo jack socket extension lead, and plug either your headphones or speakers into that instead, whilst leaving the plug end permanently in the laptop. Microsoft can't pull that stupid stunt on an external connector, so you should be okay with that.

Brand new iPhone 4 (unlocked), got it activated yesterday, and speakers doesn't work, did restore back to factory settings, not luck, any suggestions. This iPhone was purchased in US, currently in India, will Apple support in India?

There are many threads on this forum regarding speaker not working issues.  You might try searching them.  Hopefully you'll find the answer you need.
BTW, the iPhone only has ONE speaker.

What's the wave's number of iPhone 4S speakers? I need to know what's the number because my phone doesn't play any sounds, and I kind of knew what's the problem and solution!
What I mean by wave is like radio channels' waves! Ex. 104.1

    Your statement makes no sense.
Have you tried basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide to rule out some setting in the device preventing the speaker from working?
    Is the mute switch on?
    Do other sounds work?
Does it produce sound with headphones plugged in?

  • IPhone and iPod with video docking station.

I just got an iPhone and was happy to see that it fit in my iPod with video docking station. But when I plug it in I get a message that says that this docking station was not meant to be used with the iPhone, and then it just syncs up and works fine with iTunes anyway.
So what's with the warning? Can the phone be damaged by the docking station? Should I be worried? And if there is nothing to worry about, why splash the warning?
Thanks, I look forward to your insight.

There are very few if any docks that are compatible with all functions of all ipods as well as the iphone 3G. Even Apple can scarcely manufacture one (although with a series of adaptors and optional cables they sell a "universal dock"). One of the biggest issues is the charging, as the 3G only charges via the 5 volt USB standard. I don't think there is a risk of damage, but an incoming call could generate some noise artifacts in your sound system. Have you been able to output video from your phone with that dock, and does it charge? BTW which dock are you using?

  • My Ipad 2 external speakers does not work and headphones has popping sound. This all occured at the same time as my Iphone and Ipod headphones only played mono (no, the "mono" option is not on). How can there be audio issue for all these devices?

My IPad 2 external speaker does not work and the original headphones have popping sound when used. This all occurred at the same time as my IPhone and IPod headphones only plays mono (and no, the "mono" option is not on) with the original headphones, as well as, other headphones tested.  How can there be audio issue for all these devices at the same time?
As you may have noted from the list of Apple devices I own, I believed in the Apple and the products it was producing; but it is hard to believe from my experience and the other voices within the Apple Community that we are all experiencing the same hardware issues. Especially since I recently, I upgraded to an IPhone 4g (no, my faith in IPhone 5 series is very little) and is experiencing the same audio problem as described above. So now, I am off to the Apple store again to be told that it’s a hardware problem on new IPhone. Really? Apple, what happen to the pride in the product you were producing?

Everyone does things a little differently. I love to "jam " along with iTunes ( or old Lp's) . Always have. That's where/how I've learned to play .
I'm sure leonieDF is giving a proper way to jam along on a keyboard with an iTune. He blows my mind all the time with what he knows. Nuff respects to him !
What I do is make a GB project I call "Jam With". I'll make several new tracks that are blank. Just has a few instruments named in the blank tracks. You can change those per song ...
Because I'm not concerned about changing the pitch / key.... of the iTune or the tempo ... I can simply play along with it.
    Peace,
    P. Dreadie

  • Ok i have a 3g iphone and in my car i have a pioneer avic-3 audio-dvd-gps-cd-ipod,etc it word fine until today...i tried to connect to my voce mail and will not route the voice mail audio thru my pioneer and speakers...

i have a 3g iphone & a pioneer avic-d3 car reciever...the bluetooth unit pairs with the phone anwsers and dials, auto connects, no problem...until today it won't connect with my voicemail as it stays connected...i have the latest up grade on the iphone and its only 2 weeks old and it worked fine for the time i had it...its a used phone!

I tried that method too and shile it will work, one false move and you can slice too deep. The option that worked for me was to buy the original iPod shuffle lanyard case. it comes with a short (3 inches) headphone extension cable where the male end fits in the iphone jack. it was $4 on ebay.

  • Iphone and pioneer CD-I200

Hi there, i have a pioneer DEH-P7750MP, with the CD-I200 cable to connect my ipod and it worked great, since it had a very good sound quality and charged the ipod at the same time.
Now i bought an iphone, and when i connect my iphone to the reciever with the CD-I200 it charges the ipod, but when i play any song or video, it sound through the iphone speakers, instead of sound in the reciever.
Anyone have an idea odf why is this happening to me or how can i solve it?
Thanks very much indeed for any help anyone can give me.
    Richard Alves

I'm using my iPhone with a DEH-P5900IB. Same CD-I200 cable.
The iPhone likes to be plugged in before the key is turned on. If I do that, the phone will go to charging and connect to the stereo as soon as I start the car. If I plug the iPhone in after the stereo is getting power, it will sometimes give me ERROR-A0. Easy fix tho, just unplug and replug the iPhone until you get the docking chime and it starts to work.
That being said, it seems some CD-I200 cables don't make a good connection with the iPhone's dock connector. Symptoms of this are bad audio and the stereo getinng stuck at "Ready", the iPod source disappearing, or other errors such as ERROR-11. I had a bad fit with my first phone from almost day one. It was replaced for an unrelated Bluetooth problem, and the new phone worked better... but the cable is worn out and it just started to get bad again today. The problem isn't really the dock connector but the cable: Both phones had a good connection on the CD-I200 cable in my mate's car. So, if you can never get it to connect properly, try another cable.
