IPhone 4 blacked out...

hi, i was wondering if anyone else's iphone 4 just blacked out on them. by "blacked out", i mean, no home screen, no power, and all the buttons are unresponsive. i hit the home and power button a thousand times and the phone never turned back on.
eventually, i held the home and power button and the phone powered on. this has happened to me twice since the 4.2 upgrade. anyone else had this happen to them?

Hello Everyone,
I apologize but I had a specific question for merged content 1 and have no idea of another way to contact this person. I have spent hours with apple tech support to no avail. I read an old blog he was posting in and seemed to be "the man" or "woman" (MC1 just sounds like a male name.. haha) on ATVs (apple tvs). I cannot get my ipad mini or iphone 5 to mirror of even airplay with my ATV 3 after just taking it to the family room of my house and hooking it up down there for just a few minutes. No matter what we have tried, I mean every thing, I have a pretty extensive network of multimeda equipment, but i have taken it down to just the ATV and router....to luck. I cannot get that icon to appear and we have tried it all. I  can however use it as and audio output source... If you or anyone else (just PM me or send me to the propler spot please!). feel free can offer any assistance in finding a solution I would be very appreciative. I know I can just trade it in for a new one but it might not fix the problem. Once again my aplogies to everyone on this blog. If there is a way to PM a specific bloggist, please let me know this is the first time I have done this and hopefully the last!
Good Luck with your troubleshooting everyone,
Russ

  • IPhone blacking out to home screen

iPhone randomly blacks out to the home screen. It does this during anything I'm doing; apps, texts, internet, phone calls, etc. I lose anything I've typed and have to retype or redo anything i was previously doing. I've tried to reset it, update it, and everything else.. nothing has worked. I have also replaced it. I'm not on my third iphone. They start out working fine when I first get them but then they all start doing this. Please help

  • Iphone Blacking out and needing to be reset

My phone has been playing up for months, it will black out as if i have turned it off but havent. i then have to reset the phone this can happen up to 5 times a day if not more but sometime less. i can also plug it into power and this will bring the screen back on. when this happens it often takes a picture of the screen. i have restored the phone many times and also took it back to the shop and they sent it back saying nothing was wrong with it. but the problem is still happening it is quite annoying and just recently the music has been playing up, it will just stop especially if i have it play threw an ipod dock speaker thing. i have been trying to restore it again to maybe fix the problem but when i click retore it goes to do it but then brings the update to upload but i have the latest update. should i just take it back again? or could it be something else? does anyone else have this problem? any help would be great =)

I have had a similar issue and found out that it is simple fix (was for me). On the iPhone there are proximity sensors to the left of ear mike (where you listen) it senses if your ear is close to the phone and blacks the screen out so you don't activate any other buttons when putting the phone to your ear..... the leather case or protective sleeve that I was using, was covering those sensors and thus stopping the screen from coming back on. The problem seemed intermittent, then permanent... once I removed the case, it became an instant fix. You cant see exactly where the sensors are unless you tilt the phone and look at it at an angle in natural light (the sunlight) you'll see two "dots" under the screen close to the ear piece.... try using the phone without case?

  • Iphone blacked out only apple logo

help does anyone know how to restore the Ihope its doesnt charge and it blacked out the only thing it shows is the apple logo and the loading circle but it does nothing. • My iPhone blacks out my television!!

Whenever I place/receive a call on my iPhone 4 my television goes completely blank. It's like the signal on the television just completely drops, it instantly becomes a black screen. The TV is a newer model Samsung television. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Sorry to say but there are a lot of variables here that could have happened... It could be device level (which you'd be best to have an apple genius review the phone for your).... It could have been environmental.... Or it could have been related to something that was previously running and somehow used up all the resources on the iPhone causing it to somehow do abnormalities.
If it was a "crash" per-se on a apple device it would have recorded it and the sent that report up to apple when you last syncronized the device to your computer.
Otherwise, have you installed anything new? were you in a different location?
If none of the above are true then schedule a genius bar session and have them review the phone!

  • IPhone blacked out

Last night my iPhone 5 turned off, started flashing Apple logo couple of times and went black.
I tried recovering it but iTunes would always give me an error (4005, 21 etc). I did update iTunes and my PC but nothing helped.I don't have any access to a different computer or USB right now but when I plug my phone to an outlet it shows me the recovery screen, but it doesnt do that with my computer anymore so I cannot try and restore again.

    Hey Kittehx3,
With those errors you have done some of the troubleshooting in the article below. I would continue and try with a different cable. If you continue to still have the same error codes show up then the only option would be to contact Apple support for additional support.

  • My iphone blacked out im not sure wats wrong

    I need help

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.
Opening the device or allowing someone other than Apple (or an Apple Authorized Service Center) will void all rights to warranty and support from Apple and these Apple hosted user to user support forums.

  • Iphone blacking out??

Occasionally when I am using my phone, whether it is on the internet, facebook or itunes, my phone will just blackout for a second and return to the homescreen? Whatever I was searching on itunes or safari etc will be lost. Why does this happen and is there something to fix it?

The app you are using has crashed. It's the same as a Windows, Mac or Linux app crash. It shouldn't happen with iTunes, but may with Safari if the site you are visiting has buggy code in it.

  • My phone blacked out, will not turn on, and i did not update to the new software! So what is my Apple iPhones5s problem?

My iPhone blacked out, and will not turn on. I did not update to the new software! So what is my Apple iPhone 5s problem?
A lot of issues with iPhones lately, maybe apple has an issue developing and implementing their inovations.

    Hi InUtero,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I can understand your frustration if your iPhone is not turning on as expected. The first thing I would suggest in this situation is a reset. Please use the following article for instructions on how to reset your iPhone. Please be sure to let me know if you need further assistance.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    Have a great day,

  • How do I get my iPhone 5c out of black screen recovery mode?

I have been trying for countless hours and days to get my iPhone 5c out of recovery mode (black screen no apple logo or anything else) the only reason I know it turns on is because the backlight LCD changes color. When I press down on it it leaves a little finger pressure thing. I have tried all of the ways to get it out of DFU mode, Out of Recovery Mode, I have tried restoring it, in which case i get the error 4005,40013 etc. So now I have come here for my last hoorah on trying to get this pile out of recovery mode and the IOS installed and working.
I don't know if this matters or not but, I have recently purchased a screen from ebay, it was an original iPhone screen etc. I have replaced it and as i said the screen works fine. that shouldn't have any problem with the actual software malfunctioning to update, but here is the log! Enjoy!
All help is greatly appreciated and I will do my best to give credit where it is deserved in the future! God Bless!
